To his credit, he is the only one from his party criticizing the government from the beginning even though his party is part of Prayut's coalition. He even criticized his party of timidly conforming and kowtowing the Prayut and his administration. It was reported that he asked his party executive board before they joined the coalition whether they will support Prayut to be premier or not and party said no but changed their mind later. He resigned as party leader but remained as MP until yesterday. It is a suprise but not a shock. I respect him that he has been steadfast on his principle and integrity.
