  1. How so mate. America was not even strong under Trump. He was impeached for putting national security in peril for his own personal gain. He alienated allies and cozied up to dictators. Started trade wars to distract the public and manage the pandemic poorly. Look beyond him if you want America to be strong again.
  2. Point taken. Perhaps Prawit’s group which include potential MP candidates want to be recognized with election looming. ????
  3. What’s the point of taking a photo with mask on?
  4. I find the GOP shenanigan holding the debt limit as leverage shameful. Debt has to be paid. Really nothing to debate. Debate future spendings not debt ceiling.
  5. The party need to save themselves first.
  6. That must be Prawit clearest sign of intent to sideline and marginalise Prayut. Whatever the post election coalition configuration for next government, Prawit is in a very comfortable position to be premier.
  7. Straight out of the GOP's playbook. What you can't win, just destroy. https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2023-01-17/failed-gop-candidate-arrested-shootings-democratic-lawmaker-homes
  8. Agree. The individual skill, fitness and not losing their shape of the Thai team is impressive. This is a very tiring tournament in a home and away format in interval of just 3 days. Thais were in better physical shape than the Vietnamese. Their defense was discipline and the Vietnamese could not find an answer to get into the box and has to resort to long kicks. Not typical Vietnamese penetrating style. Thailand has won the AFF Cup seven times and is the standard bearer for ASEAN football.
  9. Doubt Ruam Thai Sang and PPRP will win big to be able to form the government. It looks like PTP will take the lion share votes and the Move Forward, PPRP, Bhumjaithai, Ruam Thai Sang Chart and Democrat Party will share the rest in that order. The rift between Prayut and Prawit seem acrimonious and if Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party win less seats than PPRP which is the likely scenario, it is unlikely Prawit will give way to Prayut. PPRP members who loof Prayut will not be happy with that decision.
  10. This is untested times in US legal system to convict a former and probably a prospective President. Unfortunately history offer no precedent for criminal trials of such personality. Record in US prosecuting the rich and powerful is also not encouraging. However I have faith that he will be convicted and behind bars and it is coming soon.
  11. Pheu Thai will have to win by a landslide in the next election and together with coalition parties and some sympathetic senators to stop this unholy alliance of crooks and coupists and deny Prawit or Prayut premiership. If PTP can't win a landslide election, Prawit is in a very comfortable position to be the premier. Buddha weep.
  12. Prawit is far more outspoken recently than before when he prefer to be in the background. Prayut leaving the party is signaling that he want to do things on his own. PPRP look at his departure as a betrayal as the party secured him the premiership. Anupong want out of politics. The three Por fratenity tie is fragile and not strong as the analyst see it.
  13. The Global Quality of Life index had Thailand standing at 40 in 2012 which was under an elected government while the index in 2022 had Thailand ranked 72. Said something. Don’t they.
  14. Like you I too could not care less about the Royal Family. However exposing family secrets to make a living seem morally wrong. The royal family will now have to deal with the unpleasant aftermath that may well poison the whole family.
  15. The protests were not a country wide popular uprising but concentrated only in Bangkok. The scattered and rather small protests should not warrant the military to stage a takeover of the government unless they were choreographed for that eventualities. Even if the protests were intense, another election should be held. That is democracy. All Thais have the right to vote which is the fundamental values of equality. Educated middle class and elites would like to take away people's right to vote claiming there are the only one that are educated in election. Highly educated people can also be selfish and take advantage of society and that they are better educated and wealthier than province folks. Their views are unacceptable and undemocratic. Paetongtarn promise of minimum wage increase is following the policies of his previous party when they were the government. Pheu Thai Party has honoured their election pledge to hike minimum wage in 2012 from 144 B to 215 B in some province and lifted to a flat rate of 300 B in Bangkok. There were the usual whining and crying from the business owners of doomsday. Fast forward today, life in the business world goes on adapting to the wage increase. My view is that the wage increase in steps are good for Thailand and for the eradication of poverty.
  16. Old Tony and sister were legitimately elected overwhelmingly by the people and were forced into exile by military coups and sympathetic courts. Why don't the the regime respect the wishes of the people. If the elected government is unfit for office, let the people vote them out; it is not the military responsibility.
  17. You have low understanding of the law. Finding the documents in his home doesn’t proved that he took the documents. Contrasting with Trump as an example he asked his staff to pack the documents and send to Mar-la-go.
  18. Apparently you disregard due process and jump to conclusion. The only correct thing you post is that the special counsel is pursuing the case. Until the investigation is concluded with findings, yours is just a personal opinion.
  19. Any evidence that he willfully kept the documents for 6 years? Or NARA knew and subpoena Biden to return the documents? Please enlighten.
  20. All the senators are holding out for better offer and post senate life. Lots of dynamics at play in their decision as they exit their positions after serving their 5 years term
  21. No coverup. WH cooperating and DOJ has appointed a special counsel.
  22. There are lots of configuration to be considered as regards to how the 250 non elected senators will vote. This will the 5th year and last year of all the senators. I am sure that most of them are thinking of their future. The 2017 constitution amendment on senator appointments will likely to be void since the provision was for the NCPO to select and appoint and the NCPO was dissolved in 2019. Some may go into politics and aligning with PTP seem a tempting option. Political affiliation will also be a factor if some decide to do business. The senators will likely to vote according to voting sentiments which is currently for PTP.
  23. I have better confidence that the culture of corruption can be eradicated than you with good uninterrupted governance and good institutions. Eradicating corruption is a process and need a continuous policies and management. Countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan were bastions of corruptions in the past. They have since being able to eradicate corruption to an acceptable standard. As I said, continuous interferences of legit governments with corrupt military government are no solution to eradicating corruption. First this has not been tested in Thailand because of numerous coups. Empowering people to vote out corruption is not a new concept but tested with admirable results in Asia. Indonesia has been a cesspool of corruption and has gradually improved with Jodo Widodo. Still a work in progress but certainly moving in the right direction. South Korea was known as coup country and corrupted. The Korean people have voted wisely since last coup and country has developed leaps and bounds with strong institutions and low corruption. Again the same message, give Thailand a chance to choose their leaders. Soldiers should never be allowed to be involved in politics.
  24. Not the same and false equivalence. Have been explained by many here. One is a mistake of about a dozen classified documents and handled promptly with full cooperation while the other is a crime with willful intent to obstruct and hide hundreds of classified documents. Simple as that. Not hard to understand by rational people.
  25. You have evidence that he forgotten the docs next to his Corvette or you just gaslighting? Reports clearly state that they were found in the garage. Who left those behind has not been determined.
