The EC can unilaterally punish/ban Candidate Thanathorn from taking political office for suspected pre-election alleged crimes.
However, should Thanathorn be sworn in as MP before the EC can finalized its adverse action, the appropriate authority not longer rests with the EC. Then the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) becomes the appropriate agency for removal of MP Thanathorn from office as a political office-holder.
Hence, FF's rush for the coalition.
Once Parliament opens on May 22 by the King, Thanathorn will have Parliamentary immunity and can’t be removed unless by a higher court or by Parliament itself. Really inprecedented stuff and the legal process can dragged for a long time. Technically the EC has ran out of time to charge Thanathorn. I think he is in the clear unless the junta reaches into their dirty bag of tricks and manupulate another corrupt act as they always do.

The finance minister said a decline in export sector due to the world’s economic recession has prompted the state firms which have a combined 330 billion baht in investment capital to spend more on their respective economic bolstering projects. So far, only about 80 billion baht has been reimbursed while more is to follow in May and June.
Can only think of 2 reasons why they have not spend the approved capital. Either they are incompetent to identify good returns investments or the kick-back amount not to their liking.

Did the World Bank give him their study on the Political Violence and Economic Growth. Empirical study that coups are economic disasters. Not that Prayut understand much and he is only a puppet.

Just as I posted, it was reported that Dem and BJT have caved in to the junta after being offered juicy positions. Anutin will get the Health Minister portfolio to enable him to fulfill his commercial marijuana pledge. Banyat will get the Parliament speaker position. These 2 parties have sold out the people again for their own interest. Hope that only a rumor and hope Thanathorn succeed in forming the next government.

Bet there are lots of senior civil servants and that include the higher ranking police and military officers that have unusual wealth if the NACC doesn’t practice selective investigation. I remembered a General who barked back at journalist who questioned his unusual wealth and ordered him to mind his own business.

Thailand has aligned with China totally now. Thailand, China used to taking advantage of the US now feel's the pain. Thailand has pretty much alienated all western countries, tourism and expat's to visit and live in Thailand will dry up and the people will suffer horribly.
It will get so bad soon that Thailand will start changing their laws, but it will be too late IMO.
Way overdue IMO, let them eat their rice, and dream about the past good times when relations with the western countries were good.
Maybe the silver lining is that Thailand largest trading partners are not all western countries. Actually of top 10 countries, only USA and Australia who is more an Asia Pacific country. China happen to be top and also in tourism. Doubt a small country like Thailand can alienate all those big powerful western countries.

It’s rather mind-boggling that the some of the political parties have difficulties in their decision making. What’s so hard to decide whether you stand with the people for democracy or cradled up with the ursupers of democracy and have dictatorial rule for next 4 years. Dem and BJT should be ashamed of themselves taking part in the election and then offered themselves to the highest bidder. That’s a word for this kind of behavior; too foul to mention

What happen to the re-structuring plan laid out in 2015 to reduce operational cost by 20%, cut the flight size and unprofitable routes. All forgotten and even asked for new planes. That’s what can happen when you have generals running the country.

How did they get their seats?
How else can a party that won only less than 1% of popular votes got 2 seats. Courtesy of the crony EC ridiculous and mystifying party list formula.

Not surprised at all with this news. Damrong has always praised the junta government particularly Prawit. He defended Prawit’s watchgate by suggesting that was a smear campaign to (wait for it.,) to destroy his character. He is just another junta lackey and doing this for his own self ‘monetary’ reason.

Oh the coward Chalerm is back! Where was he the last 5 years while Cha Cha and his cronies dismantled everything that was left of Thailand’s fragile democracy?
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa ConnectHe was quiet after demanded to report to the the army barrack with other previous ministers. Those NCPO policies warning against criticism must have affected him like so many others. It was not a normal time last 5 years.

He did do better rigging the election like no others have done before. History will remember him as a rather dim individual who was an accidental general and premier with no significant achievements.

Is there any significant difference?
Plenty actually. Donkeys are intelligent and smart enough to avoid unsafe acts. Chimps are rather stupid and tend to repeat an act even if unsafe.

Who do you support? Thaksin? Or maybe the other rich guy with the all new party who wants to work together with Thaksin?
Obviously you don't have to tell me. Because with my ignorance I wouldn't understand why you support the criminal fugitive or his supporters.
I supported elected leaders because they were chosen by the people. Leaders who have no mandate from the people have no rights to lay out policies that reflect the wishes of the people. Don't need smart and intelligence to arrive at that conclusion. You are an educated man but I see that your problem like few of your like minded mates is that you are too Thaksin-centric and fail to grasp the totality of the issues regarding elites and military dominance since 1932.

Taxation is relative to all political parties and usually is an important part of the manifesto.
no party, which has been elected has any policy of taxation at all. In fact, they all have the same fiscal policy. None of them had advocated higher taxes and taxing the rich, so the voters had little choice. Maybe that's why so many of them voted for the junta parties.
No doubt is that tax reforms are important which is why all parties include them in their manifesto. You can look that up here https://prachatai.com/english/node/7980 and find the list of tax reforms which include personal tax, inheritance tax, land tax among many other proposed tax reforms.

He seem like a utility man and been hanging around in the party for a very long time but never had the fortitude to speak out against the party incumbents. Some may call that a lack of spine. He will allow himself to be cowed by the more vocal pro military party members. Done deal and heading to the arms of the PPRP.
