Yes, this guy has been protesting for years, threatened with "disappearance", held by the military, stood up for the environment and the people living in it, co-founded the anti global warming movement of Thailand, just so he could try and get some future (no pun intended) political party banned from an election one day.  And you accuse me of being gullible.

I suggest that you read about him and perhaps search under royalist Srisuwan. Not only my opinion. He do all that to make him more appealing but his political deeds are sinister and pro junta.

The usual knee jerk responses from the ill informed.  This guy may be annoying, and is the self confessed "country's biggest complaints maker", with over 3,000 recorded complaints over the years, but he can hardly be accused of working for the junta.  This is the same guy who threatened to sue the fine arts department over a book they issued giving credit to Prayuth following the coup.  He also complained, on a few different points, that Prayuth wasn't qualified to take part in the election.  He was also instrumental in the Map Tha Phut environmental ruling, and was held in custody by the military for 12 hours for bringing the removal of the 1932 Revolution Plaque to the attention of the public.  I suspect that all of these would be praised by previous posters condemning him for his latest action (and well remember the condemnation of those who removed the plaque on this very forum, by people who wouldn't have had a clue about it if not for the actions of Khun Srisuwan.

Makes one wonder about the "facts" spouted in posts on other political stories...

You are just so gullible to not know that all that is a work to put that in a wrestling term.

  3. Seem the basis for royalist Srisuwan for his complaint is that the candidates have an association with a company that use a rather regular DBD form that lists scores of possible business operations that may include media activities. That said, every candidates that has been associated with a registered company will be under threat including PPRP. This is not necessarily what was intended under the law but heck, the junta will exploit and milk it to the fullest to perform their dirty deeds.

Election ? You are still calling this farce an election ?
The EC has lost all credibility long ago.
Letting a bunch of corrupt junta cronies decide the outcome of this sham election and the future of the country?
A few power hungry, brain washed old men who can not keep up with modern developments because they live in a world of make believe 50 years ago selling out the country for the sake of staying in power.
The Thais and Thailand will get what they deserve - karma is a bitch!

At the same time, I am all praise for the brave ones who stood up against the EC and fought against the EC incompetency aka corruption as seen in the re-count in Nakhon Pathom which the FFP candidate won from previous Dem candidate. Score one for the good guy.

  5. What would improve the economic situation is for the RTA volunteer to reduce the defense budget, mass resignation of those armchair generals and Prayut step down and announced that the constitution will be change to a semblance of the '97 constitution. The EC will followed and resign enmassed and allow the winner of the election to be the party who won the most seats. Still 1st April right?

Chinese seem to have done well after taking over SINGAPORE.

Beg your pardon Sir. There is no Chinese invasion taking over Singapore. You confuse yourself with Chinese settlers in the 19th and early 20th century escaping famine and looking for a better life. What Singapore has are Singaporean of Chinese descent vastly different from mainland Chinese.

Sontirat, who is single, reported assets worth Bt144.4 million, with no liabilities. He reportedly became richer by Bt31 million while in office, after having reported assets worth Bt113.2 million when assuming the ministerial post. His assets include jewellery worth over Bt30 million and many coveted Buddha amulets valued at over Bt30 million.

Proving that you can be a career civil servant and still make it to the millionaire club. Inspirational stuff.

As I recall, China is loaning funds for the project to both Laos and Thailand. China itself will not carry any risk of economic failure as China might in a joint venture. Laos

has committed certain natural resources as loan collateral and Thailand has accepted a relatively high 20-year loan interest rate higher than its own sovereign interest rate.

Thailand never learn from the '97 financial meltdown when the huge foreign debts became unbearable with the sliding Baht. Now it looks like they are again repeating the same mistake.

Not so. You are muddling attempted descriptions of Common Law and Codified law in an attempt to apply them to Thai law.

Thai law does use precedents although it is not mandatory for judges to do so; it is at their discretion.

A great emphasis here, in applying laws, rules, decisions, is placed in individual discretion of the person making the decision. That, whilst theoretically giving that person the ability to make decisions based on all unique facts, also opens the way for misuse.

Any student of different law systems would also point out the very strange decisions that often come out of US courts, at federal, state and all levels! No system is perfect.

Really turn how the law is interpreted on its head when judges admitting to decisions were based more on political expediency than law. Confirming your comment that no system is perfect.

As an educated thai, I prefer to have more Asians in Thailand be it Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Koreans, Malaysians etc. After all we are Asians and we have better cultural values than the Westerners! Yes, there are the good and bad and the poor and the rich, the educated and the uneducated , the losers and the winners in all different races etc, Unfortunately when it comes to Thailand and in terms of farangs, it tends to attract out of a 100% of farangs who come here , at least 90% who are losers, (ie those who could not make in their own countries!, sex tourist and criminals and yes also  whingers. Also most of  the so called working farangs here are the ones that are stealing jobs from the thais ie websites developers, so called digital online marketing professionals, media companies etc and most of them do not support local thais etc. Had a bad experience with two media companies, one based in Pattaya and  another in Phuket, both were reluctant to help a thai start-up get coverage despite even wanting to pay as these scumbags felt threatened by the thai start-up and one , the one based in Pattaya even tried to steal some ideas from the thai start-up. Already in the midst of gaining more support from agencies and top level thais and soon even online to rid thailand of these scum! There are some nice westerners who have contributed greatly to thailands development and also some that are living here as expats with their western wives and families and are decently behaved and are really welcomed in this country, but again these are only a minority.

We ought to respect the cultural differences of the East and West if Thailand aim to be the good host for tourists.
