the Ammart will find every and any way to retain power and the don't care about elections they were 'born to rule' after all
Elections will come *after* the reform.
what "reform"? show me the proposals... where is the outline...? what is the timeline? you mean lese majeste? defamation? the judiciary? I'd like to see ALL those reformed
are they in the list? where is the list???
Close your eyes if you want to, but it seems to be happening. We might learn more when Acting Senate Speaker Surachai speaks later today.
Considering what Yingluck has said about lese majeste in the past, it doesn't seem likely that PTP would fight to have that included in the list of reforms; however, it's a moot point as PTP refuses to join the discussions.

The only path the people want is the right to vote for those you will represent them. No other choice is acceptable.
simple as that isn't it - one sentence...................................except that
1. The Majority of Thai people don't want an election before reforms
2. We already had an election in Feb and it failed (remember there were more No votes and Spoiled votes than actual votes)
You and your other mates/id's that keep spamming this nonsense here need to once and for all realise that an election is not going to happen before there are massive changes and investigations into the stolen 800billion baht and those responsible thrown in jail
Very good point. And I expect more than a few heads will roll.

She didn't have a dime transferred into her account. How can this be called corruption? Foreseeing substantial loss in the program is not good enough to convict her with the charges.
Read the OP more carefully.

Where's abhisit this last week?
Some go forward he is!
Not a peep out of him!
He's met with Acting Senate Speaker Surachai twice already this week. Abhisit is indeed working hard to move forward his reform framework.
Where's Yingluck? Still out to lunch?

We see no attempts from the PTP to talk, discuss, negotiate, compromise or attempt to find any way out
PTP are *elected* and think they don't have to compromise.
Yet they seem to be on the run.

Reforms should include things such as;
- Eliminate nepotism
- Eliminate cronyism
- Require transparency
- Require free and fair elections
- Permanent bans from politics for those convicted of abusing the public's trust
- Eliminate constitutional loopholes that have recently been exposed
While we can all agree that these items are important changes to be made, it's unlikely PTP would enact them as it would mean the end of their regime.
This would never work as there be no one left to contest the election on any side. Sure PT are guilty of many of these things but if you can't see that suthep is also guilty of these things as well, I just feel sorry for you
It may indeed be difficult for some on *all* sides. But reforms such as these are needed to move the country forward.

Yingluck should be leaving the country any day now.

Why cannot they have an election and form a government for national unity, say with a life of 3 yrs max. It could be like the British had durring the WW2, all parties , very successful. Once the war was won, it went back to fresh elections. Here it could the same, all parties sort out this reform stuff, then go back to the people. . Probably too simple for Thai Brains
Abhisit discussed his reform framework with many parities.
PTP, however, refused to get involved.

Bob or Pipkins, please calm down, you're over excited, what is this:' for those you will represent them'?The only path the people want is the right to vote for those you will represent them. No other choice is acceptable.
Forward with reform, drag the unwilling Pheua Thai into the future.Let the days of dinosaurs like Banharn and Thaksin, owners and masters of entire political parties, become history.
Reform Thailand, reform the people!
maybe you and all other reform callers should first explain what the heck you are going to reform and how.
calling just for reform is useless without any explanation behind it.
If there was a nice written reform plan, the current government might even implement it, who knows.
Cut screaming reform reform reform does nothing else but making you (suthep and the rest) look like a fool

- Eliminate nepotism
- Eliminate cronyism
- Require transparency

- Permanent bans from politics for those convicted of abusing the public's trust

The chance of all parties finding a 'compromise' PM, and agreeing to the type of reforms there should be, are zero anyway.
Actually, it's a lot easier than you think!
Don't forget that PTP has chosen not to participate in the talks, so there's little chance of anyone in the committee working to derail things.

Acting Senate Speaker Surachai has already met with the Constitutional Court.
Seems unlikely he would be proposing an interim Prime Minister had the Constitutional Court disagreed.

Acting Senate Speaker Surachai has met everybody who is anybody.
But where is Yingluck? Still out to lunch.
The clock is ticking for PTP to participate in reforms. Or they'll be sidelined, and watch the country move on without them.

In any other country, the government would be condemning the attacks as well!

Be some company for you.
That's the best you can do?

Anyone who doesn't know that both sides pay members of their rallies is delusional. Go milk something...
It doesn't take watching Blue Sky long to see that people at the PDRC rally's are inundating Suthep with donations, instead of lining up with their hands out.
This is perhaps the most clear indication that Thaksin will ultimately fail. As he has screwed the very people that supported him, he must pay more and more to get them to join his rallies; a year ago it was only 500, now is 1,000 THB. Even his "supporters" know he's on his heals.

Once the word gets out, the people will want their money 'up front'. Thaksin is being ripped off by his own UDD operatives and he has no fall-back organization. Thaksin if finding out just how tough it is to be a 'long-distance' dictator. I haven't seen any good news for the Thaksin camp in many months. Thaksin cannot be sleeping well these nights and he is probably developing stomach ulcers from stress and worry. He's being let down and betrayed at every turn and the country is nearly united in its commitment to his permanent retirement from involvement in policy. He must be one hell of an optimist to continue his efforts to regain power and legitimacy.
+1
When raising the minimum wage, Thaksin might not have considered it would cost his rent-a-mob costs to skyrocket.
He can't be a happy man.

As they're not constitutional scholars, their opinion carries as much weight, well, as yours.
IT IS, it's the cops; they have a right to tell the senate what they are doing is illegal. The Senate is out of session, they cannot do anything when they are not even in session, everything they have been doing since the session ended is 'informal', now they are suggesting the can appoint a PM from one of these sessions?
Just to be clear, CAPO now considers itself to be constitutionally empowered to tell the Senate what it can or cannot do.

you're so so right siamploee, some things never change. The same old people have brain fade whenever they see this video.
Did you forget to add the rider that this is from March 2010 and shows payoffs to pick-up drivers for fuel and food for taking red shirts to a rally?
As per usual you adhere to the gospel according to Saint Shinwatra and the Red Shirts.
Red is right,
No doubt as you claim to be English you have a picture of Saint Scargill above your bed too
Forgotten this one have you?
Priceless!

I'm sure the Thai Lawyers Council will be happy to defend the Senators.

Sad days ahead as the skies of Thailand are darkened by thousands of Calerm's paratroopers raining from above to arrest Suthep, the protesters, the Senate, and anyone who has ever posted a discouraging word on Thai Visa.
It has finally come to this.
Isn't it a pity...

There are problems on both sides, but PTP win because many people believe that it is the only party that represents the rural poor. Every time that the PM that represents the people is taken away, the people just get behind the next one.
Reforms are shorthand for jerrymandering to prevent the people voting for who they want. I expect the circle to contiue for many years until the Amart weaken and Thailand moves to democracy and freedom. This is just one small battle in a long war.
Reform is shorthand for removing nepotism and cronyism, and requiring transparency, just to name a few.
