  1. I wonder how many right lane hoggers these guys had faced in the day before this incident. I feel like doing the same sometimes having to pass over a hundred of these people every time I go on a longer journey.
  2. Not so easy when many of these right lane hoggers decide to travel the same speed as the car/truck to the left of them creating a lot of angry drivers like me behind.
  3. Each to their own. I think my ideal massage is more to help relax the mind rather than the body. I hate masseuses drilling holes in my feet and dislocating my fingers and toes. I also don't get the pleasure pain that some others do from a strong massage.
  4. The younger and prettier, the better for a 2 hr oil massage. I don't really want someone old enough to be my mum massaging me. A beautiful lady gently massaging me helps destress way more than a punishing properly done Thai massage.
  5. Any thoughts on the period pain leave for women? I can't help feel they're taking the mickey at this point. If they want to be treated equally in the workplace, having a few days holiday per month for a stomach ache is absurd to me. Take a paracetamol or something, like they would do at home anyway and get on with it.
  6. I've never been a dog person, but I've accepted them more since living here, mostly because I feel sorry for them. Most actual Soi dogs appear scared of people in my area. They do get more aggressive though at night or early morning when it's cooler. The Soi dogs that some consider pets are the most dangerous if you ask me as they are more likely to attack others on the street to please their owners. The ones with no attachment I feel are just happy to be recognised.
  7. I agree! I don't live in Ubon but I just get my wine delivered from wine Pro. There's a few around the country which have a nice variety of wines mostly between 500 to 1000 baht.
  8. Another way is to use Malaiman Road once you get to Nakhon Pathom and turn right before the Kasetsart Kampaengsaen campus. This skips the busy traffic out of Nakhon Pathom, Salaya roadworks/contraflow on 338 and most of the very busy Kanchanapisek (9). No route is perfect during busy times, but I find this way less stressful as the cars keep moving.
  9. I know many teachers who are incredibly frustrated at being forced to conduct so much research. My local university expects papers to be published in q1 journals yet refuse to invest in top quality facilities required to do so. Even with those facilities, English is still a major hurdle.
  10. Email [email protected] and they should be able to give you one. They told me it's only available in Thai, which is what you want, but I managed to get an English version through them too.
  11. My friend is currently trying to get his motorbike license and they refuse to accept his yellow book or his pink card. Typical Thailand.
  12. The Pajero also shouldn't have been on the road with red plates at that time either.
  13. Just look at the number of people who went to pay their respects to the late queen and you will get an idea. The royal family is part of British culture that many are proud of. While politicians are busy bickering and point scoring, most of the royal family don't lower themselves to that level. The royal family are like the stiff upper lip of British society, that Harry seems intent on destroying.
  14. Even as a once regular tourist to the area, I feel your pain.
  15. The last guy we had to repair ours chipped away and cracked the toilet itself, so it was off to Global for a new toilet as well.
  16. I see lots of tourists here with young children. Of the ones I speak to, they are mostly well off Europeans. To me the issue with the 4am closing time is the zoning. For specific party areas I don't see the problem, which is what I understand this proposal is about. I would be concerned though if it was applied liberally. It's awful for the majority who don't go clubbing til the early hours when they are kept awake in their hotel rooms or homes by the thumping bass from bars in the distance (or Karaoke). Most tourists wouldn't know until it's too late. When friends come to visit me in my non-tourist area, they all complain about the noise at night. I've tried booking several different hotels to avoid the problem but there's always a bar open til the early hours.
  17. That's a very interesting point. I was initially looking to 'future-proof' my PC, so I wouldn't need to worry about performance for some time to come. I mostly use Lightroom, Photoshop and Vegas Pro, oh and look at ASEAN NOW.
  18. I've also been looking to build a new one but have been put off due to the ddr4 or ddr5 choice which also affects the motherboard to buy, and the costly graphics cards. After spending so much money recently, I think it's more prudent for me to wait another year to see if they can increase the ddr5 clock speeds and lower the latency. If I were to choose a supplier though, I'd stick to JIB unless tempted by other sellers on Lazada.
  19. Glad you got it sorted. Not the same bank, but I went into TMB a while back (before the name change) as I had a new passport. They said they couldn't update my passport number for the account so they still use my old one. Address, no problem though.
  20. Nakhon Pathom will be less congested unless you catch the Friday and Sunday traffic. Borromoratchanonani (or however it's spelt) is usually pretty decent, but you will have slow moving traffic leaving Bangkok between where the elevated road comes down and Salaya. Access to the expressway is easier to go in than out. The elevated road gives access to the outer ring road, but you will get stuck in traffic once it joins the sirat expy at Chatchujak. Leaving BKK you will get stuck in traffic at Ratchadamnoen, and the elevated an be atrocious until you get past the Kanchanapisek exit at busier times due those trying to cut in at the front of the queue. If you want to try a different route I'd say use Ratchapreuk, if you live near the Sathorn area anyway. Use Borromoratchanonani, then phet kasem and then 375 past Ban Phaeo. This road has two lanes and usually flows very quickly. It only has a couple of traffic lights on it and I've never had a speeding ticket from using it either. It will bring you out right between Samut Sakhorn and Samut Songkram. This road will avoid the Nakhon Pathom-Ratchaburi section which is always slow. The route I mention will still be slower than only using Rama 2, but if you hate gridlocked traffic, I think that could be worth a try for you.
  21. How did they find people not wearing seatbelts? From when they wind their window down at a checkpoint? I best remind the in-laws if so as they often forget.
  22. The wife, mother in law and father in law all hand me things to read the labels asking what's in them. The main reason is the text is too small.
  23. When do you foresee people here will stop wearing masks? I wore them like a good boy and had my vaccines as told, but now it is no longer a pandemic I've done my bit for society. If people are scared of getting a cold we will never move on here. I had a meal/a beer with some Thai friends last week. The guy sat next to me told me he had covid the day after. Am I worried? No.
  24. I thought the point in masks now that covid is classed as an endemic is to protect yourself. Why should I have to wear a mask for the rest of my life because others are overly paranoid? I'm with the OP on this one.
