  1. After hearing this threat for every little misdemeanour it's just like, yeah, whatever. I think I've now integrated to society here.
  2. It would be great if they did. We joined up late and are doing our best to use it before the year is up. We didn't use it the first few times as I'd just cook at home, but the sellers/local economy need us to go out and spend. Therefore we try to support as many of the local businesses (with nice owners) as we can. If we had to pay full price I'd just cook at home again as my cooking is generally better (can cook to our own tastes and use more quality ingredients)
  3. A similar thing happened in front of my home. Now we have a nicer looking new road, but it doesn't drain as well as the old one. The standing water on the road goes nowhere near the drains they installed. We had no problems at all with old road. Completely useless
  4. I prefer to use cash so I can see how much I am spending. It feels more real when I can see the money disappearing from my wallet rather than a number being taken away from my bank balance. I only really pay with QR codes when the sellers ask me to. No big deal to occasionally use them.
  5. They could buy that huge massage parlour that's for sale in bkk and turn it into a casino. Then any winnings could be spent in neighbouring establishments to support the local economy.
  6. Do they not put them in their Lao khao?
  7. If you're heading to Pattaya you may as well buy from one of the places already mentioned. For me, it's easier and less time consuming to make them at home.
  8. I know I'm nit-picking, but it should not be capitalised either.
  9. Why ruin the character of Hua Hin? If it turned into a casino town I'd start going elsewhere.
  10. I went to Nan a couple of weeks ago and everything. seemed open as usual. We only had one covid checkpoint on the way after Phrae when they pulled everyone in a car park to scan a qr code. If you're touring on your bike you'll probably miss that and all the roadworks on the way in
  11. Are you any good? The standard is quite high in bkk
  12. The current Thai culture rhetoric is simply that: what the government want to sell and indoctrinate as their culture is not the same as what it actually is.
  13. I didn't play the game for several years until I finally accepted to pay 100 per ticket rather than the official 80. I've recently seen 65 is a lucky number because of it being the next year. A number I tried to pick a few weeks ago was expensive too because a monk chose it. Ultimately I dont mind that much now as the seller separates the lucky numbers from the rest. It only sometimes affects me/my strategy when I stick to my opposite numbers until one wins eg 38 and 83.
  14. Is any political party here going to try and change this defamation law? It would definitely make the party seem more corruption free If so.
  15. Thank you Roel for putting my mind at ease. I received a response from bitkub in Thai, which wasn't ideal, and more importantly it didn't answer my question. I don't plan on receiving any ADA so I'll do nothing, just wait until the price goes back up again.
  16. Hi Guys. I guess I'm not the only one who faced this today so I expect others may be in the same boat as me. Does anyone know what we are supposed to do after this mornings downtime? They say that ADA has moved to a new address but I've no idea what that means I have to do with my Cardano. Does that mean I can't hold it with bitkub anymore and that I have to deposit it to another exchange? (I have etoro).
  17. For most of my life women (Thai included) have liked me for bring 'nice'. It doesn't help much when I just want no strings.
  18. I'm quite surprised with some of the responses here. Just because one 85 year old can use a phone or go jogging every day doesn't mean all can. My grandparents can't, but they are independent in most other ways. As much as my in laws want to use a smartphone, they are useless too. They can't tap the screen, it's like a 5 second hold. I've changed the settings as much as I can on the phone we gave them, but they can't do it, or remember what to press. All they can do is seemingly open every advert that pops up on their phone and accidentally turn the Wi-Fi off. What one can do though is buy a smartphone and never use it. Remove all apps but essentials (bloatware makes this an issue), then hand it to whoever requires them to scan something or use it.
  19. Why so many police officers? Are they meant to make the tourists feel safe? It's not exactly going to be a warm welcome is it.
  20. Once they start getting left for dead at the traffic lights by EVs I expect they'll soon start changing to EV pickups when they become available.
  21. After checking your profile you're on 16,903, over 15,000 ahead of my count.
  22. I think your post is an embarrassment to all expats here. The majority of Thai's are good people and will be sickened, just as much as we are, by this.
  23. For flooding many places. I live in Nakhon Pathom and when the rain comes it floods all three lanes of Phet Kasem frontage Road. It floods badly at the whale hotel and around the famous Cheddi. My normal car can not drive through these areas during heavy rain. I can't recall the other areas around the country but I've been 'clenched' in my car in multiple areas. I've not seen the roads closed off apart from the main road to Korat. Regarding no asphalt, if you go in the national parks like Kaeng Krachan the further you go, the more difficult they become as you start crossing the streams In the north, driving to your home stay style accommodations can be very tricky too.
  24. How is it for power and up hills? If I had to buy a new car right now I'd probably buy one of these.
