Free gifts once you've bought a phone, motorbike etc
alien365 replied to scubascuba3's topic in General Topics
It really depends. To give a few examples: The free mats with my new car were awful, so they are now gathering dust after buying some proper ones. Bluetooth speakers are rubbish quality, powerbanks are are usually OK and umbrellas, if I like the style. A xiaomi watch has probably been my best freebie. I'd rather they just reduce the price though than creating more clutter. -
I don't even think the lightweights would like this idea either if it increases their chances of being assigned seats next to the fatties.

Bangkok taxi driver accused of kicking out female passenger
alien365 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
From the original article: "According to Ploy, the driver did not listen and drove off the route. He then berated her for talking on the phone and told her to get out of the car. Ploy said she filed a complaint against the driver at Plubpla Chai Police Station, accusing him of insulting her. She then underwent a medical examination and was found to have panic symptoms after the incident. As a result, Ploy filed another complaint, accusing the driver of mentally assaulting her and keeping her in the car." So which is it? Did he tell her to get out of the car or kept her in the car? They're arguing over the fair and she still wanted him to drive her to the police station? I really don't like this woman's character at all: so vindictive. -
Toddler locked in car for hours after accidental self-locking

Fantastic parenting. She doesn't deserve a child! If the child hadn't locked the door, anyone could have just driven off with her daughter. -

Tell that to Subway who insist on payment by scan or credit card. -

Excise Dept Asked to Extend Electric Car Incentives
alien365 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It will help keep the Chinese happy. I don't mind. For a lot of people I think electric makes sense, it's just not attracting me just yet. -
I enjoyed the new top gear, not as much as the last one, but it was mostly good fun. Watching top gear is now like being with your mates rather than a serious car review program.

Tourism confidence in Thailand plummets amid economic jitters
alien365 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would have thought tourist confidence is also related to how tourists expect to be treated while here. It has probably plummeted partly because previous visitors did not feel welcomed enough to return. I've seen how badly some businesses here speak to tourists and its disgraceful. The unfair acts of dual pricing and overcharging also leave a bitter taste for many, including me. Thailand is also no longer that cheap. Prices have gone up, but quality continues to remain low. -
I dont go to my local market due to two tiered pricing and because I hate all of the stares. I just want to do my shopping. I am also more concerned about the quality of meat and pesticides used in the local markets.

Have you ever broken a Thai lady's heart?
alien365 replied to RamenRaven's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If you hover over his name, you will see he joined in 2018. His number of posts is not unusually low for that period. One of my neighbours has had her heart broken by several western men who if anything seemed to sponge off her rather than bring anything to the table. They were mostly from Scandinavian countries. She no longer believes that western men are better than Thai men. -
Is this Dengue vaccination a good idea?
alien365 replied to scubascuba3's topic in Health and Medicine
I might take it next year as the high risk season usually runs until October. I've had two bouts already, so I'm not keen on a third. -
Living the high life drinking a bottle of Leo or two waiting for the F1 practice 2 session to start in Monza. Yesterday though I tried a few Thai craft beers branded M32. Tried the hoppy pale lager, new England IPA and their IPA. I thought they were pretty decent. oh and a Coopers.

Is the dealership insurance for a new car good enough?
alien365 replied to Sandboxer's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
My 1 year insurance is about to run out with Tisco for my Ranger. They quoted over 20k so I asked for a 5k deductible. They said they don't have policies with deductibles????. Back to Roojai I go then at the end of the year for less than 10k (with the 5k deductible). The total sum insured is 100k less but there's better coverage for everything else. It won't be able to cover the cost of crashing in to a Rolls Royce, but a Merc won't be a problem. -
Dogs in my area don't seem to bother with me. If I am out walking, I tend to have a long scythe/sickle with me lol (I'm not sure of its exact name. It's about 180cm in length). I carry it as I am usually chopping some branches down or getting some fruits off the trees. I've met many packs of dogs while on my travels (without looking like some sort of grim reaper), but have yet to experience ones trying to bite me.
