  1. The E-visa platform is global but applications are processed by the local embassy. I had a query on my application and the request for further documentation came from the mfa.go.th address but I had to send the document to <[email protected]>. The same address confirmed receipt of the document. Dear Sir/ Madam, Received with thanks. Please check your online status and allow 3 working days for your visa application to be processed Kind Regards, Visa Team Royal Thai Embassy 29 - 30 Queen's Gate SW7 5JB
  2. Apologies, I misread your response as "not so" rather than the "So not" you posted. One needs to do what is required on the E-visa application and the statement I posted came from that webpage. Some questions that appear may not apply as the page has been designed to cover different circumstances. If you wish to skip a question for such a reason the simplest solution is to write out a brief statement, take a photo and upload it. You need to upload something for every question or you cannot proceed to submission. Apologies once again for my error.
  3. On your application for your non O E-visa did you upload a statement to the effect Insurance was no longer required in line with the webpage guidance?
  4. Everything is difficult for those that don't want to do it. Amazes me how people whinge about progress using smartphones and social media.
  5. Couldn't be more different when I arrived last night, IO was very pleasant, but then I had come with an appropriate E-visa. Only question she asked me was "When is your birthday?", bit surprised and had to think for a minute, when I said "today" she laughed and said "Happy Birthday".
  6. If you go to the E-visa webpage there is a popup that states the insurance requirements still in place from the 1st July. Attention : From 1 July 2022, proof of quarantine hotel/hospital booking is no longer required. Health insurance(s) are required only for Special Tourist Visa (STV), and Long-Stay Visas (Non-Immigration OA and OX) applications.
  7. I go to Sri Ratcha, same province. A couple of years ago my wife was told that the same photos couldn't be used, sent home to do new ones. Obviously some are aware it is the same photos.
  8. That's a good one. Thailand is quite entitled to impose any entry controls it sees fit just as other countries do. It is the foreigners in Thailand that should do the thinking, before the whinging.
  9. That would be falang mentality, do not offer because you think they don't want it.
  10. Late 2019 I had both done, 8 weeks apart, at Ban Phaeo hospital. I was quoted prices between 6K and 13K per eye. If Thais had it done on the social they got the 6K version but could pay the difference. I opted for the 13K and paid a premium for the hospital CEO to carry out the operations. In total I was around 40K for both eyes including initial consultation and all aftercare.
  11. Both price and risk. I was quoted between 6K and 13K per lens for mono focal, vario focal were 30K+ per lens. Never even considered vario focal. I wore vario focal glasses for several decades and on more than one occasion they weren't suitable. You can take glasses back to the shop.
  12. The more basic question is why do the "Goons" in other countries not allow visa exemption for Thai nationals. Foreigners in Thailand always think they are hard done by.
  13. Yes, works for me.
  14. Yes, when I said about 60% that was what they had put in the email. I got approval yesterday and it was the full fare. A couple of years ago I got about 30% for a 20 minute delay. Airlines need to up their game.
  15. If you are in the UK it is not IATA but ADR(Airline Dispute Resolution) you should turn to. https://www.aviationadr.org.uk/ I have had an Easyjet flight cancelled recently, and had to make 3 claims, ticket refund, expenses for alternative journey and compensation under UK261(previously EU directive 261) They paid the ticket fairly quickly but dragged their feet on the other 2. With the compensation they only paid out for me, it took 2 further claims before they paid out for my wife.
  16. The airline would only normally check your travel arrangements if going to Thailand visa exempt.
  17. You at risk of losing your money every time you spend it. Investing, is just a sophisticated term for spending, profit comes in a multitude of guises.
  18. I made a complaint to Qatar some years back, no response, after the second letter I received a voucher for USD250 in the post, no accompanying apology or anything, just a voucher. Worst customer service I have ever come across. Here in the UK I had a train delay a couple of days ago, never even thought about compensation. Received an email from the train company telling me I was entitled, got about 60% of the fare back.
  19. Residency is no more of a risk than any other investment. I was 62 when I built my own home, cost 900K to build and probably spent around a further 300K over the years. I have lived in it over 12 years now so it doesn't owe me anything and something for the wife to sell when I pass through the chimney.
  20. Both countries operate both visa exempt and e-visa so posters should make it quite clear to which they are referring. Brevity is one of the biggest problems on this forum. As far as I am aware it is only possible to leave and re-enter Thailand on the designated E-visa multi entry types, eg tourist, long term(O-A /O-X). The Multi-Entry option is not available for some of the Non O types on the E-visa platform, I have marriage and ME wasn't an option.
  21. I have just recently applied for a Non O based on marriage at London. One of the pages asks for the arrival date and the flight No but there was no requirement to show them anything regarding the booking
  22. You would have to explain that statement, it is anbiguous and contradictory. Both Vietnam and Thailand have an online E-visa system and you can only enter either country with an appropriate visa.
  23. When I got my ME Non O in HCMC the UK was already on the E-visa platform. As far as I am aware there are only 2 asian countries on the E-visa platform, China and South Korea.
  24. I suspect that those talking about agents have no idea where you are. I didn't, had to google it, didn't realise that there was a DLT over there, only knew about Mueang, Laem Chabang and Pattaya. I live near the 344/No 7 junction and use Mueang DLT. When I had to go last year my wife rang up and they said foreigners had to make appointment in person. We trotted along late morning to make the appointment and they said can you come back at 2pm. Not a problem, went and had something to eat, over and done with by 3.30. Good luck.
  25. There are different versions of problematic. Some have a problem agreeing to the declaration that is now required. If you want to travel anywhere you have to agree to the conditions of carriage, what's the problem? Some have a problem with the technology, I am 75 and for many of my age moving files from phone to computer and uploading documents is like a foreign language, that I can sympathise with, but younger generations going for a tourist visa shouldn't be a problem. Many want to circumvent the requirements and then claim a problem with the system. The E-visa platform has changed the way of doing visas, and people have to learn, it is not going away.
