  1. There isn't a politician in the world that isn't a stranger to the truth, which then gets distorted by the media. Who knows what to believe, but when you see how some people behave in the UK it is not surprising. Michael Gove stunned partygoers this weekend after he was spotted raving in an Aberdeen nightclub until the small hours of the morning. The Tory Cabinet minister was pictured in a suit dancing wildly at Bohemia, a techno club in the northeastern Scottish city. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/michael-gove-aberdeen-club-bohemia-pipe-techno-b1910743.html
  2. Why adopt anything? The PLF has been in place for a long time, of course like everything else you can break the law and risk the consequences. When I arrived I came through an E gate, never spoke to anyone. My PLF was checked quite thoroughly before boarding.
  3. They can link what they want when they want, irrespective of the views on this forum. My hospital registered me on Mor Phrom and my wife registered both of us with the local authority. When she went to pick up her appointment card from the local authority she saw my name on the list with the Mor Phrom appointment against it. Some functions in Thailand are deliberately not linked so local administration can set their own rules. As suggested, your info probably came from the COE application. I had one jab in Thailand and one in England and unfortunately know for a fact there is no link between the two, a problem I have yet to resolve.
  4. Yes, the info is not very good. I queried the 5 day/10 days and they said they would charge on a nightly basis, I did 6 nights. The food arrangement is very good, you just choose from the normal menu with an allowance of £15 for lunch and £20 for evening. Only downside is that if there a lot of people on room service it can be getting a bit cool by the time you get it, not a problem for lunch. You also get a complimentary laundry on a once per week basis.
  5. Quite. Following the financial crisis in the 90s Thailand put a lot of it's reserves into USD so wherever the dollar goes the baht will follow.
  6. Been using it since it started, about 20 years I think, never been a problem even here in Thailand. Very useful, can do my tax return in about 20 minutes and get the refund in about 5 days.. Far quicker than by post. But each to his own.
  7. It has nothing to to with the type of jab, AZ or pfizer, irrelevant. It is all about verification. I am in the UK now and have been through this.. I had my first AZ jab in Thailand on 7th June and went to a walk in in London a few days after arriving. She refused to vaccinate me as I could not get the app to open and she had to verify the 8 week gap. I had a screenshot but she wanted to see it in real time. Two days later I went to a walk in Sheffield and by this time I had resolved the problem with the app. There they weren't interested in the app, said it was a different system and didn't mean anything. They accepted what I said on the first dose and gave me the second. They gave me a card indicating I have had the 2nd dose but it is of no use outside the UK. The only arrangements on vaccine recognition for travel the UK has is with the EU and US, and many are complaining about the lack of control on that. It will be a long time before countries like Thailand will get to join the club. You do not need to isolate for the 10 days, you can take a Day 5 Test to Release and finish early. I did a TTR with same day results and finished on the morning of Day 6. If you have difficulty self isolating let me know and I can give you some info, I did it at the Holiday Inn at Gatwick.
  8. The previous post was old info. It used to be 44 years and that was reduced to 30 years and then increased to 35. Qualifying years are exactly that, a year where you have maintained contributions throughout the year. I have 48 qualifying years and one incomplete year, I was 65 in the middle of the tax year. You do not have to pay NI all the time, if you are not working you have to claim credits or you could lose the year. From age 60 to 65 used to be automatically credited but not sure if that is still the case. If you sign up to the Government Gateway you can access your NI record and see exactly how many qualifying years you have. There is no such thing as a "prior record", only one record based on your NI number from the date of first registration with the tax office.
  9. Absolute garbage. The immune system response to the vaccine is unique to each individual, for every vaccine there will be those that get a very good response and some very poor, everybody else will be somewhere in between. The figures given out for each vaccine are based on a certain sample & variant, different samples would give different figures. Antibody testing is still in it's infancy, current figures are purely guidance, it will be a long time yet before there is any accurate data on protection levels.
  10. When you connect your phone to a computer there are different options available. To see photos etc you need to be connected as media device. Go to settings and look for USB tethering, you phone may be on a default of 'charge only'.
  11. The police do not have the resources to deal with domestic burglaries, you put your ISIS flag up to get surveillance 24/7.
  12. Neither airlines or governments can operate internationally on a unilateral basis, although some seem to think otherwise. The general conditions of carriage for airlines are based on several international conventions. It is uncharted territory but very unlikely a blanket ban without exemptions could be imposed on international travel without a breach of a convention involved, in other words a legal minefield. Domestic policy is another matter altogether. Rather than speculating on what airlines may or may not say, the more likely problem is where you want to disembark, which comes back to reciprocal recognition.
  13. Yes Bill, I was also 1st dose 7th June and also had 27th Sept as 2nd. The 2nd got changed to the 16th August and then put back to the 30th a few weeks back. Came over to the UK on the 8th and had the 2nd on the 15th.
  14. Much the same as me coming through Frankfurt. At Heathrow I came straight through an E gate, never spoke to anyone. I got a telephone call on Day 3 but no visit. Did the Day 5 test with same day result and came out of isolation on Day 6.
  15. I meant the card was useless, the same as everyone else. You cannot access your records without the NHS app and you cannot access the app unless registered with a GP. I wrote to the NHS some time ago about changing my address details and they replied that they cannot access patient records, it can only be done through a GP I have handed in the forms but it takes about a week or so to get processed and get your login details. You would need that info before there can be any resolution.
  16. Quite. People need to very careful with the PLF. I traveled via Germany and at BKK airport they only glanced through the PLF but at the gate leaving Frankfurt it was checked very thoroughly and I saw many having to redo it. The lady in front of me hadn't put her seat number on it.
  17. More false information from TVF members. The problem has nothing to do with the vaccine or the country. It is all about a vaccine status arrangement between countries, and the only arrangement that exists at the moment is between the UK, EU and US. As others have said, other countries including Thailand are 'Work in Progress'. As far as recognition is concerned, the Thai vaccine is recognised in the UK, I had 1st AZ in Thailand and received the 2nd here in the UK a few days ago. I have an NHS card indicating that I have been vaccinated twice, useless for international travel, but here in the UK from 29th August I will be "fully vaccinated".
  18. Why quote me?, never said they did. Been there and done it week before last.
  19. Another irrelevant thread, mix and match is not an issue, it wouldn't matter if you had 2 doses of AZ or anything else, the problem is still there. The UK, EU and US have made an arrangement among themselves over reciprocal recognition and many are complaining about the ability to police that arrangement. It will be years, if ever, before emerging economies will get to join the club.
  20. You do not get a certificate in the UK, have to use the NHS app.
  21. You are making the assumption that everyone can be vaccinated, there will never be a blanket ban and alternative arrangements will always be in place.
  22. Not quite. I traveled to the UK about 10 days ago, the docs are checked by the airline, not by immigration. The airline could check the test result quite thoroughly, as they did mine, but may only make sure the PLF has been completed rather than read it all. Needs to be careful with the test type, PCR is normally 72 hours and antigen 48 hours. He will also need to book the Day 2 and Day 8 tests and enter the booking details on the PLF, if not done properly you cannot complete the form. I used Dante Labs, good service and £84 for the 2 tests. I traveled via Germany and was checked quite thoroughly again at Frankfurt, this time the PLF was examined, would not be an issue with Thai Airways. At arrival in UK I passed through an E gate without speaking to anyone but there are notices all over that random checks will be carried out. I did the 5 day test to release and if wants info on that you can PM me. I got my second dose of AZ exactly one week after arrival. The staff at the vaccination centre were horrified, jumped back like I was diseased. They had never heard of it, went to check, and then let me in. The whole approach in the UK revolves around UK holidaymakers and international travelers are more of an inconvenience than anything.
  23. Never going to happen, but I can see the rapid antigen test having a greater role.
