  1. United States Coast Guard will hold a press conference at 3:00pm Boston time. MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Coast Guard to hold press briefing to discuss ROV findings
  2. SSA Office of Earnings & International Operations (OEIO). https://www.ssa.gov/foreign/ Note, they changed the fax number from last year, the new number is 1-877-385-0645. However, they also changed the wording ! (2022): You may send inquiries and forms to us by fax at 833-719-0632. (2023): You may send letters to us by fax at 877-385-0645. So it's possible they no longer accept 7162 by fax because covid disruptions have passed. I would call before faxing to see if they still accept the forms. NB: Last year's SSA page: www.ssa.gov/foreign Nov 17 2022
  3. Below is from my post in last year's thread: Just to be safe, I faxed my 2nd letter to them today. A tip, the only fax machines I found were limited to A4 size (no adjustments). The personalized barcode is on the letter's edge so the fax operator shrank the letter to A4 size before sending. The SSA's fax machine received the letter with no problem. Their fax number is 1-833-719-0632.
  4. Received mine June 17 Saturday. Considering last year's experience, I will fax back one copy, then post 2 copies via regular international mail spaced a week apart to avoid excessive mail registration charges.
  5. I think you have it backwards. From all we know about the human body, airway resistance, like all resistance training, helps develop better lungs especially when young. Think sherpas. Airway resistance training, including resistance breathers, is popular among athletes and health enthusiasts. It has even been found to significantly lower blood pressure. Next time the doctor complains about my blood pressure I'll say "Sorry, haven't been wearing my mask." https://medicalxpress.com/news/2022-09-resistance-breathing-blood-pressure.html
  6. Country A: Traditionally wears masks when ill to protect others or when there is reasonable exposure to respiratory disease such as an outbreak or pandemic. Has little fear about masks. Country B: similar until recent crippling political polarization where half support mask mandates, punishment, and claim non wearers are murderers, and the other half make wild claims that masks don't work, cause illness and lasting damage. Obsessed about masks. Question: Which country is normal. Which country overall has a more reasonable medical view.
  7. This what many (non bar) Thai women have explained to me for nearly 40 years. This is also the prevailing experience of my broad Thai family over decades. Woman good man bad. Any your evidence is?
  8. If the medication is causing her insomnia then its name is the most essential question that can be asked. If you are sensitive about discussing it, then Google "<medicine name> WIKI" and find any paragraphs mentioning insomnia or sleep problems, then post them here without the medicine's name. If you see a generic name, then better to wiki that.
  9. Kyiv keeps quiet, Russia lying, there is very heavy fighting but what's going on? Jake Breo has an excellent new video putting it into perspective. Apparently not bad. Note Jake's comment about progress after the Allied Forces broke through Normandy lines versus before.
  10. Sorry, you missed my point. I was agreeing except that: In Thailand, virtually all Thai men treat women very poorly. Thus, many Thai women (not bar girls) eventually gravitate to foreigners because they will be treated better.
  11. This is only true where there are no Thai men.
  12. 'pretending it was common and that many people did it out of courtesy on a regular basis is being disingenuous' You're entitled to your opinion but not your own facts. Thai do frequently ware masks when ill to prevent transmitting disease to others. The concept is not new, I grew up aware protecting others was a thing, my mom was a nurse. It's also widely known and always has been that if you are sick and in close contact with others they are likely to catch it. They knew that in 1918, and wore masks.
  13. My niece does, whenever she has a respiratory infection, as do many Thai. Masking seems to come and go with contagion levels. Since 1918!
  14. Four day live conference with the fastest spreading, most infectious respiratory virus in history. Most unmasked. 13% cases. Up to 87% vaccine effectiveness?
  15. Deep shift in Russian political landscape. -- Putin now publicly supports Shoigu’s order to disband Wagner -- Prigozhin talks revolts and firing squads. -- If not Putin, who is protecting Prigozhin? What's going on? https://igorsushko.substack.com/p/key-takeaways-from-prigozhins-hour Author's twitter link:
  16. Anyone living here through Thaksin's full tenure has an very good idea what he does and doesn't like. Human life being one thing he frequently demonstrated disdain for.
  17. Do you know the phrase 'get you facts straight' ? 1 twisted fact + 2 missing facts => denial. No one said the initial vaccines would stop Omicron. But that is alluded. But if you read my words carefully, you can see where the experts failed badly. Can you see it?
  18. Don't forget to bring back two airliners full of cash worth billions when you come. Talk about abuse of power...
  19. That's sound advice. No, that's respiratory advice. But still good advice.
  20. That correct, and precisely what a vaccine does, give you symptoms to develop immunity in a much safer way.
  21. Not exactly. Science is the process of challenging ideas and misinformation. But challenging ideas requires evidence and reason. One can't claim a peer reviewed study in a top journal is 'absurd' without evidence or valid reasoning. Richard Feynman is famous for suggesting we must challenge the experts (not science) but he also notes we must listen to all the evidence, not some, not what we like, and don't say "science says", rather "the experiment or evidence has shown". 30 years ago he clearly foresees today's problems of soundbite misinformation: "I think we live in an unscientific age in which almost all the buffeting of communications and television words, books, and so on are unscientific. That doesn’t mean they are bad, but they are unscientific. As a result, there is a considerable amount of intellectual tyranny in the name of science." [ref] So go ahead and say someone is wrong, but show evidence or join the unscientific.
  22. Anything asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. -- Hitchens' Razor You provide no evidence for your claim that the scientific modeling in the Lancet paper is nonsense. You also twist the scientific meaning of 'assume' to conspiratorially suggest vaccines don't work. But you know math, modeling, and error bars so you also know it's straight forward to prove your point, within reasonable limits (via simple calculation), Perhaps you should make the effort to back your claims, or retract them?
  23. Depleted Uranium for everyone. A just posted video of a Leopard 2A6 tank in Ukrainian service. At precisely 16:00s you can just see the black tip of a depleted uranium round being loaded, at which point the video is clipped. These rounds fit all Western tanks in Ukraine and are recently improved to insure penetration of the most modern Russian armor. Sorry Vlad.
  24. In Thailand, what you see is not what you get, or maybe not there at all. You'll never 'see' by reading foreigners in Rolling Stone or New Mandala. The cultures are not translatable. It's like peeling an onion and at the end there's nothing there, not even the peels, and your hands are dry. Nothing happened, except your money is gone, and there is no evidence, was it there to begin with? Your friend Mr Thaksin was just as bad and worse at the same time, on a Thai scale. He made two big mistakes, possibly he too didn't fully appreciate Thai culture. He left an ugly trail of violence behind him, and openly played the I'm better than you game. Both very unacceptable in Thailand. So now he's gone. And no, he's not coming back. Or maybe he will come back and also not be here, and no one will know what happened, Thai style.
