  1. I thought it was usually TAT chasing it's tail.. or so it seems..????
  2. We actually get stuff from Ubon to London and many times they arrive in a week. We haven't lost anything yet. These are usually small boxed parcels. From London to Bkk we've had a couple of things go missing, but that was Covid times with less flights, things storing up etc
  3. Tests are appropriate for use within 14 days after traveling from locations with high infection rates or after contact with someone who contracted COVID-19 .. That's one way of keeping the numbers down....????
  4. What about driving without insurance. I used to pick up cars in Gibraltar/La Linea on many, many occasions - on a few occasions I asked could I extend the contract over the phone - not possible if you don't come to the office. If you're not here you'll be committing an offence by driving without insurance.
  5. Surely the best coin is to: Find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you'll have good luck.
  6. I'd also look at the issues you may experience when things don't go to plan: Network down / slow. Thailand still has many issues so you need a backup to connect Issues with your security on your PC to connect to the office Office software if it's required to get through your office firewall fails Remote IT support from the office Your PC crashes. Requirement of a new one and loading office software remotely If you're expected to do up to the sec' work/support can be troublesome. As long as your office know you're in Thailand you should be ok, but I'd bring (or did) a backup PC
  7. Asiatique on the riverfront up-scale market stalls and restaurants. JJ/Chatuchak for the market. Silom/Lumpini Sukhumvit from around Nana, sois up to and around Terminal 21. Obv' the large number of very large shopping centers. As someone else said in the center, public transport is best during the day.
  8. Buy your wife a sewing machine - my wife alters any clothes when we're in the UK if necessary In BKK I just get the lady on the Soi to do it - usually @75-100 baht. She has told my wife she'll no longer alter my shorts as they're held together just by her thread ???? - but at 100 an alteration I still want my favourite shorts.
  9. Isn't that a simple DBS check - you get the results back in a few days. I did one recently for an application - my Thai wife did one too recently for ID purposes. Cheap and straightforward. Saying that we've never had any criminal convictions.
  10. No - that's exactly what I'd do - negotiate from there! Exactly what Thai's would do.
  11. The reason my parents never come to visit - they'd be prisoners in the Condo block. My Dad has a mobility scooter - taxis don't suffice other going from A- B, to see the city no window shopping.
  12. My sister in law did offer to get me one for free initially without attending anything many years ago - she works for the govt. I did it the "right" way - maybe my defenses are weakening ????
  13. I've used both of these when buying properties in Thailand(Sterling to Baht) - good rates, fast and competitive. I use DeeMoney to transfer money back.
  14. Samed is a nightmare on the way to / from the pier on Songkran. I've had people try to get into our car with flour/water. Slapped it all over the car including windscreen so you can't see. If returning to BKK head the other way out of town to get on the main road. I've spent many, many Songkrans there - just go outside the "idiot hours" - early in the morning(first speedboats @ 8-830), hard to avoid on the way back unless you return very early. Samed Villa is always a good choice , easy to walk where you wish.
  15. Why don't you ask your Mum - seems you like you need comforting.... ????
  16. Can you extend an expired 2 year driving license - just pre Covid ?
  17. My wife got a flight LHR-DUBAI-BKK return with Emirates for 490 in late Feb' for 85 days. She is allowed to change the tickets with Emirates for free. Re Britain, in England all Covid restrictions have been removed re masks etc - not required on transport etc, and all open. Scotland have their own rules.
  18. The Take That take off was brilliant - 'Come Back My Car Share Buddy' https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/video/tvandshowbiz/peter-kays-car-share-character-sings-come-back-my-car-share-buddy-in-final-ever-episode/
  19. Could have thought, there's no way this guy is married - he spends way too much time on TV/Asean commenting when his wife would have had him doing chores... ????
  20. I don't think you want fast - although I did - my wife's suggestion was thorough ???? I think I was in Molly Mallones(now closed) down the road in Soi Convent about 5 mins after I exited for a pint and a paper ????
  21. I've had a couple done at BNH hospital in Rama 3 - https://www.bnhhospital.com/ if you look at the website they have offers on or maybe give them a call. Mine was in at 7(earliest time), out around 1-2 p.m. after interview with doctor to review results.
  22. I've been to Ubon quite a few times as my wife is from there. It's quite quiet, but the more I go the more I find. Has a Central etc. Great eateries by the river. I like the place down by the lake - Huay wang nong I think it's called. Nice cluster of bars to sit outside and just watch the world go by. Gets busier at the weekend, but nothing like Patts or BKK. Opens about 5 so nice for an early beer as the sun sets. Also watched premiership there. We picked up a hire car at the airport(pre-arranged and cheap) for your stay if you just want to look around initially.
  23. You have to give it to Ronaldo - no disputing facts... I actually saw a Utd defensive line at one point - I had to look up again
