  1. What happens if you get stopped "up north" by the police without your passport ? If you tell them it's with immigration, they may ask which one and check, esp if you're involved in an incident, accidental or otherwise.
  2. Have you never met anyone with a temper - rational thought is for afterwards when you say sorry...
  3. From the UK government website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19#if-you-are-not-fully-vaccinated If you are not fully vaccinated Travelling with children Note: The links mentions the PCR test, passenger locator forms etc On return to Thailand you need to complete the Thai Pass scheme. PCR test 72 hrs prior to arriving in Thailand, one day hotel stay to confirm Covid free. Another non-PCR test on day 5. This could all change by May though...
  4. I know there was a saying a while ago that the engagement ring should be 3 month's full salary - I assumed trumpeted by the diamond industry ???? In London you obv' have Hatton Gardens. There are a number of antique stores there that sell nice older ones cheaper than the main dealers that they will customise. BTW - I bought my wife an expensive one from Hatton Gardens - she never wears it as she's scared of the diamond coming out !!
  5. The Chinese embassy told the Chinese in the Ukraine to show a Chinese flag on their cars etc..
  6. Please see comment from @internationalism below. There is no need if transiting, only if staying in Dubai
  7. I'd try to ensure I had digital AND paper copies Thai Pass Passport Covid/Booster vaccine docs Insurance Hotel Bookings Home PCR test result - some like Emirates require this to be within 48 hrs Return ticket where applicable Know where you're meeting your hotel contact in departures Mobile phone to download apps
  8. Rubbish - my wife is a doctor at private hospitals in Bangkok - her salary can cover our living costs.
  9. FYI Emirate got back with a personal letter from AIG. Those personal details are on page 1. Cover is for 31 days max. This is available if booked before 31st March. 10. The insurance cover does seem to cover the Thai Pass requirement. My wife is going back next week so I've just sent an email to them requesting it - not that she needs it for the Thai Pass as she's Thai, but no harm in having a personalised copy.
  11. That's a superb price(1600) considering that road & the time it will take - I used to do it every few weeks from R2/R3. Ok on the way down early - on the way back, I've taken 6/7 hrs(don't come back on a Sunday ). The road is a nightmare with trucks ???? I've always paid more than that from Rama 2 & Rama 3 Central area before I started driving down.
  12. My Thai wife applied for a Thailand Pass this morning - travelling end of this month, From booking & paying for a hotel for the Day 1&5 T&G in Bangkok, getting confirmation from the hotel, filling in Thai pass, to receiving her Thai pass' QR code took less than 3 hrs. Note: Obv' she doesn't have the insurance section
  13. England doesn't require a PCR test on entry in your case. Airlines may - my wife is travelling back with Emirates via Dubai and they do not require a test if just transiting in Dubai. There should be a section on the QATAR website re transiting requirements. It seems to relate to your final destination.
  14. Adding an additional Day-5 hotel stay I don't believe is an improvement, just a reason many will not go. My Thai wife and I planned on going at the end of the month, due to this day-5 "improvement" my wife will be going alone, I don't fancy the risk of a lovely 10 day hospital stay. I've read stacks of messages whereby people have created multiple T&G applications due to issues - I wonder how many actually entered from the above figure or is submission calculated as registered, maybe skewing the figures.
  15. My wife just booked a return flight London-Dubai-BKK with Emirates. We know we need one on the way out for Thailand, but not on the return to UK. It's down to the final destination: https://www.emirates.com/uk/english/help/covid-19/dubai-travel-requirements/tourists/ Before you travel Transiting passengers are not required to present a COVID 19‑PCR test certificate unless it is mandated by their final destination.
  16. The missus has just booked a flight back to Thailand via T&G. Once she's back I'll start a new thread re British Citizenship if it's helpful to anyone. A few posts on here have been helpful to us so I think we should reciprocate. Regards
  17. FYI - We did the biometrics for the BRP last Thursday(11 a.m.), we received the physical BRP via TNT courier this Wednesday. Good luck to others that are doing it.
  18. They may not have to - but their policy said they would... I can't remember the thread but it contained a number of policies that would and would not cover if you had symptoms. Not related to the Thai basic covid insurance Much the same as policies bought abroad - if they say you are covered you are covered. I'm not talking about the Thai Covid insurance and nor was the person I responded to.
  19. These are both part of the most famous medical schools in Thailand. Maybe worth trying these. They're both government hospitals I believe, but they have a semi-private section 1.Siriraj Hospital www.siphhospital.com/en/medical-services/treatment-center/cancer-center 2.Chula Hospital https://chulacancer.net/ Good luck.
  20. For anybody preparing for this - this is fyi: My wife submitted her ILR application docs & got an appointment for her biometrics and fingerprinting for just under 2 weeks later. There were a number of appointments available raging from free to £125 - we used Croydon and got a free one, if we'd have paid more we could have got an earlier one. The application was based on ISA savings, so no bank statements, employment details etc. We went to Croydon on Thursday at 11 a.m. had the fingerprinting and biometrics done in 15 mins – plus 10 minute queuing. We got the successful result on the same day before 5 p.m. Costs: ILR application: £2389 BRP: £19.20 Super priority service: £800 Total: £3208.20 If anybody has any questions please don’t hesitate to PM me. Below is our document checklist – this is all not necessary but my wife is very meticulous. Proof of Application x 8 Files APPLICANT 1. CURRENT PASSPORT 2. 2014 2019 PASSPORT 3. 2011 2016 PASSPORT 4. 21. It all depends on the condo/juristic management. In my places we have a pass which comes with the condo - usually one per apt. All ours have a condo pass which changes every year and has to be renewed. It's all registered and the security guard will check number plates against the condo number in the parking bays/entry-exit. If not renewed over 12 months juristic dept can get the "council" involved who can remove it. In some I've seen cars parked there for years ( and very, very nice ones ) but they must own a condo in the building and pay their fees. If you pay the condo fees, no problem, even if you don't live in it. It doesn't matter if taxed or not - it's private land.
  22. It does seem that way. I understand the day-1 test ( so two tests within 3-4 days ) Day 5(so maybe 8 days after your first test) I think is ridiculous after you've been walking around for 4 days. We own several apartments within a couple of mins of the Suk' Soi 11 hotel where we're planning on staying - so I literally have to leave my balcony and go a couple of mins to check into a hotel for a day-5 test - enforced stay I don't know. BTW - my wife is a doctor and she thinks it's madness. My wife wanted to go straight to Ubon after day-1, but she can't as no SHA++ hotels. Basically screws up plans. For tourists who want to explore, it's just another stopper.
