  1. I'm preparing to be called a 'hater' but this is really not so. It's just that I do find it amazing that a fantastic Nation like the USA, could have chosen this Guy as a President and now as a Candidate for re-election. All those amazing Folks in the USA but Trump for President ???? I've had a look around and this seems to be the list of his current woes . . . 1. Recently found guilty of defaming E Jean Carroll a second time and being ordered to pay $83.3 million following an earlier payment of $5 million for defamation and sexual abuse. Trial completed. 2. Hush money trial in NY re. $130,000 paid to Stormy Daniels. 34 felonies for falsifying business records. Trial scheduled for April 15th. Judge Merchan 3. Under appeal atm - Trump organisation found guilty of repeated lies exaggerating property and asset values to obtain favourable loans and also underdeclaring property values for tax purposes. Penalties of $464 million including interest awarded but deferred on appeal with a bond being lodged for $175 million. If the appeal fails, $464 million will be liable plus more interest. Judge AG Letitia James. 4. Scheduled for May atm Classified documents case in Florida. 40 counts of wilful retention of documents under the Espionage Act and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Trump, is being very cooperative in fielding delays and for me, it's a very much, 'watch this space'. 5. Tentative date for trial August 5th - the Georgia votes conspiracy. Under the 'Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act' - 13 counts including racketeering, forgery, perjury, filing false documents, false statements and others. Judge Fani Willis, Fulton County DA. 6. Awaiting a decision from the Supreme Court on the question of possible immunity. On 6th January 2021, Trump’s supporters "staged a violent attack on the US Capitol in an effort to disrupt the congressional certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. A bipartisan Senate report later concluded that seven people died in connection to the insurrection". Four counts of conspiracy. 7. Legal costs. Reputedly, donations from Trump supporters are directed to paying his enormous and increasing legal fees. 8. Truth Social - there is widespread incredulity at the Stock Market valuation of Truth Social. Trump has not tried to realise any value by divesting as it would be likely to collapse the share price. Worth noting for Trump supporters, that he has vowed as his first action if he regains the Presidency, to pardon all the convicted rioters on that murderous January 6th. Just for the record, I was getting confused by all these different cases - this is my effort to get it clear for myself. Good Luck to the USA. E. & O. E.
  2. That's 'up to' 150 million visitors, which if I recall correctly, would be almost 4 times the present maximum achieved. Just imagine the chaos at Airports and in Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok. And the effect on pollution levels in BKK and CM. It's good to have ambition but this is OTT and no more than a dream . . .
  3. Skip - a required 'Power of Attorney' was also missing and is needed.
  4. Thaibeachlovers - re. our earlier exchange, apparently Trump faces 91 criminal charges and 4 indictments !
  5. Thaibeachlovers - "IMO if they wait two years without any prosecutions then slap 91 on at a politically sensitive time it certainly seems politically motivated." I don't agree. It's Trump's Lawyers that have been prevaricating and procrastinating indefinitely, on his instructions. But Justice is going to prevail, I'm sure.
  6. Yellow - re. "A daughter that is a political operative that has a vested interest in getting Trump." She happens to have a job in a small digital marketing Company - "Authentic is a full-service digital marketing agency for non-profits and campaigns that unleashes the power of the internet". They have been engaged by the Democrats in the past. You overstate the point because you are desperate to defend the indefensible Trump.
  7. Nauseous - hasn't Trump just paid $93 million re. the E Jean Carroll case. Court penalties in the USA are routinely mindboggling. Trump was originally required to post a bond for $464 million which he failed to do, he was then given 10 more days to find $175 million - that was quite a favour.
  8. Yellow I am surprised to see you are Advanced 12/14, FWIW Trump is a despicable bully - it's typical that he targets the daughter of the Judge and anyone else he can get to. Lefty or Righty you don't know, so wind it in a little.
  9. Chip - I expect there are some other matters that I understand better than you but if you have do something to divulge, please do so. It would be more helpful. Just a dig takes the thread nowhere . . . .
  10. So crazy it must be a stunt ! Otherwise absolutely shocking and disgusting - she should be prosecuted.
  11. It seems to me I'm reading about this and similar situations much more often than in the past. Is that right ? Whilst it's sad for the individuals concerned, Thailand has it's Laws about foreigners working and those who choose to flout that Law are pushing their luck ! Is there a 'clampdown' under way ?
  12. Just say NO !! You'll need to say NO again to your Thai wife, so start NOW. B230,000 ? Say sorry, NO dowry possible ? If she loves you, she'll marry you anyway . . . . .
  13. Hang on. The MOT fee is B300 and my tax only B2,500 DIY. GN.
  14. Hi. Saab! xxxxxxxx More than 50 years ago I had two old Saab 96 (?), the 3 cylinder 2-stroke, one with a good body and one with a good engine. I did the swap of engines before 10.00am - so easy. Those were the days!! Take the Focus in yourself, give the missis a break and take it to the tax centre. Why do these ladies think we can't do anything for ourselves. ATB
  15. There's many centres - pop in, ask the question and I'm sure you can go in early, maybe more than a week. Check all the bulbs and the brakes then you should sail through. My local place blacks up the faded number plates too. A Focus - nice ! In my town, after you have the 'MOT', there's a drive through service for the 'road tax'. GL
  16. Yes it can M8. No problem. If your car is driveable, it should be OK GL
  17. Nauseus - I'm not sure where you are coming from but this - "Funny, this court says that Trump overvalued property values but then impose impossibly overinflated fines." I'm afraid those penalties imposed are typical and standard of the crazy amounts, it's the culture in litigious USA. So Trump is not singled out in anyway in fact he has been favoured. It escapes my memory but can you tell me how many criminal charges Trump is facing? A witch hunt? Or justice at last . . . . And you support him ? Is that a good idea for you ?
  18. Yellow . . . . ""Why should Trump be gagged? No one else is. The judge's daughter in a political operative that stands to gain financially when her father convicts Trump for the BS charge." The poor Woman he abuses is irrelevant to the case, just a target dragged in. Trump should be gagged as a totally irresponsible moron who tried to overturn the 2020 election result and recently posted a picture of the USA President bound and gagged in the back of a pick up truck - (the bullet in the head is uncertain but evident). Every time he opens his mouth the ginger whinger speaks nonsense. I'm sure you're a decent Guy but HOW can you go along with this carp ?
  19. $175 million is an astronomic amount. When the amount was reduced from $464 million (?) and Trump was given another 10 days, it caused some comment. Of course if the appeal fails, $464 will be still be the penalty but I surmise Trump was given extra time and a lower amount because the Court know he's ready as always, to holler about being a victim and martyr ! So April 15th it is then, atm ! Should be interesting . . . .
  20. Get it right Guys Trump hasn't put up any cash at all - he's found someone to issue the bond and he has provided surety for that somehow or other. As above : "The bond is backed by Knight Specialty Insurance, a company from California. However, the court document doesn’t say what Trump used as collateral to secure the bond." I see the NY Judge has extended the gagging order to include the Judges daughter, Court Officials and Families. Trump really is a menace and I can't see how anyone can support him. Ouvrez les yeux ! (?)
  21. If you book a room at the Hotel Vismaya on Soi 43, King Kaew Rd, B1200, they allow you to park under canopy for B100 per night. Makes a lovely pre/post flight stay and about 5 minutes from Suvannabhumi. Haven't done it for a few years, but worth a try . . . . Left my car for 6 weeks there before !
  22. Thailand should be very concerned. Pliable as ever to China's 'charms', they have become a dumping ground for EV's hard to sell elsewhere. Thailand needs to pay attention to the continuing prosperity of it's own motor vehicle manufacturing,
  23. Why be mean to some taken in by this story ? To trick is what it was designed to do. It looked quite plausible. Cheer up - you should be worrying instead that Harry Kane, under an ancient German Law that rules if you play in the German league, you have to play for the German National side. It's very well done https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/01/germany-invoke-rule-stop-harry-kane-playing-england-euros/ Myself I think Harry's efforts will be much missed . . .
  24. Eddie - re. your last - of course you do get something back but what you will get back hasn't been sitting in an Eddie bucket, it will come from the current tax take. What "you've been paying" has been paid into the current tax take.
  25. Thanks for the reply Eddie. You are right, there's much anger amongst working taxpayers about those on benefits, the costs of immigration and the high level of taxes producing a poor level of services. You seem nearer to retirement but think how working youngsters feel as they contemplate a lifetime of work, (probably unable to buy a house), with uncertainty about what their own State pension might be later as demographic trends impact. Taking away the triple lock would be perceived as an injustice by Pensioners, but if it remains and say, RPI is 2% and wage growth 5%, workers burdened with higher ever taxes will perceive injustice if Pensioners receive a 5% hike. On balance we need to save the dosh and get working taxes down by this smidgeon and every other smidgeon that we can. It's those in work now we all depend on.
