How to retire in Thailand
BritManToo replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I gave my daughter 100bht/day while at university, same time as yours, plus 30kbht/year for fees and books. My 12yo son is just starting a private English + Chinese class at my local government school, 20 students in the class at a cost of 21kbht/year (inc books and uniforms). Thailand is cheap as chips! -
How to retire in Thailand
BritManToo replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yeah but your idea's on inflation in Thailand is nonsense. Both the exchange rate and my pensions have risen way faster than inflation in Thailand in the past 10 years. The general Thai population would be starving long before I, as they're getting nothing like the wage rises my pension gives. Thai wages have actually gone down between COVID and now! The Thai government can't allow much in the way of inflation. -

There's no requirement to spend 40kbht/month, you just need to bring that much in. Alternatively 400kbht in the bank and you can live off what you grow in your garden with no money at all required. -
How to retire in Thailand
BritManToo replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm going out for coffee with a pal later today. 25bht for a hot latte sitting in the shade of a straw roof awning, we go there because the coffee is really good, then a short drive along rural roads to another coffee shop in a light jungle setting for a 40bht banana smoothie. Can't say that I feel I'm missing out on anything. I'm happy enough sitting out in the open air most of the day.- 222 replies

How to retire in Thailand
BritManToo replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Lunch for me and my kid yesterday was omlette+cheese+bacon+mushroom ........ about 25bht for both of us. Dinner was Spagetti+chicken in sauce from 7-11 ........ 40bht each. Breakfast for me was a cheese sandwich ....... 25bht (ish). I thought the video was fairly realistic, but they forgot to mention VISA is easier in Cambodia and the Philippines @ approx $300/year.- 222 replies

What's a reasonable price for a lady drink?
BritManToo replied to TheFatOne's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I've generally found 3 dates = 1x sex in the UK. The dates don't have to be with your wife, but the expense is the same. Generally a cash payment in a Thai bar is a lot less expensive, and gives a guaranteed result. -
Debit Card.
BritManToo replied to NoshowJones's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
So don't have a debit card on the account and pay for everything using your phone app and QR scans. Or On your phone banking app deactivate your debit card when it's not in use. -
Phuket hotel boob: Portuguese guest’s topless strut causes chaos
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
As long as they have somewhere for me to hang my hat and coat, I'm good to go. -
Phuket hotel boob: Portuguese guest’s topless strut causes chaos
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
I thought another poster had previous pointed out her name is 100% Indian. So one would suspect she's from Portugal but with Indian immigrant parent(s). -

Isn't true ............ in the places you've been. On the beach in SoF the topless girls stand so near to you that their nipples are brushing against your arm. Exciting the first time it happens in your life, after that, not so much. -
Phuket hotel boob: Portuguese guest’s topless strut causes chaos
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
That's because you've never lived anywhere different. I can tell you that after the first few days stepping over or brushing past hundreds of topless attractive women on the beach on Costa Del Sol or the South of France, you just stop thinking about it. Same for Copacabana beach in Brasil. -
What's a reasonable price for a lady drink?
BritManToo replied to TheFatOne's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
She could always work in 7-11 for 25bht/hr, but personally, I'd prefer to sit in a bar with free drinks or 100bht in my knickers. -

Up to them, can't see any harm in it myself. I have no urge to tell women what to wear or how they should behave. -

Doesn't bother me, Americans are so prudish! -

Lots of Euros go casually topless on the beach and in resorts. -
How much to set up solar for 40-50 kwh per day
BritManToo replied to kwak250's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
I only use Aircon occasionally, at the moment 1-2hrs/day as it's very hot, normally not at all. The fans all run from solar. Better to get acclimatised to the Thai weather IMHO. -
Interesting comment! No woman has ever wanted to have sex with me for enjoyment (and I honestly can't say I'm surprised by that decision). And I've always let them choose me for paid sex, so there can't be that much repulsion involved. Let me make a comparison ....... Beer isn't my first choice of alcoholic drink, but I can still drink it without vomiting, especially if someone else is paying for it. I prefer chips with my meals, but if it comes with rice, I can choke it down. Life is a series of compromises, where we live, how we earn money, the car we drive, who we bang, most of us just accept what's available, as settling for a bit less than what we actually want isn't really that big a deal for most of us.
