Gender recognition bill considered for identity self-determination
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This is a good reason to not give them an inch ........ they always want more. And if I'm out on a date, I want to have advance warning of the equipment they're potentially bringing to the party. -
Minimum required to live comfortably at a young retirement age
BritManToo replied to PomPolo's topic in General Topics
They could always use the government hospital, which is free for Thais. It's good enough for me, so it should be good enough for them! -
In my 15 years in Thailand, a Thai has only tried to murder me (using his pickup) once. 15 months after the event, 2nd court hearing next month, justice is slow for non-Thais. Petty crime non-existent though, can leave shopping on scooter or pickup bed and it's still there when you come back, leave keys in car/mc, house doors and windows unlocked all day whether home or not .........no problem.

Farage Urges Musk to Remove Terror Videos Linked to Southport Killer
BritManToo replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I have to agree with Musk. Muslim crimes in the west shouldn't be hidden, Tommy Robinson is clearly a political prisoner jailed for trying to expose Muslim crime in the UK.- 10 replies

Hanoi is great for sightseeing, also worth a train ride to Ninh Binh, Tam Coc/Trang An for the caves and lakes (2 hour rowing boat ride at either), then the cast peak Hang Mua. Not much at Da Nang apart from a nice beach. Hang Mua Trang An Hanoi

Clarity and volume good .......... but often sound/sync problems. I've found the Lenovo HE5 to be the best of the bunch, not expensive, last for years, battery gives 5-8hrs use. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/lenovo-he05-bluetooth-headphones-waterproof-bluetooth-50-hifi-in-ear-sports-i3686523200-s13927187544.html

5 years back you could find photos with shadows all over the shop, they've been disappeared, and now you can only easily find the photos you have just shown, which are explained away as parallax problems (even though those don't happen with point light sources like the sun). I find that disturbing, someone has taken the time to hide all the old problematic photos. You also get pages and pages of 'moon landing not faked' stories, and the original conspiracy sites are all gone, no matter how hard you look or what words you type in your search engine.

I don't deny anything, but do point out some very questionable facts and photos that NASA produced. And what's even more odd, if I'd typed "fake moon landing shadows" into Google 5 years back, I would have got 50 photos with dodgy shadows going in all directions. Now they've all disappeared.

Thaksin Prioritises Handouts to Boost Economy
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My mil got the 10k, no shops for 15km, a shop van calls around everyday. If it hadn't been cash, she couldn't have used it. Lots of rural poor with no access to shops. As for tobacco, she lives on a tobacco farm, could smoke as much as she wanted at no charge, but doesn't smoke. -

Free food is always available from any Temple. -
The problem being, UK police are only interested in a conviction, and don't really care if the convicted is guilty or innocent. When you co-operate with the UK police, they are only interested in getting you to incriminate yourself, therefore it's best not to co-operate in the first place. I agree, it's a sad state of affairs that there is no justice in the UK, but better not to convict yourself. My lawyers advice was always not to co-operate, and not to 'chat' with any police conducting any investigation. I left the UK on the advice of my (EU human rights) lawyer, so the police couldn't question me so easily (and frequently), it's gets old very quickly when they decide to collect you from your place of work for questioning, and don't even give you a lift back after (that's if you still have a job). I suspect the same advice was given to the husband in the OP.

DWP doesn't use Royal Mail for posting proof of life forms, as far as I know they use a reposting/forwarding service provided by a European country as it's cheaper.

Minimum level of Thai knowledge and language for long term residents
BritManToo replied to PomPolo's topic in General Topics
I've never found any benefit in speaking central Thai. And accept I'm just a long term tourist as there's no route for me to immigrate here. My family all speak English, and I have little desire to interact with other locals beyond simple commerce. Sure, in 7-11, I can tell them I don't want a plastic bag, or want my meal heated, what more language skills would I need? -
Equally you could suggest she ran off with another man whom later killed her. Or she was abducted while hitchhiking by a serial killer. Or ran off then went for a walk, fell or got lost then died from exposure. My point being, inaction from the husband is not evidence he murdered her. It's up to the police to provide evidence of what happened. He is under no legal obligation to say anything, or even talk to the police. And if I were him I wouldn't talk to the police at all.

Combined car+motorcycle Thai driver's license not possible?
BritManToo replied to farrol's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Separate licences, cost between 1kbht and 1k5bht for both. No translations required, just UK licence, passport, medical certificate (any hospital 100-200bht) and proof of address from immigration. No need for an agent, just turn up at any licence centre, and they'll give you an appointment or do it on the spot if not busy. Takes all morning, mostly sitting watching a video.- 41 replies
