    Australia for one.

Any  relationship without marriage after 2 years is considered a de facto which means partner rights in regard to assets etc

not sure about the UK ? Or the USA ?

Same in UK and most US states.

I think the trick is to make sure they always have their own home, so they can't claim yours.

But then, what women is gonna accept a man that doesn't buy (rent?) them a house.

The world's sea levels are rising at a rate of 30cm per century and that is currently under review with a suspected huge acceleration suspected due to faster than expected glacial melting.

I lived in a house on Brighton beach, in 1956.

The house is still there and the waterline is still in the same place 64 years later.

Same for my pal's house on Shoreham beach, zero detectable change in sea level.

You might be able to push an argument for 1-2cm sea level change in 100 years, but 30cm is just BS.

Anyway if you really cared about the environment you wouldn't be building houses, or flying back and forth to Thailand. If climate change was real, the first preventative step should be to ban all recreational flights.

If a full solar energy package can be installed for 100,000 or even 200,000 then I'd say its about time Thailand made it compulsory for all new builds. I would also guess the cost would probably be much lower when applied commercially.

Finding the money to retro fit a system would be difficult for a lot of Thai people - given the average salary but if its included in the price of a house, I doubt the mortgage payments would be drastically higher.

    1 330w panel (3,700) + 1 600w GTI (2,700) =6,400bht ..... plus 25 x 50 x 6000 box steel for the frame 350bht and a few bolts and screws, total 7,000bht. (a second panel would add another 4,000bht)

As Crossy said earlier, a number of micro inverters distributed around might be a better idea.

You can add as you want, and failure of the GTI isn't going to be such an expense.

My little experiment with solar here.

The man later twice borrowed money from him at Bt2,000 per shot, saying he was waiting for a credit card from a friend.

Don't lend money, it's hardly ever returned, BBQ vendor should know that by now.

I'm good for 100bht for someone who seems really desperate, no need to pay it back.

Guessing BBQ vendor will be inundated with requests for loans now.

I'm so happy I married a wife whose family is wealthy. I have no such issues.

My other advice would be to sit down with the wife regularly for family financial planning.

Show her the incomings and outgoings especially things like retirement savings and other investments like medium range/liquid investments.

Many Thais don't understand financial planning. Actually, for fairness, most westerners don't either. Understanding this may help her appreciate sacrifices being made.

Very foolish, your wife will know all your finances when she divorces you.

They both worked full time, and my dad was making more than my mom so he typically paid for the bigger things while she paid for the smaller things.

Women are generally lazy, less motivated to work and earn money than men.

Why should his greater disposable income due to his harder work ethic be used to make up for her shortcomings?

    Sorry it's 50/50 or it doesn't work.

And I've never found any women that even contributes 20 to his 80.

"She pays for the smaller things"

Yeah, same here, my gf brings home Grapow moo for me once a month, I pay for the house, utils and all the family food.

That makes us an equal partnership too.

bet you made changes to what you ate too not just added exercise.

Tried dieting, and it worked, but it also made me so unhappy I wanted to die.

Now I eat what I want, and exercise it off.

If pills help  then take them, unfortunately the ones that do work are dangerous and without controlling food intake they still wont work.

Diet is king exercise is nice but you don't burn that much. But it helps retain muscle and is great. I do cardio and strength training. There are supplements that help.. but is nothing magical and will just give a slight edge.

If I cycle 25km/day five days a week, I lose weight.

If I hike 1Km elevation gain 3 days a week, I lose weight.

    No need to diet.

but surely at some point Thailand will move on to digital meters - I doubt they will run backwards. If that's the case, assumimg they do change to digital, what's likely to happen? Blow the meter?

Quite a lot of 'old style' meters have a clutch inside.

The wheel can turn backwards, but the counter doesn't.

Other electronic meters don't count back either, but are happy to accept your electricity free.

Some digital meters in the USA count forwards no matter what direction the current is flowing.

You can buy GTIs that have a current detector for the incoming mains that won't feed back no matter what.

Some I know find themselves in the usually conundrum.

Married for many years, kids, mortgaged up to their eyeballs, miserable as sin but “got too much to lose”   Laughable.

    That was me too.

But in the end she decided to take the house, kids and savings and bang the gardener anyway.

I missed the kids for a while, but then I made another son and took in an abandoned daughter.

Both my Thai kids are much nicer than the Brit kids ever were, so I recon I came out on top, even though I have less money.
