"These cases were concentrated only in some areas and did not spread extensively as feared."

    However on Monday they reported.

"BANGKOK: -- PUBLIC health authorities have stepped up surveillance on the spread of the Zika virus after two pregnant women in Bangkok were found to have been infected."

    Zika virus

Please be rest-assured there will be absolutely no problem if you fully understand, that these Farang mosquito's would need a work permit same as the rest of us :coffee1:

    Bloody bastards!

    Totally agree

These terrorists are upping the anti  and successfully at that. Strangely enough as it seems find myself defending Thailand back home in the UK whenever people refer to tourists being harmed albeit by bombs or attacks by locals. To me I pray things get better. Otherwise this great country will get too much bad press that even TAT predictions can't overcome.

The minister clearly uses a different definition of "outbreak" than the WHO :-

"A disease outbreak is the occurrence of cases of disease in excess of what would normally be expected in a defined community, geographical area or season. An outbreak may occur in a restricted geographical area, or may extend over several countries. It may last for a few days or weeks, or for several years.

A single case of a communicable disease long absent from a population, or caused by an agent (e.g. bacterium or virus) not previously recognized in that community or area, or the emergence of a previously unknown disease, may also constitute an outbreak and should be reported and investigated."

    Denial
Thais mindset isn't a terribly logical or even a consistent place. Most, given the choice to face a hideous or terrifying truth would rather  conveniently avoid it, choosing more  or less the convenience route.
This doesn't make them strong, weak good or bad people. It just makes them Thai people.
    Just saying ...,.

    Bull.

This is no different than goes rock climbing or swimming out to a distant buoy off the beach or racing s motorcycle. These are things that guys do who are physically fit. Like zi said, its a way of celebrating life, stregth & vitality.

I guess a guy either knows what this feels like or he doesn't. Not everyone was athletic...its just some of us were. He was a risktaker. It was his life to live and I doubt very much he could care what a middle aged fat guy in a cape thought of it.

    Balcony supremo

It's the desire to swim in deeper waters is what gives us a greater experience. Nothing new comes out of being ordinary. Leaders take risks. :coffee1:

At the last school I worked in,   a vocational one,   I warned two students they would be thrown out on an exam if they kept on talking.

They complained to the school authorities and I was told not to be so strict,   it wasn't necessary as they weren't talking about the exam   !

I asked the lady who was warning me how she knew what they were talking abut and her reply was she had asked them and they assured her it was nothing to do with the exam and she believed them so I was in the wrong.

Examples like this are ten a penny as schools etc protect the no fail policy while insisting cheating doesn't happen or is no big deal.

    Exams

When students cheat on exams it's because  the outer Thai school system values grades more than its students value of learning. :clap2:

    Telling tales

Maybe it's me but anything of little consequence, no weight, worthless, no importance; or not worthy of serious notice is considered a tragedy in Thailand that deserves a trip to a cop shop where some little grass decides to get some unfortunate the jail.

When I was younger a clype (informer) was a no-no and a good belt across the ear was duly administered for good measure by any superior explainging to that ........
