Wow. So swift. Very obviously this Sub Lt Thanom Haesathit of the Phang Nga Muang District Police isn't very well connected or doesn't come from a well-heeled-and-connected family.
Different story if he had been driving a Ferrari, wonder when that "other" incident will receive justice.?

Seems fair enough to me, if you dont go to work why should you get paid, always the principle I have had to work by.

So it appears for more than 10 years has had the same demeaning attitude to women, call them dogs, condemn them over their appearance, their weight, etc. Trump, many of them are a lot smarter than you are, or do you only measure them by their appearance.

At last some sensibility to ease the congestion at toll gates. The next stage of course could be the overhead toll reading system used in many other countries where you go thru at normal driving speed. WAIT! what the hell am I saying this is Thailand with Thai drivers!

Wish they would also clear Soi 4 Sukhumvit so that cars can pass in the evenings. Vendors clog footpaths forcing people to walk on the roadway, double parking by motorbike further add to the pedestrian danger
-
Lack of planning clearly shows when we have the "easypass" system and the "M pass" system. Both systems speed up passage through tollgates but it's most inconvenient to have to have both in the car so I suspect most, like me only, have one. A single system would mean totally, more people using the faster cashless passage through tollgates.

Does this mean we do not have to pay the "other services" charge added to the bill at major hospitals?
I've already tried getting details of this charge with no success.

The rice pledging scheme was vote buying in disguise, it cannot be compared to the Blair/Bush actions. Additionally she (Yinglak) was warned officially of corruption and huge losses several times, she took no action.
How do you propose to cleanup Thai politics unless people are made responsible for their actions after several warnings.

Bangkok hospitals also add an additional charge B300, when asked "its for service" but they cannot tell you what "service" this is.

True, and for those who admire the progress that Singapore has made via semi-democratic process (to which USA has been notably silent) and now see PM Prayut using his 44 power to bring wrong doers to justice well done. And, by the method that sends the most effective message " we will take your money back". House cleaning as stated at outset now taking place. Cheers.

Stupid comment not worthy of posting

You mean Putin did not take over Crimea by armed force? Is this the person that Trump thinks he can beat with smart talk. Putin KGB to the core and Trump, a babe in the woods re international politics. But he claims to know more that the US Generals. Good luck with that one. Am not a US citizen but please you guys don't let this idiot loose on the world scene.

Sorry for the deaths, should not have happened if the white van had turned left and gone down to a legal "U" turn. Turning right as the van did over double lines is illegal. Cant see from the video if there is a "turn left only" sign if not there should be.

And I guess you also believe here there are also tooth fairy's, and Easter bunnies and father Christmas and that no one should question the state of affairs and suggest improvements. Yes many of us love this country but we don't burry our heads in the sand. Amongst the highest road death rate in the world, a police force that desperately need an overhaul, and restructure so that power is not used for self enrichment. And if you are "at a loss to understand" try thinking and then commenting critically and constructively on specific critical events

Cant understand how a motorbike can impact a vehicle doing a "U" turn at the front of the vehicle. unless of course the motorbike was travelling against the correct flow of traffic.
...a vehicle making a u-turn would more likely be the one 'coming out of nowhere....
...looks like he plowed into the motorcycle full on...
...and the 'honked the horn' sounds like an embellishment...

If all the officers did this....might even save quite a few lives.
The mind set of the Thai people needs to be changed from....Cops want money....to I better not break the law.
This cop needs our admiration and hopefully some Thai organizations will see fit to reward him. Yes I know this is his job but, look at it from his perspective could he expect total support from his superiours if the woman in question was Hi.So?. But the way she acted was like some one with the lowest level of social skills.

Must be getting close to the time for the BIB to pay themselves the reward

As a Brit I have to admit that some Brits behave appallingly while on holiday and there's no excuse, however I take issue with the cowardly way that one of the bouncers kicks the downed man in the head. That's inexcusable and needs to be seen to be believed. This video should be essential viewing for anyone coming to Thailand, especially Brits who aren't prepared for what they might encounter. To put it in context, if this was in the UK, kicking someone in the head while they are down is an act that could be charged as attempted murder, it's sickening to watch. This is Thailand, as the saying goes, so I assume there's no law against it.
Welcome to the land of smiles !!

Great article Jonathan
Basically, the main agenda in Thailand is to downtrod any terrorist attacks to be kept at bare minimum. Thus, save any discord affecting tourism. Can't really give tourists a sandbag each at the airports. It's disgraceful but that's the way it is here.
Just saying ...
Sorry but as usual Mr Head's left wing report is superficial and light weight. Where is your own analysis Richard, ? Where is your own research? As usual Thai bashing from the comfort of your hotel room. Pleas don't waste our time.

Just imagine the situation where the BIB and military actually identify the bombers, the real ones, and they prove to be not what's wanted for the junta's purposes.
Decisions, decisions !
And what if it is supported for their purposes and what many others suspect?

So if you have 2 mobile phones will you be lucky enough to get two of the "special" SIM'S. Strap one to the dog and one to the cat, always wondered where they wandered too. May be a way to find lost pets, now that could be useful.

Some may not like it but preventing the political parties from telling their supporters how to vote at least put responsibility on voters to read the constitution sent to them and think for themselves. The low turnout indicates many did not accept that responsibility.

What has happened to humanity when heinous events like this occur. A sickening event.

Careful ! friend of mine in Indonesia, upset at 4am loudspeakers from opposite Mosque walked over and pulled the power lead, ended up in jail.

Of course everyone is allowed their own political opinion, but as a non American who obviously would be affected one way or another if this Trump idiot were elected my hope is with those who use their vote wisely.
