  1. How about the buffalo? Is that OK?
  2. Not always - they sound like babies crying when 2 males cross each others path, or a female is in heat!
  3. I've been here for 20 years, but admittedly, do not travel much! I was surprised however to see a dog and cats roaming the corridors of our local Government Hospital! The type of dogs you refer to are what used to be referred to as "lap dogs" as they were mostly kept by ladies for their "pleasure" - mollycoddled yappy little rat like creatures that can hardly be called "dogs". The ones I am talking about are the larger dogs that are allowed to run around freely at night, forming gangs and alliances and fighting for territory etc - soi dogs do the same but these dogs supposedly have "owners".
  4. "According to the video, as tensions rose, the group of ladyboys engaged in physical assaults against the tourist, knocking him to the ground." Mob handed as usual - cowards!
  5. Have to agree! In the West the dog is treated as one of the family, and in many cases, have their own "bed" in the house. How many Thais do you know allow their "pets"/ dogs to sleep in the house? Mostly they are put outside and left free to wander, bark, howl or get into fights over territory with other dogs that have been forced to live outside. I am originally from the UK, and we had a Labrador that due to us both working, had to leave all day in our sizeable back garden, but it was tended to and cared for at lunchtimes by a relative. Unbeknown to us, as soon as we left the house it started barking. Rather than bring it to our attention our friendly neighbours reported it to the police, and the consequent visit by them left us in no doubt that our dog was disturbing the peace and we had to get something done about it, or the dog would be impounded! The solution was simple - we got another dog so they kept each other company and the barking ceased. It may be worth noting that in the UK you never hear dogs barking at night (for any length of time) or the owners will be told to do something about it, or their dog(s) taken from them
  6. I used to be a dog lover, but 5 years of living over a stream from a Thai lady with 5 dogs, one of which barks and howls constantly at all hours of the night for no apparent reason other than it can changed my mind. And yes , it is probably the owner that is to blame for not keeping her dogs under control, but she has a shop of sorts adjacent to the "space/yard" where the dogs are confined (I don't think she actually lives there) and says they are "guard dogs"!!! I don't like barking dogs any more, especially when they constantly disturb my sleep !!!
  7. I've lived in Samui for nearly 20 years, and have never seen behaviour such as this - in actual fact I have never seen a fight! Sure, they do happen, but I've never seen one and I do frequent the bars. Maybe I'm just lucky, I guess. However, I have seen - this year in particular, an increase in irresponsible behaviour on the roads from tourists on motor bikes, and quite a few accidents (some serious) And the number of people riding bikes without helmets is increasing - the police used to do "helmet checks" but I've not seen one for the last couple of years - maybe because I'm not on the roads so much these days, but the number of bare chested farangs flying about the place on "big bikes" is certainly becoming a problem. Maybe the police should be doing more? 🤣
  8. "This is not so worse than the lying Prawit about his millions THB worth watches" Not even in the same class! Perhaps he could say that he borrowed the vaping machine from a friend who is now dead so he can't give it back ?
  9. Several of Townshend's essays have been posted online, including "Meher Baba—The Silent Master: My Own Silence" in 2001, and "A Different Bomb", an indictment of the child pornography industry, the following year." And:- " Townshend – who is the founder of sexual abuse charity Double O – said he paid a £7 charge to a child pornography site, which he cancelled straight away, to expose the financial chain of child abuse from Russian orphanages. When police discovered the files, he was cautioned and placed on the sex offenders register for five years after he admitted to breaking the law." It would seem that as he has written books on the subject, formed a charity which seems to do nothing but good, (Check it on Google) that at worst, he made a stupid decision, but is not in the same league as the guy who is the subject of this case.
  10. I was going to say "Well done" to the Thai police for catching this scumbag. Actually, yes, well done, but as you read into the story it came about not because of the hard work by the RTP, but because of a tip off from an American agency.
  11. "The individuals, each from a different nationality - German, British, French, and Dutch - were fined under charges of causing a public nuisance." How much were the fines? 500 baht? Oh hang on, they're farangs - better make it 5000 baht!
  12. The "guy" with his face "pixellated" out must be the "....Russian man allegedly posing as a "mafia" figure on Koh Pha Ngan,......" Having said that, he/she doesn't look particularly menacing!!!
  13. So Russia are going to provide Ukraine with weapons?
  14. "Longer opening hours don't necessarily mean longer or more drinking!" Completely agree! I posted on here a while ago that when they increased the drinking hours in Scotland the naysayers expected the level of drunkenness to go up, whereas it actually went down! The reasons given were that people only have a certain amount of cash to spend on alcohol, and by extending the drinking hours, drinkers were consuming the same amount of alcohol, but stretching it out for longer, so drinking slower = less drunk!
  15. I know what I saw, but it's not worth arguing about, because the next thing is that you'll be asking me for a "link" and if you think I am going to trawl back through 15+ years of ThaiVisa posts - think again!!
  16. It was quoted on here quite a long time ago (I've been here for more than 20 years)
  17. But...but......but I thought that the authorities/police said that there was no prostitution in Thailand?
  18. Victims have contacted police, but officers claim they cannot act as these incidents are not classified as flagrant offenses. WHAT?
  19. I think you mean "the stupid daytime law of NOT buying alcohol in the supermarkets."! 🙂
  20. I think Zelensky mentioned that they have broken ceasefires 25 times in this war.
  21. The plans for which I presume are now "on hold"?
  22. The reason being that many people do not like the idea of a "Superpower" illegally snatching another countries land! And that also means Americans stealing the land of the indigenous peoples, and the British Empire doing the same, (but they are trying to make amends for some of the wrongs - I don't see America doing much for the Indian tribes)
  23. The photo says a lot - I wonder how many people fall off their motorbikes due to getting a bowlful of iced water (sometimes laced with detergent which can temporarily "blind" you) thrown forcefully into their faces by "fun loving" revellers?
