  1. I NEVER believe any figures rom TAT! They are usually shrouded in "hope for", "wish for", "expects" etc etc etc.
  2. Will the cost of these "Amazing Thailand" SIM cards be paid for by the 300 baht tourist tax, or is that all earmarked for paying the hospital bills of "absconders"?
  3. Lots of TT posters on here think that that is behaving badly!
  4. Haven't seen any reports of Swedes misbehaving in the last few days? And why should it matter whether your Thai missus agrees with you or not?
  5. Didn't want to make more of them cancel their holidays here!
  6. Obviously he has upset an even bigger bigwig - maybe bought his job on an instalment/brown bag system and stopped paying?
  7. One or two have already anticipated this excuse - please try to keep up!
  8. Today an American behaving badly, yesterday it was an Israeli, a Dane and an Indian making the news for being naughty,- c'mon Brits where are ya?
  9. "...................during transit, the Russian tourists suddenly became agitated for unknown reasons. They vehemently signaled the team to pull over, shouting and pounding on the ambulance door." Maybe found out that they were being taken to a Private Hospital, and would get charged horrendous prices for medical treatment!
  10. I am from the UK, and recently had a "dispute" with RBS about my tax affairs, as they wanted my Thai Tax Code Number. I am retired in Thailand, married to a Thai, do not work in Thailand, do not own any property in Thailand, and consequently do not have a Thai Tax Code Number. I pay tax on part of my company pension in the UK as combining my State Pension and Company pension takes me over the Personal Allowances limit. I finally got an apology from them for "harassment", but do these latest proposals from the Thai Government mean that I will have to pay tax on money that has already been taxed?
  11. State pensions maybe exempt, but private, company, disability can be taxed at 25% State pensions should be taxed at the countries tax rate, which in Thailand is 5% of any income over 150,000 per year. I am confused - first of all you say 'State Pensions should be exempt', then you say "State Pensions should be taxed at the countries tax rate,.............."?????????
  12. "Approx. 90% of the Expats in Thailand are losers, hippies, child molesters, LGBTQ or whatsoever." Link? Proof? Or just your biased opinion?
  13. Isn't it nice that all the latest negative news regarding farangs seems to not include "Brits Behaving Badly"? We have Israelis causing chaos, Danish men possessing illegal firearms, and even Indian men on 3168 days overstay - and that's just today's news! The reason? The kids in the UK are back at school again?!!! ????
  14. Why don't you say "Where he came from" instead of trying to use posh words that you can't spell?
  15. "Upon inquiring about the man, hotel staff revealed that he had been involved in previous disturbances there." So, all this started before the latest conflicts in his home country? The current situation may have aggravated him, but it seems that his problems were there already, and to blame it on "cannabis" is an easy way out for him. It seems to be becoming a "keep out of jail" card for many, and I have seen reports of too many judges/magistrates in my home country being taken in by this excuse for unacceptable behaviour of all kinds:- "It wasn't my fault, your honour, I was on drugs at the time". It seems that the anti cannabis campaigners can quote the drug as another instance where it causes anti-social behaviour, when in actual fact, the problem started long before. Additionally, if he has been involved in previous disturbances at the hotel where he is staying, then why let him stay there? "Money, money money"? To recap, this guy probably had problems when he arrived here, and the latest news from his home country "tipped him over the edge", and he has now decided to blame it (understandably) on stress, But fire in the "fuelled by the use of Cannabis" angle and the "That's all right then" genie jumps out of the bottle, and everything is A OK?
  16. "The US has to stick its awe into everything in the world" Nice! Reminds me of a story about John Wayne playing the part of a centurion in a film about the Crucifixion. His line was "Surely this was the Son of God", and the director said, "John can you not say it with more AWE?" And on the next take John said "AW, surely this was the Son of God"! ????
  17. "Could be worse. Lots of American women will berate you and tell you they can get their own frickin' door." 6 of one and half a dozen of the other!
  18. "Also, if I may remind some here, different cultures have different levels of what they consider "friendly". Yes - for instance, a scowl from a Russian after you hold the door open for him and his family is just a different way of saying "Thank you"?
  19. I gave the laughing emoticon because I like the word "grapple"! The word "turmoil" is also OK! Both of which seem to go hand in hand with TAT!
  20. Using a two year old photograph, and implying that it was taken "yesterday" suggests using false information to get your point across by fair means or foul - "witch hunt"!
  21. Next move will be to form a committee to discuss ways of reducing the waiting time at said queues!
