  1. Read the post PROPERLY, and think about what it says! (The words "short of" should give you a clue!)
  2. It says quite clearly in the post:- ".....all foreign tourists arriving in Thailand during the New Year holiday period." Now how long does the "New Year holiday period" last for? And as you point out, the Government will not pay for it for ever - just a scheme to boost figures during the "High Season", so TAT can be justified, and they can use those figures for months to come! And I wonder if the scheme will include pre existing conditions for all the elderly travellers? At 78 years old, I can't even GET insurance covering pre existing conditions - or even without them !!!
  3. Yes, I see nothing in the article that says they all shared the same room?
  4. From today's AseanNow:- "Local police in Krabi confirm a national crackdown on overstaying tourists is underway..... Immigration police have launched another national crackdown targeting visa overstayers........" From AseanNow dtd Friday 7 July 2023:- "Thai Senior Immigration Officer Vows to Purge the Country of All Overstayers Within Three Months By Tanakorn Panyadee - Friday, 7 July 2023, 14:16" I suppose the excuse will be "That was under the old Government - nothing to do with us"!
  5. Same as when Covid hit the UK and all those lucky people got paid to sit at home on their bums instead of working - I believe it was called "furlough" and I (and no doubt many others) said at the time "Somebody's gonna have to pay!": "11.7 million employee jobs were furloughed through the scheme, at a cost of £70 billion.Dec 23, 2564 BE" Now where did the money for that come from? A hint - look at the current prices of EVERYTHING in the UK now!
  6. "Cutting diesel prices by 2.50 baht per litre" Great - easy to understand if you own a vehicle that runs on diesel! "Revamping petrol prices" Not so easy to understand - what does "revamping" mean if you have a vehicle that runs on petrol?
  7. And here was stupid me thinking from the photo that they were going to scrap the stupid "no alcohol to be sold between 2pm and 5pm" law, so that Xmas /New Year tourists (and all other customers!) could purchase booze with their groceries at any time!
  8. Can't be bothered to scroll through all the replies but "Another Quality Tourist"? OK - I'll get my coat!
  9. "......undergo a basic training course like soldiers." Now that would be a sight to behold which ain't gonna happen - Thaksin running round a parade ground with a rucksack on his back!!!
  10. So he didn't get a fair sized fare or a tip - who's the loser?
  11. Why do Ladyboys, Indians and Gold, and sausage, egg and chips always seem to go together so well?
  12. "Any older person that wants to stick his w!llie in a minor should be locked up." Agreed, and one has to abide by the laws of the country you are in, but come on - 17 years old? Any 17 year old girl can look 10 years older with a bit of make up, and I am guessing that she didn't tell him she was only 17! "Also men here that think they can have a normal relation with a girl thats 35 years younger..........what a joke. Get youself examined." Plenty of them here, mate - myself included (but in my case only 25 years difference between me and my Thai wife who I have been with for 16 years) I suspect the examination rooms would have waiting lists akin to the NHS in the UK!
  13. ".......the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict at large who has been staying at the hospital for nearly four months now without schedule for dispatchment and return to Bangkok Remand Prison." It was ever meant to be thus! Did anybody actually think that Thaksin was going to return to Thailand and go straight to jail to serve out an 8 year sentence? The man himself said that he wanted to return to Thailand to spend time with his grandchildren, and you can bet your "bottom dollar" he didn't intend to do that inside a prison!!!
  14. "...........she wanted the suspect, who allegedly made a mess in front of her store, to be aware of his actions." I think that the "suspect" (I could think of a better, unprintable word than that!) is well aware of his actions, and hopefully when/if caught will be made well aware of the consequences of such a disgusting act. Having a prostate problem can sometimes cause the urgent need to relieve oneself, (when you gotta go -you gotta go!) but in full view without the slightest attempt to conceal oneself? And defecating? That is absolutely disgusting behaviour.
  15. It's not about the workers performance, it's about the tourist dollars! Now how about that ridiculous "cannot buy alcohol between the hours of 2 pm and 5 pm" in supermarkets, but it would seem is widely available everywhere else?
  16. I would have thought that the test is a bit more sophisticated than "On drugs" or "Not on drugs"!
  17. He's wanting his picture in the papers again - and again - and again!
  18. Have to agree with your final paragraph. I come from a small city in England, and it has slowly deteriorated over the years as far as public order is concerned. One street in particular which used to be a very popular shopping area is now completely full of pubs/bars, night clubs, and takeaways. The other disturbing thing is that on a weekend - from 6pm on a Friday night - barriers are erected at each end, and it is closed to traffic, including buses and taxis. This area has become a type of "Dodge City", which is notorious for violence and troublemakers, and I doubt if there is one weekend that goes by without a spate of "anti social behaviour" On the other hand, I have lived in Thailand in one of the tourist resorts fot nearly twenty years and have literally never seen a fight! I am not saying that they don't happen, (I did see two Thais facing off at each other over a minor traffic dispute , but it was resolved after a lot of posturing and intervention by the local taxi drivers!!! ) but I frequent bars and restaurants regularly, so I am not deliberately keeping out of harm's way. so I guess I am fortunate, but I certainly feel safer here than my old hometown in England! . .
  19. Yes, I would imagine that the video in question might even enhance Pattaya's reputation in some quarters!
  20. Especially the experts at it - lady boys - katoeys - transgenders - call them what you will! Probably the first thing they learn to do after learning how to apply make up and walk in high heels!
  21. Yawn! Copy and paste! When will these wealthy Indian tourists realise that it is not a good idea to flaunt your wealth and gold trinkets in Pattaya?
  22. "Samut Prakan — A brawl involving more than 10 Thai youth broke out at an entertainment venue in the Paknam sub-district, Samut Prakan province, on Saturday night, December 2nd, resulting in injuries to 9 people." | "In the early morning of December 3, 2023, a violent clash unfolded at a nightclub in Praksa, Samut Prakan, involving over 10 tourists seated at two tables. Prior to the altercation spilling onto the streets, multiple people sustained injuries." 10 Thai youth or 10 tourists? One on one? Nah - wouldn't happen! Confused? I know I am!
  23. Where did you read that? From the article:- "In the early morning of December 3, 2023, a violent clash unfolded at a nightclub in Praksa, Samut Prakan......"
  24. So the statement is meant to clarify the alleged 1 million baht bribe? I can't see anything ?
