  1. Hi thanks, lost the thread. I really wanted to hear from someone who had installed the garden lights or had a light chaser. I'm remembering now when I built the light/sound thinggy. Must be some circuits around somewhere. Going to Patts next month so will check with my cousin who's into flashing (lights) and things. He plays and sings in some interesting places. ????
  2. OR red ants. Or vibrator motor failure (VMF). ????
  3. I keyboarded 'can' as most people won't test monthly or regularly. 'Should' is still as vague as 'can', maybe you meant "must". ????
  4. I'll give it a go. If you look above that big red switch to the right it says RCBO. RCBO means: Residual Current Circuit Breaker Overload. If you look to the right of that big red switch there is a small circuit diagram with 1 and 3 marked. These are the input 220 volt leads thru the RCBO to your house. The electrical current in 1 and 3 should be the same but if they aren't then the RCBO will turn your power off. Just say that somehow you touched a live 220 volt point; maybe getting toast out of a toaster with a knife, the electrical current on 1 and 3 will be different and the RCBO will turn off the power quickly so you won't die from an electric shock. Because the RCBO is an electro-mechanical device it can fail and you wouldn't know that your house is not protected, so you can test it monthly to make sure it's working. ????
  5. 1. Would like to build and install some garden lights that highlight the Cane Palms and other shrubs and trees. Really just a string along one border. Anyone have them and have a recommendation? 2. Also thinking of a garden lights extension where different lights connected to a sound system turn on and off with different frequencies. I built one up years ago in first year Engineering College that was red, blue and green. I can't remember what it's called. Anyone have these and a recommendation? Thanks.
  6. After changing phones I tried to use the bangkok bank app. I usually just input my PIn number but couldn't use it.
  7. I used the Samsung switch phone app to my new Samsung but after all worked except Bangkok Bank app. Had to visit a branck to fix it.
  8. เดินทีละ Think this means take 1 step and the last word translates to 'pace' so I think it could mean 'step by step'. But as I'm not a native Thai speaker I could be completely wrong. ????
  9. 5G is the generation of phones. There was 3G, 4G and now 5G. Each new generation of phone has technology upgrades. So if you want the latest and probably the best communication device you would go for a 5G phone. There is also internet connecting frequencies to a WiFi router of 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. Loosely referred to as 5G. But 5G specification is not the same as 5 GHz ( GHz is Gigga Hertz and Hertz is the old cycles per second and is the frequency of signal proporgation). So 5G phone will probably be able to receive both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals. (Frequencies attenuate at different levels, so having 2 frequencies makes for better reception). If your internet provider is only 4G and your phone is 5G then it will work on a 4G network, but not have all the bells and whistles of a 5G network. Better to have a 5G phone and use a 5G network.
  10. Yes I remember morely. Had then in Aus to. My cat's whisker didn't work. Could have been something to do with the metal box. Re-thinking about light switches inside my DIN box and bad idea. Wouldn't want fingers wandering around inside this box looking for a light switch. It will be safer with the relay cover, terminal strip cover and Intelligent Pump box cover installed. But ....
  11. Yes I did see some advertised on RS. Will keep it in mind. Thanks.
  12. They are controlled by MCB now, but the electrician did a horrible job and they are outside driveway metal lights with no earth wire. Just thinking of changing it now with the new waterproof box for my pump control box. More thinking required.
  13. Anyone use these for on/off light switches? Don't seem very popular, even though they have DIN 3 pin power outlets now. I'm building up an outside pump box and thought I'd include some DIN mounted on/off switches for lights that are now only controlled by circuit breakers (first electrician's work). I see Amazon says they have some but 'not in stock'. Maybe the toggle switches are not suitable for DIN mounting and 'push button' types would be better?
  14. The time that I built QCon blocks were not in my area so we built double brick cavity (those small red brick) walls with air gap between. If I was to build now I would use QCon 7.5 blocks cavity walls. You can really feel the difference with a cavity wall. Put your hand on the outside wall (before all the trees grew) and too hot to touch in full sunlight, but the inside wall was easy to touch. I used the 12.5 QCon blocks for the garage build later (mainly because I wanted to cut all the conduit into the walls and thought 7.5 too thin). 7.5 are just fine. You must lay the QCon as per the instructions, not what the bricklayer thinks, and you will have minimal problems. Insects between the cavity hasn't been a problem. Also with a cavity you can install all the conduits, water pipes and data cables in the cavity. Hot air will rise thru the conduit above the bond beam and air flow from the eves through the ceiling will help dissipate the hot air. Do install data cables, better than wifi. Wifi signals suffer from attenuation and signal fading. Insulation is a major problem, needs great thought as with heat you put up barriers and hopefully when all these barriers eventually fail it is then the afternoon. So for a roof, metal seems to be the go now, but I used the large Monnier concrete tiles that absorbe the heat (1st barrier), R15 or the best insulation resistance foil (2nd barrier), ceiling insulation (3rd barrier), air flow thru ceiling (4th barrier). I didn't use ceiling insulation as I had a small ceiling with a cathedral roof, but the more heat barriers the better. I'd say double glazed windows as well. I didn't use them but my son's place has them and they're magic for sound as well as heat I would think. Also plan for solar. Maybe a fireproof room for the inverter and batteries and sun tracking panels. Some inverter fans ar noisy so plan accordingly.
  15. I just remembered 1 bar = 10m lift height, so to my tank about 0.5 bar of low pressure water. So my meter will hardly move. I need a meter with 100% deflection of 1 bar, but I'm not fussed.
  16. Yes you could be right, but with my UPS I just looked up the service manual and it told me how to open the case and change the battery. ????
  17. Bit off topic, but take it to TukCom (if it still exists) and one of the electronic shops there will put in a new battery for you. Or order one. I don't think you need to send it back to Bangkok.
  18. When I looked at the pump curve at about 40 m the flow rate was 20 LPM , so that was what I was looking at. Because I don't know that much about water I equated 20 LPM to a reasonable pressure, or a reading on my pressure meter, but now thinking about it, and comparing the pressure from the submersible to the pressure from the house pump, I notice the difference. Anyway, problem solved and 20 LPM is fine at about 40m.
  19. It's the meter not showing pressure. I think Robin has the answer in that the pressure is low.
  20. Thank you. It would seem the pressure is about 2 psi then. It's definitely not exactly blasting out, but hopefully enough to get up to the tank and fill it. Thanks again.
  21. My 0.5 HP submersible is pumping fine, but I can't see a pressure meter reading on my guage. It doesn't move of zero. I think I read the pressure should be about 20 psi. I know there is water pressure there because I installed a 3 m pipe vertically and the water flow out the end was fine (to eventually connect to fill out tank). I know I'm missing something basic but I can't see it. Sorry pics stuffed up.
  22. I have a non-DIN rail component plastic box that I want to mount on a DIN rail. So I'm looking for the female type connectors to mount on my electronic plastic box to fit to the male DIN rail. I see these on LAZADA but not sure they are correct for what I want. Just don't look right. Anyone experienced with these or component DIN rail connectors?
  23. So we don't have the same problem England, Europe and the USA have. Also to stop all these boat people dying at sea. We're not silly you know. ????
  24. We had a knife switch like that on one of the buildings in the compound. BIL's eldest son was washing his car near the switch and put his hand in the switch. Goodbye.
