  1. If anyone is interested in reading the full WSJ story, can use https://archive.ph/ to “unlock” any link/article etc. that is blocked for subscribers only.
  2. New MIT? Haven’t been down that Soi in quite some time - what’s going on there? Still slated for development on the lower half, or did that fall through? ????
  3. Have used Cherry many times and as recently as last week. Reliable, fair, honest, easy to communicate with, available last minute if needed (e.g. emergency) - and has the best rates as far as I can tell. Can’t go wrong with Cherry.
  4. Bangkok Bank near Treetown - long queue, but quick once in front of the rep. Would go to a bigger branch if had to do again though.
  5. “I referred him to the Premium Clinic at the Queen Sirikit Hospital, Khon Kaen, the superior cardiac clinic, both in management and cost, in this country.” https://thepattayanews.com/2023/04/25/guest-article-medical-bytes-thailand-no-86-fast-to-furious/
  6. I would guess that a majority use either Maneerat or CAMBODIA INTER TOUR & TRAVEL 086 338 8414 https://maps.app.goo.gl/yZxe1oSAyA8MLnUWA?g_st=ic I use Cambodia for annual O-A extensions and they handle everything quickly and without issue, but either would work.

  8. How was the blue cheese strain? If good, can post a link to the seller (or dm)? Thanks in advance.
  9. Tehran - can’t say enough good things about this fantastic series. The music in particular was so well done - kind of an odd thing to point out, I admit, but very memorable and contributes to the drama and intrigue perfectly. Fingers crossed for a season 3…
  10. There is a precedent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Bangkok_bombings “The 2012 Bangkok bombings were a series of explosions that occurred in Bangkok, Thailand on 14 February 2012, injuring five people. Thai authorities said that the bombings were a botched attempt by Iranian nationals to assassinate Israeli diplomats.[1] Several Iranians were arrested and charged for the attacks, one of whom was badly injured.” “The first blast happened at about 14:00 at a safe house on Sukhumvit 71, which the suspects had rented. The explosion blew off part of the roof of the structure. The men then fled the house. Moradi, who was injured and bloodied, attempted to flag down a taxi. When the driver, seeing his state, refused to take him, he threw a grenade at the taxi. The grenade damaged the vehicle and injured the driver. Police officers who responded to the blasts then tried to stop Moradi, who tried to escape by throwing another grenade at them. The grenade bounced off a tree and back at him, exploding and severing both his legs.[4]” Although maybe there isn’t too much to worry about ????????
  11. ???????????????? “Thailand wasted no time when comments were mysteriously enabled on Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha’s official Facebook page, seizing those 12 hours of unfettered venting to rant, rage, and condemn the man who’s led the country since seizing power eight years ago. From late Monday night until about 11am, a slew of comments – heavy on expletives, memes, and utter randomness – were posted at an increasingly rapid rate until, as inexplicably as it happened, the window was closed. The 56,000 comments left before the fun ended ranged from wordy putdowns (“It’s time to get out, aren’t you ashamed with such a little brain? You shouldn’t be a leader, you aren’t qualified for any single thing. You are only a burden to this country.”) to the far more concise “Get out!” Proving brevity may not be the exclusive domain of wit, innumerable messages consisted solely of “K,” presumably short for kuay (“dick”)…” https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/for-12-entertaining-hours-thailand-could-comment-on-prayuths-facebook-pic-heres-what-they-said/
  12. Yeah, their prices are…robust to say the least. BTW if you (or anyone else) reddits: https://www.reddit.com/r/CannabisThailand/

  14. It does, in theory (in theory because the rule is based on past events and we don’t know what will happen in the future). “The concept of the 4% Rule is attributed to Bill Bengen, a financial adviser in Southern California who created it in the mid-1990s, and has since complained that it has been over-simplified by many of its adherents. He said that the 4% rule was based on a "worst-case" scenario and that 5% would be a more realistic number. The rule was created using historical data on stock and bond returns over the 50-year period from 1926 to 1976, focusing heavily on the severe market downturns of the 1930s and early 1970s. Bengen concluded that, even during untenable markets, no historical case existed in which a 4% annual withdrawal exhausted a retirement portfolio in fewer than 33 years.” [later in the article…] “Actually, the 4% Rule may be a little on the conservative side. According to Michael Kitces, an investment planner, it was developed to take into account the worst economic situations, such as 1929, and has held up well for those who retired during the two most recent financial crises. Kitces points out: This is, of course, not a reason to go beyond it. Safety is a key element for retirees, even if following it may leave those who retire in calmer economic times "with a huge amount of money left over," Kitces notes, adding that "in general, a 4% withdrawal rate is really quite modest relative to the long-term historical average return of almost 8% on a balanced (60/40) portfolio!" https://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/four-percent-rule.asp
  15. Update: the arresting officers were transferred to an “inactive” post ???????????? https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40016161 Picture of the offending plant attached…real clown show, these 4 982A484E-47E2-4FDD-AEF7-2EFB93AFC18E.webp
  16. Just looked at their FB page - how is a place like this even legal? Honest question….or is it not legal but brown envelopes are involved? Their products seriously flout the guardrails that appear to be in place for Thailand’s version of “legalization”. I should pop in and check them out but fear BIB waiting around the corner…

  18. Sadly, these type of stories are a regular feature. Literally weekly, maybe bi-weekly. Anyone know - will the dogs be put down (as they should be) or not?
  19. Anyone know what happened to Health Kitchen Pattaya? They were a meal prep/food delivery service - 2 home cooked meals a day delivered to your door - but (as far as I can tell) appear to have gone out of business? https://www.facebook.com/healthkitchenpattaya/ (not found error message) and all FB Messenger messages deleted (ordered, paid etc. through FBM) Bummed if they are in fact out of business - they were good people who delivered quality, healthy food at a reasonable price. If anyone has recommendations for a meal delivery service, please share. I understand Easy Heath (3rd Road) has something similar, but open to any other suggestion that isn’t Grab/FP. ????
  20. Fidelity has no fee international wire transfers. In my experience the money shows up in my BKK Bank account within 24-48 hours (coded as FTT as well) so it takes a bit longer but the cost savings make this a fair trade IMO.
  21. Sorry to hear this - the one I received did have a proper length hose.
