He said the truck’s cargo of 10 tonnes of sausages was stolen and that he personally will have to cover the cost, which far exceeds the amount covered by insurance.
One more thing for Thailand to sort out..how the heck can he the employee be held responsible for theft of the produce while lying injured in hospital !!!

I wish there was a version of "splitting image" in Thailand there is so much material and they wouldn't have to make it up
There was a Thai comedy show in the late 90's early 2000's called "rutsaapar hoon shurt" or Puppet Parliament obviously something simular these days would lead to the TV channel being shutdown PDQ !!!

Totally disagree with you, although this "government" seems intent on destroying them the street vendors are hard working, self sufficient, industrious entrepreneurs giving the country a world renowned
characterful "street food" reputation offering a wide choice of cheap, fast food in a convenient way....
yes quality and sanitation varies..same as at a "good restaurant"
quite a few "working class" Thais simply can't afford to spend half a months wages on one
"good restaurant" meal.
As for the traffic problem IMHO most are caused by the speeding drunk or drugged up car, truck, bus drivers not a slow coach food vendor ????

I am unsure what caused the loss of power / fluctuations
Where I live (Chonburi) its an almost certainty every time it rains there will be grid/mains power issues maybe look at a UPS to protect your equipment.

Yes, It’s in the air-con office - It rained here yesterday, which made me think was it maybe dampness
If it rained then maybe there where power issues fluctuating voltage that caused the problems , possibly corrupted the OS ?

Has there been an act or order duly signed by the appropriate authorities?
They declared "a state of emergency" that's the only act that's needed for any carte blanche actions the "authorites" decide.

I can't really blame people for ignoring these "laws" on the one hand you have the "authorities" saying a deadly pandemic is among us and we should all cower at home but on the other hand more Thai people are killed on the road every single day than have died from the "deadly pandemic" since it was first brought by the hoards of Chinese from Wuhan...if they had banned all vehicles from the roads it would have/will save more life's but its obvious that is not workable same as these "new normal" laws not workable.
Sooner everything gets back to the "old normal" the better.

Or are these positions handed down from on high?
I believe the previous mayor Ittipon Konplume was elected but after the 2014 coup local elections where suspended so an appointed person replaced him.

He also commented on filthy people depositing trash in canals that go into the sea. He could seal them off but that won't solve matters in the long term - it is the people throwing stuff in the canals that is the problem.
Wow ! could they possibly be filthy Thais instead of the much maligned filthy foreigners ?

And cue the stampeding hoards at the supermarkets , tomorrows hand wringing that people are being irresponsible pushing and shoving to get their hands on the "banned substance" so we might have to reintroduce the ban !! ????

Both are inconsistent with the 'rear end shunt' version that the lady claimed it was.
Knowing very well the area where this happened and knowing that the Nissan NV lived in the
"Eua Arthorn Village" I'll speculate that the NV driver came out of the village entrance onto the main Sukhumvit road wanting to make a U-turn which is just a couple of hundred meters further south,
lots of Thais for some reason will not "merge" into traffic they wait till they think the coast is clear and then dash straight across/slightly diagonally many lanes to the far right lane at a slow speed..the far right lane is often occupied by speeding minibuses there is a slight left hand curve in that part of the road and often vehicles blocking the left hand lane view (minibus drivers view) as they turn into the village..so both drivers could have easily not seen each other till it was too late.
