  1. There's also another strage phenomen around here (Bang Yai), there is a wealthy contractor who buys a house in every MooBaan gated village around here just to use a show model, They load the house with every amenity and use it as a selling point. I noticed some nice features and had the GF call the number on the gate and she was told this was simply a show home and we were welcome to arrange a tour to pick the stuff we wanted for our own house. Very weird. Looks great from the outside but empty too.....some Thais are doing very well apparently
  2. Agree...I prefer Savannakhet...even though that's more Thai than Lao anyway !
  3. We have a house across the street (yes another Land and House community !) about 3 years old, purchased around the same time as ours. Owner comes usually once or twice per year, never occupied, he comes for 10 miniutes, sometimes not even going inside the house and leaves. A very puzzling problem. Not paying hos common area fees (well of course not using any common area services either). No improvements were ever done, the house has never been occupied. Water company disconnected service last year, electric bills just stack up in hi mailbox until the wind blows them around. Jungle of course as it's an end unit and has a nice garden area. I wish someone would come and move in...but then again....bad neighbors are always worse than no neighbors. For now...doesn't bother me because you never know who you might get in there.
  4. oops didn't see that...because edited it after I posted.
  5. One of my favorite fish...but a terrible predator introdcued into USA lakes and rivers. I think in Minnesota they actually pay you $100 bucks for proof you caught and killed one.
  6. The extra 'r' is an option installed at the dealer...
  7. Rain, Rain and more Rain in Nonthaburi. Sigh...testing to see if hte dining room table can serve as a flotation device
  8. Yeah Hafele is one of the more decent brands. Stay away from the Chinese no name brands IMHO. The most important thing in an induction cooktop is the number and size of the cooling fans. Look at the underside and see what they have. These units will fail due to overheating of the electronic components so good cooling ventilation is esential. As to the rest, most of the internals are the same, big loops of copper wire and a borosilicate glass cooktop. The control types (touchpad) are really presonal preference. The Hafele along with Electrolux and MEX are the most common built in units in house builds these days and have pretty good reps.
  9. I thought this was going to be about bugs...why not, easier to grow and cheaper than even plant based protein.
  10. Tomorrow's plan: Allow billionaires to use the 500 baht as an offshore tax deduction against their "Pandora" accounts
  11. I hope they neighbors were not listed as "Collateral Damage"
  12. You have misquoted....I did not say this...please correct
  13. Unlike these hapless boobs, I've cleverly hidden my wealth in a series of untraceable 'investments'. 1) My GF's house" becasuse she actually owns the house and everything I've purchased in it, I get away with stashing my incredible wealth here. ???? 2) My Bank Account for Visa Extensions: The fact that I must keep a certain balance to prove I have money to live on whilst in Thailand, that I actually can't spend or I won't be able to live in Thailand, protects me from international scrutiny like these hapless billionaires. ????
  14. yeah...halfway thru the post it gets a little more interesting...
  15. One kind of wonders (and I say this full knowing I have little experience in water management), if during periods of relative low rainfall (June/July/August) when the environment as a whole can absorb more releases....why not release some to keep levels where you have some excess capacity during September/October timeframe when you know every part of the system will likely be soaked thru and unable to handle any large releases.
  16. And wear a breathing mask.....ask me how I know......
  17. Blurry pic but likely bedbugs...in which case you have a BIG problem. Very difficult to eradicate...likely need to throw out all bedding or alternatively heat treat everything to kill them. But their eggs still with you. My best advice..if a rental...get out as soon as possible if not, call in professionals to handle it.
  18. That simply won't work for high tea. I'm going to see if your'e even in the social register
  19. GF of 6 years will have (upon my passing: assuming she is not the one who kills me off): 1) Her current house (our home) loan paid off in full if not already 2) I plan on buying a separate condo in Hua Hin in a few years to enjoy while alive and that will be bequeathed to her. 3) My 800K+ Immigration account will also go to her upon passing If resources allow, prior to passing setup a lifetime annuity so steady income supplementation will be there for her golden years. That's the plan anyway....we'll see as long as she doesn't kill me herself she'll be OK
  20. Why didn't you take the bike and save yourself the walk ?
  21. I'm sure there's a clause somewhere in your fire insurance policy discouraging that. ????
