Put the excess on a bus and pick it up at the bus station in NST.
Or...tell your wife to pack more sparingly.
Do the latter at your own risk.

She deserves an apology.
The Australian govt. would be wise to issue one promptly.

My wife has never had a problem checking in with one carry on and another small bag.
IME, what you have to be careful of with AirAsia, is the weight of your bags. They won't hesitate to charge you more for excess weight.

Thanks for your replies.
No, I haven't installed MS updates or any new software.
However, I did do a registry scan with CC Cleaner.
Could that be the culprit?
I guess my big concern is that this is the result of a virus of some sort.

I turned on my computer yesterday and noticed that the XP theme I had selected months ago had changed. Also, when I turned off the computer I heard the sign off music which I had disabled. There might also be other changes, which I haven't noticed yet
Has this ever happened to anyone?
I've done a fairly thorough virus and malware search, but didn't come up with anything.
Any ideas on what might have happened?

I was always under the impression that it was 40K combined from the husband and wife.
Learn something new everyday.

I would think that the reason he showed up in the embassy computer data base (and was subsequently deported) is because of the charges of giving drugs and pornography to a minor. I can't imagine that they would go to all this trouble in other situations that didn't involve these (deservedly) hot topic issues.

I don't think you should have raised your voice at an employee who was likely only doing what she was instructed to do by her manager.
Well I was a bit irked that the lady co-worker had to butt in and save the guys shocked looked which is understandable as thais dont experience much demands.
So it was directed towards the mean faced lady.
Were you speaking in English or Thai?
Have you considered that the guy's "shocked look" could have been due in part to you speaking in English....in a raised voice? Perhaps the "mean faced lady" had more of a command of the English language and that is why she 'butted in".

Good point. Especially if one was under doctor's orders not to consume cold beverages.

I don't know if it was the blood idea that broke them, or if they were broken before they tried it. But either way, the reds chances of instituting change before the next scheduled election are over.

It seems as if there are some serious communication issues that need to be addressed.
From your post I gather that your Thai isn't great...how is her English?

Leave.
Run, don't walk.

On so many different levels this is a bad idea.

Legit documentation: Non-Immigrant B visa and Work permit. Some of the dodgier schools have a history of not supporting their teachers to become 'legal'.
OK, 100,000 baht and staying at your father's house until you're up on your feet sounds much better.
Good luck!
FYI....Teaching jobs are even more difficult to come by in Krabi.

I flew on TG to CNX and was able to go through immigration and customs there.

Lots of people want to teach on Phuket, and to be frank, most of them will have significantly more experience than you.
That's not to say it can't be done, but I think it will be a struggle for you to find a good job---regular pay, legit documentation, etc...
Because so many want to teach/live there, the pay isn't really that great. I could be wrong, but I think that many earn about 25-30,000 baht a month
1000 Pounds is only about 48,000 baht. In my personal opinion, the minimum you should come with is 4 or 5 times that amount.
Sorry if this reply come across as harsh, but I'm trying to give you the reality as I see it.

Why stop with this guy? I am sure there are many more like him walking around. Thing is, it requires people to speak up and for whatever reason, too many foreigners that know of other foreigners doing these things, do not. Nice to wring one's hands, but are we doing our part to prevent this from happening?
I don't know anyone (foreigner or Thai) doing 'these things'. And if I did, I would certainly contact the police immediately. I'd like to think that the overwhelming majority of people would do the same.

As he has admitted he committed the act (but claims the sex with 12 year olds was consensual), we can only hope he doesn't get out of jail alive.

My wife is generally not very interested in politics, but she does have a strong dislike for Thaksin and the red shirts.

Despite living here for more than a few years, I still really can't get over how a rape victim's name and photo are published in the newspaper.
If I had to guess, I don't think this woman had any idea that these photos would end up in the paper or on the internet.

Oh btw nuking Iran would not be good for the world oil supply nor the radiation blowback would also get Israel. So yes a bad idea all around.
It was your idea!

It seems to me that if you're interested in short term speculation, then you can use the ETFs.
But if you're in it for the long haul, you should hold physical.

If something like that happens again, just pretend that you have no idea what he's talking about.
"Red shirts? Yellow shirts? I don't understand."
