we don't have any plans in regards to where we'll go or the mode of transport we'll be using. We definitely won't be driving. We'll either be using buses, trains, (ferries if and where necessary), and maybe flying.
when not flying, I'd recommend taking the train. It's safe, economical, and gives you a chance to see a different part of the country.
If you don't book a first class car, go for a second class sleeper in an air conditioned car.

And those I don't know, I don't "acknowledge". Simply because they're not Thai is not reason enough for me to "acknowledge" them.

Was it the same machine?
Were the "two days" you mentioned, Saturday and Sunday?
If so, perhaps the machine was actually empty and will be refilled on Monday.

I know one thing.
Claiming that Tesco Krabi is 100% more expensive than Tesco Phuket is utterly ridiculous.

They've got their work cut out for them.

Helmets weren't mentioned, but "high-speed" was.
And considering they flew off the overpass onto the road below, I'm not sure how much helmets would have helped them in this case.

Very happy with my Jazz for city driving.
Especially making U-turns.

I lived in Krabi a few years ago, and while some grocery items were expensive, I didn't encounter anything like what you heard.

My wife is on Facebook right now.

Not making light of the inconvenience you're putting up with, but to be perfectly frank, I'm somewhat surprised the Internet is up and running at all during this time of unrest.

It could have been practically anything.
Best to get it checked out by a professional.
-
This is troubling.
I wonder if this will be part of a country-wide, coordinated strategy.
-
Very unlikely.
Wrap it in a couple pieces of paper to help lower the possibility.

Why Is The Thai Baht So Strong?
The countries of the currencies you're comparing it to likely have significantly more debt.

In July of last year, silver was trading at ~$12/oz on world markets. Now it's at ~19/oz.

A couple of dogs will provide plenty of security.

SWIFT transfers are quick, reliable, and the fees are negligible.
