Report Israeli Tourist Sparks Outrage Over Shoe Rule Dispute in Thailand
CLW replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Hello. Did people actually read everything before posting comments? She got the permission from the restaurant owner to keep her shoes on for whatever reason AND the person filming was not a Thai national. Probably some other nationality that doesn't like Israelis or simply just another Karen type. She also doesn't refer to Thailand when she said "my money builds your country". -
Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Should do it as in most countries of the world. Locals (based on their address on ID card) pay discounted ticket prices, other Thais and foreigners pay the normal price. Hell, even China has this system. -
Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No, it's about the principle. And also that lame attempt to fool foreigners with announcing the Thai prices in Thai script -
Please allow me to post this. Not really related to Thailand but during the holidays in China I saw these two interesting EVs. 1.) Arcfox. The driver told me they are doing high altitude (3.700 m.a.s.l) testing 2.) Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. What a stunner. Just saw it parked in the city

I was wondering if anyone has done terrazzo flooring for his house. And what are the costs per square metre. I'm thinking to do it for the second floor of our new house. The current plan is to use same tiles (except bathroom) for the whole floor approximately 60 m2. My wife thinks terrazzo flooring is more expensive than tiles and I have the same thought.

Running all electrical wiring through blue pipe.
CLW replied to giddyup's topic in The Electrical Forum
Why not using the white or yellow PVC pipes. They are specifically for wiring. I'm guessing they are harder to ignite and maybe have some self extinguishing properties. -
Accident Horrific Motorway 7 Crash Claims Eight Lives
CLW replied to Georgealbert's topic in Bangkok News
While it's a really terrible accident what was the SUV doing on the emergency lane. It's called emergency lane for a reason. Certainly not for changing diapers or going into the bushes for toilet. Other countries have fines if you stop there for any reason that is not an emergency for the very reason that it's super dangerous there. Besides, there are more than enough parking lots along the motorway or places to stop before and after the Lat Krabang toll booth. -
Immigration Thai PM Tackles Overstaying Tourists with Visa-Free Scheme Revamp
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You reap what you saw. This is the fallout from the extortion and kidnapping cases of Chinese nationals in Thailand. In many cases Thai officials and police were involved. -

I think a TOU meter makes a lot of sense. We changed it when we bought our EV one year ago and the savings are huge for a normal household. We are both working full time and can take advantage of the the cheap electricity on evenings, weekends and public holidays to run AC and other consumers in the house. I would recommend everyone with an EV to switch the whole house to TOU

Rescue Cat 'Satong' Becomes Online Star After Surviving Quake

Is it only my impression or are most of theses news stories on AN now written by AI? -
But that would require more work and regular maintenance. While I understand that the first thing also relates to the budget available for tree cutting the second is a concept unknown to most Thais

New house - a few questions for the electrical system
CLW replied to CLW's topic in The Electrical Forum
Thank you everyone for the helpful replies, most thankful to @Crossy and @sometimewoodworker On Sunday I had a site inspection with one electric engineer, who's going to make a quotation and also a wiring diagram. This company usually does condominiums and industrial buildings, so my hopes are high that they deliver good quality, in planning and execution. We'll see. -
American Tourist Dies in Phuket After Night Out Drinking with Friends
CLW replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Most likely methanol poisoning. But the autopsy should tell -
We are currently building a new house and the architect has only specified the number and position of switches, lights and other consumers. She said it's up to the technician or engineer to make detailed electrical plans. While I have a basic understanding of electricity, I still have a few questions. 1.) I want the electric outlets all grounded. I guess this is the current standard in European countries anyways??? 2.) safety has a high priority. I don't understand the differences between RCD, RCCB and so on. Which system is the standard at the moment and how does it look on a wiring diagram or the breaker box / MDB. 3.) for connecting the wires in the junction boxes I don't want them to be just twisted together Thai style. I want them to use quick connectors. Am I overreacting? I guess the use of connectors is standard in Europe for a few decades already.... 4.) I've read that some A/C companies refuse to install inverter units on a RCD (or similar layout). Is this true? Or must that circuit(s) from the A/C just be excluded from the RCD wiring. Thank you for your help 🙏🏻

Bangkok Tower Collapse: Watchdog Warned of Sub-Standard Steel
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Very unlikely in this case it has something to do with the concrete. Building sites like this size have their own concrete mixing plant on site and keep records and cube samples of every batch of mixed concrete. I pretty much suspect substandard steel and wrong bending of the rebar led to the collapse -
I saw this one at the current Motorshow. Geely Geome Xingjuan (Starwish) No price announced yet, but could be under 400k THB. Interesting car for city use but with full size and specs (definitely not a microcar). However, the motor, battery and top speed is much lower than his competitors BYD Dolphin and Aion UT. Regarding Aion UT, I think it's a fantastic car. The higher trim version comes with every possible gimmick and has a whopping 238 HP. For my situation (we are only two person household), I would buy it instantly if we wouldn't have the MG 4 already.

But currently MG 4 is like that

The reason why I'm asking, I'm currently staying in Thailand on my first VE 60 days arrival by air and I'm leaving for honeymoon to China. Flight would be DMK - KMG - DMK. On the same arrival day I have my outbound flight from BKK back home and will be returning to Thailand a week later. I'm afraid I might have too many VE in a short time. So basically I would stay on Thai soil for less than twelve hours, only to transfer between DMK and BKK. For this I don't want to "waste" another VE by air. Is there any transit VE stamp that I can request from the IO that allows me to stay, let's say 12 hours in Thailand?
