  1. The cutoff date for paying voluntary NI contributions going back to 2006 is now extended until 31st July: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/taxpayers-given-more-time-for-voluntary-national-insurance-contributions
  2. Did the police ever catch up with the Rayong footbridge rumpy-pumpers? https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30327025
  3. Many of the street stalls on lower Sukhumvit selling weed are also selling sex toys. You can buy a bubble bong and a double dong from the same vendor.
  4. Keep in mind it may be necessary to do this some days in advance. Earliest available slot currently is 23rd February.
  5. If you can wing the financials (or use an agent) you're really much better off with an O or O-A visa and extensions.
  6. Promax should work fine, the white bottle. I also had good results with a cheap Chinese brand from Mr DIY (hydrochloric acid based). Be careful, if you leave it on for too long it'll dissolve the grouting.
  7. Yes, it should have increased, though only future NIC years are included in the projected figure, so it may also have decreased if unpaid contribution years become back years.
  8. I sent some on Thursday and it credited to SCB almost immediately, a minute or two later.
  9. I was actually asked for a copy of my rental contract when I did Non O extension at CW in December, in spite of having given it a few weeks earlier when converting to the Non O. The reason the IO asked was that my TM30 (filed during the big TM30 kerfuffle of 2019) was not considered recent and she wanted a more current proof of address.
  10. Two gallons a week? ????
  11. The article linked earlier in the thread suggests that in terms of overall mortality this is somewhat true, although losing a bit of weight can certainly help with such things as GERD, mobility problems etc. "Likewise, we don’t fully understand the relationship between weight and overall mortality. Many of us assume it’s a linear relationship, meaning the higher your BMI, the higher your risk of early death. But Katherine Flegal, an epidemiologist with the CDC, has consistently found a J-shaped curve, with the highest death rates among those at either end of the BMI spectrum and the lowest rates in the “overweight” and “mildly obese” categories."
  12. Nana Hiso Hotel in soi 3, just hang around the lobby. They've also got one in Pattaya.
  13. Recent entry at DMK (on AirAsia from SGN in November) was straightforward, visa exempt entry after years of retirement extensions on Non O-A visa. They asked how long I was staying and were trying to find a re-entry permit, as soon as I explained I was in the process of changing to Non O and just needed a 45 day entry they stamped me in.
  14. Sensational Alex Harvey Band did a great version of this song.
  15. I think this is correct and Phuket are wrong. Did you get a date of notification slip from immigration the day you did the extension, saying next report would be 90 days from the date the extension was given?
  16. Yes new state pension can require anything between 35 and 47 years of contributions depending on how many years someone was contracted out.
  17. The annual increase doesn't apply, there's a separate calculator used for deferrals after state pension age, equivalent to 5.8% pa. https://www.gov.uk/deferring-state-pension/what-you-get
  18. Yes, I was shifting from Non O-A extensions to Non-O to get rid of the insurance requirements, so I had everything in place and was familiar with the extension procedure.
  19. I think I did this in about the minimal time possible. Arrived on visa exempt entry, went to CW the following day to switch to Non O, given date for collection three weeks after arrival date in country. My visa was stamped with around 9 weeks remaining, and I went back to do the extension 3 weeks after that, 45 days early. So allowing for holidays and weekends etc, minimum time between starting the process and getting the extension stamp at CW will be 6-7 weeks, or a couple of weeks more for offices that only allow extensions 30 days early.
  20. I was told this as well by CW immigration last month when I did non O retirement extension. My passport will need renewing this year and the IO told me to bring updated bank book and letter when I come in and transfer the stamps.
  21. Presumably because they were all illegal at the time and anyone who smoked weed was hanging around people who also dabbled in other stuff. You had to mix in the underworld and interact with a dealer who had other substances available. When I was growing up the consequences of getting busted were quite scary even for cannabis. Agree with the OP that a foreigner would have to be nuts to willingly go on a police database for buying weed in a country so famous for u turns.
  22. There used to be a rule on the books between 2006-08 which had a limit of 90 days out of every 180. Although rescinded 15 years ago it still gets mentioned, and some border officers no doubt use it as an unofficial rule of thumb.
  23. A visa exempt entry to Non O conversion (basis of retirement) after killing off the Non O-A.
  24. If you're renting you'll need copy of the TM30 and the rental contract. I did O-A to O conversion at CW in November and all docs were accepted without quibble, only surprise was need to have a home visit the following week to verify address.
