I was actually asked for a copy of my rental contract when I did Non O extension at CW in December, in spite of having given it a few weeks earlier when converting to the Non O. The reason the IO asked was that my TM30 (filed during the big TM30 kerfuffle of 2019) was not considered recent and she wanted a more current proof of address.

Do I go on a Diet or follow this Expat advice .

The article linked earlier in the thread suggests that in terms of overall mortality this is somewhat true, although losing a bit of weight can certainly help with such things as GERD, mobility problems etc. "Likewise, we don’t fully understand the relationship between weight and overall mortality. Many of us assume it’s a linear relationship, meaning the higher your BMI, the higher your risk of early death. But Katherine Flegal, an epidemiologist with the CDC, has consistently found a J-shaped curve, with the highest death rates among those at either end of the BMI spectrum and the lowest rates in the “overweight” and “mildly obese” categories." -

Recent entry at DMK (on AirAsia from SGN in November) was straightforward, visa exempt entry after years of retirement extensions on Non O-A visa. They asked how long I was staying and were trying to find a re-entry permit, as soon as I explained I was in the process of changing to Non O and just needed a 45 day entry they stamped me in.

unusual question concerning 90 day report
lamyai3 replied to zzzzz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I think this is correct and Phuket are wrong. Did you get a date of notification slip from immigration the day you did the extension, saying next report would be 90 days from the date the extension was given? -
What pension will I get if I defer it after April 6th
lamyai3 replied to madmac1's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Yes new state pension can require anything between 35 and 47 years of contributions depending on how many years someone was contracted out. -

The annual increase doesn't apply, there's a separate calculator used for deferrals after state pension age, equivalent to 5.8% pa. https://www.gov.uk/deferring-state-pension/what-you-get -
I think I did this in about the minimal time possible. Arrived on visa exempt entry, went to CW the following day to switch to Non O, given date for collection three weeks after arrival date in country. My visa was stamped with around 9 weeks remaining, and I went back to do the extension 3 weeks after that, 45 days early. So allowing for holidays and weekends etc, minimum time between starting the process and getting the extension stamp at CW will be 6-7 weeks, or a couple of weeks more for offices that only allow extensions 30 days early.

Presumably because they were all illegal at the time and anyone who smoked weed was hanging around people who also dabbled in other stuff. You had to mix in the underworld and interact with a dealer who had other substances available. When I was growing up the consequences of getting busted were quite scary even for cannabis. Agree with the OP that a foreigner would have to be nuts to willingly go on a police database for buying weed in a country so famous for u turns.

Changing to Non IMM O from OA
lamyai3 replied to farangkrab's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you're renting you'll need copy of the TM30 and the rental contract. I did O-A to O conversion at CW in November and all docs were accepted without quibble, only surprise was need to have a home visit the following week to verify address. -
UK State Benefits [Half Thai] Sprogs
lamyai3 replied to Jenkins9039's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
£800 is the class 3 rate, £150 is class 2. Eligibility for class 2 contributions is much more restrictive, any expats not working here will most likely have to pay class 3. Even at class 3 it's a bargain though, amounting to 6-7x immediate annuity rates. -

OP mentioned earlier in the thread that it's in this ball park: "They would probably fall down laughing at my measly (not to me) amount of a few hundred thousand B." -
Should find these in Villa, Gourmet, Tops or Foodland. In the Foodland restaurant I've seen Worcester sauce as a condiment so for sure they'll sell it.

Pro tip - never try this with your testicles.

UK State Benefits [Half Thai] Sprogs
lamyai3 replied to Jenkins9039's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
As per comments above new UK state pension is above £200pw from next April, almost double what it was a decade ago, and almost 3x from 20 years ago. Until April 2023 it's possible to catch up missing years all the way back to 2006-07, after which it reverts back to previous 6 years. -
Why is Thai immigration so <deleted>ty?
lamyai3 replied to gejohesch's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Apologies, I wasn't aware of the new rules in India. I actually had a 5 year visa in the late 90's during which you could genuinely stay there long term (and get resident permit for cheaper domestic flights etc), but that all went away after the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Encouraging to see the country is once again welcoming long stayers. -

The 5 year option is considerably more expensive. Plus you're not allowed more than 90 days per entry and maximum 180 days in a year.
