  1. I just completed this quiz. My Score 20/100 My Time 189 seconds
  2. I noticed I have a TIN listed on one of my savings account statements here in relation to the (very low) interest rates given. Is this the same number the RD is talking about?
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 50/100 My Time 164 seconds
  4. If you don't fancy the pills you could perhaps try switching to a Non ED visa?
  5. Thanks for the dark mode, appreciated.
  6. Pretty sure TPC has sent you the correct answer here. The 5 year membership expires 3rd January, and immigration made an error stamping you beyond that date. Until a few years ago getting a 6th year out of the 5 year elite was common practice, but more recently immigration had a problem with it - I remember comments on the forum where people were warned they'd be on overstay if they stayed beyond the expiry of their membership. How much this is enforced is anyone's guess, given that immigration officers are clearly still stamping people beyond the 5 year mark. Edit. Just saw your second email response from TPC. A few years ago they were writing to members toward the end of their membership expiry warning of overstay consequences of staying beyond the 5 years. It seems like their muddled response in their second message to you shows they've since backed down from this position.
  7. I just completed this quiz. My Score 100/100 My Time 139 seconds
  8. That guy was identified in the news report as a "fat farang", no mention of nationality.
  9. Just installed a pretty decent kitchen faucet from Mr DIY for 299฿. The previous one was Rasland brand (from Homepro) and was leaking quite badly after two or three years. The Mr DIY one is almost identical and less than half the price - they seem to have improved their products recently.
  10. I did this in 2022 and completed the entire process in under two months. Visit to CW immigration the next working day after returning on 30 day visa exempt entry to apply for the Non O, and again 45 days before it expired. With the Non O (retirement) I was required to have a home visit during the under consideration period which was normal at that time, not sure if this is still required. From the date you visit the office to apply for the extension.
  11. I had a daikon recently, it was a load of radish.
  12. I did a Wise transfer from UK three days ago and funds for long term stay in Thailand was still there at the bottom of the list.
  13. There's at least three - LTR is under Ministry of Interior (BOI), DTV is Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elite is owned by TAT under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. And then immigration (under the RTP) often have their own ideas about whether to let people in or not. With the Revenue Department thrown into the mix from next year it'll be enough to befuddle Kafka.
  14. 13/3, they used the building on the corner about half way up on the right. Not a great film, but fun to spot the landmarks - big fight at Marine Disco towards the end.
  15. Changes of 30 day visa exempt entries to longer periods have happened before, always temporary. The most recent was the increase from 30 to 45 days in October 2022 which lasted for six months.
  16. Keep in mind also the rates will rise after the current deadline for back payments expires in April 2025.
  17. The number of years required depends on how many years an individual was contracted out and could be anywhere between 35 and 47 years under the new state pension. Assuming the statement is correct and updated, you can buy about 1½ years more of pension before maxing it out adding £6.32 (& £3.63 for the final part year), this payment would be recouped within about 3 years of receiving the pension. If you're going to top up, use 2020-21 and 2021-22 and save 50 quid.
  18. Rookie mistake. He went out that evening looking for a lap dance and somehow woke up the next day in Lapland.
  19. ASEAN Visa sounds like a good name for a forum...
  20. A red handed swede sounds more like a turnip, or perhaps even a beetroot.
  21. Sounds like he was upsetting his neighbour on a regular basis to the extent that the neighbour filed a complaint. Yes, if you're making noisy zoom calls at unsociable hours in a studio apartment with thin walls you're going to get in trouble. If he'd been discreet and not caused trouble for people around him he'd most certainly have been left alone like many others are. From an interview a few years ago with the Chiang Mai Work Permit Office: 4. A foreigner sits in his apartment in Chiang Mai and teaches Chinese students online via Skype. The verdict: " Officially, work, however it is not a main concern to our office now, so we allow the foreigner to do this without a work permit. " This verdict considers the scale of the work and the environment. https://www.chiangmailocator.com/wiki-can-digital-nomads-legally-work-in-thailand-p177
  22. The current administration has set the goal of 80 million tourist arrivals by 2027, double the previous high.
  23. There's no history of deportations of online workers here, immigration have admitted in the past that they have no interest in pursuing this. The exceptions that hit the news were people working out of organised call centres. Elite were actually pitching their product to digital nomads and remote workers last summer (including not needing to pay taxes), but this all fell flat when the new tax laws were announced in the Autumn. The DTV looks like it's been set up to capitalise on this same loophole. "My mate nate" was not a remote worker, he's always targeted Thais locally. He was in the news after he upset people with some ill-judged pranks and there was some kerfuffle regarding his work permit which he wound up sorting out.
  24. It's sent by courier, you're given a track and trace number. Mine arrived in Birmingham about 3 days after my VFS appointment.
