Does your Thai partner know much about history outside of Thailand?
Skeptic7 replied to sharksy's topic in General Topics
Absolutely, yes. My former uni graduate Thai gf knew not much, but more than most. My buddy has a hi-so PhD Thai gf and she knew zip of The Holocaust. Nothing. He was SHOCKED. Me...not so much. Thai motto...If it didn't happen in Thailand, it didn't happen...or it's not worth mentioning❗???? -

Sure, it was all those things and more...and why I/we adored it. The big diff back then was they didn't whine & complain and weren't SO hypocritical and BS and try to hide & sugar coat everything. It was what it was, everyone knew it and were happy...smile, accept and "mai pen rai". It still is what it was, but now they try to pretend it's everything it's not, while becoming more authoritarian, repressive and silly. Have to admit...I don't see even 1 improvement you see, not even slightly, so much as drastically. Air...as bad or worse Driving...more dangerous than ever Scams still abundant Government sucks Dual pricing and gouging still prevalent Beaches filthier and tourist raids more common Immigration more onerous And ludicrous alcohol selling hours were non-existent and/or not enforced in the good ol' yesteryears.

Awww such a shame...NOT❗This place deserves every bit of bad it gets and only has itself to blame. Actually deserves much more than it gets, but still somehow skating by...riding the long gone reputation of yesteryears. Badly tarnished now and in dire need of a spit shine. Toxic air, hazardous death trap drivers and driving conditions, scams, regular coups, endless junta government, tourist area raids, overpricing, dual pricing and gouging, ludicrous alcohol hours...and the ???? list goes on and on. Som nam na.

I really do not like thai jasmine rice that much
Skeptic7 replied to parafareno's topic in Thai Food
You (or someone) is cooking your Jasmine incorrectly. I love both and can (and do) sub one for the other quite often, depending on what's available. -
Can't answer the OP....but do know when too much is too much❗????

Thailand’s heatwave nears end, rainy season looms
Skeptic7 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good & steady soaking rain in Jomtien this afternoon for about 35 mins. Hearing thunder rumbling again now. Hopefully more to come. -
Yes. Jomtien. Expected an increase due to heat & humidity always this time of year and running aircon more...but didn't expect a double over last month. Prob a 50% increase over same period last year.

"<deleted>" missionaries should be banned. Buddhism is mind-numbing and "dumbing down" enough... and it is one of the milder of superstitions. I've talked to a few Gee-zus moron missionaries on flights here from the USA and quite firmly, informed them that they are not needed...nor wanted...here. They were shocked. Not accustomed to the silly bubble in which they reside being pricked❗????

There are secular alternatives. 12-step Progam is dogmatic and rigid in it's method. It's a peddling power play to break a person further down and force them to admit they are not in control. There are other, better ways without this kind of BS.

Turkish man assaults Pattaya restaurant worker, leaving him in a coma

Dude is a total menace and whackjob and needs to be eliminated from the gene pool. -
Why❓ The Abrahamic BS...err "faiths" are ridiculous, as well as abhorrent. All the rest are ridiculous at best. I don't respect any faiths. Some people whom are faithful might be respectable, but not their subjective superstition. In what other aspect of life does anyone conduct themselves based on faith in something absolutely unknown and unknowable? Blind faith, in other words. The only answer is, none. Zero.

April/May is historically the hottest month throughout Thailand. There may be some local exceptions, but generally these 2 months are at the top for most/all regions. For whatever the causes, the temps globally are trending up, so no surprise it's hotter this year than last or 5-10-20 years back. This year is also an "El Nino" weather pattern year, which makes for hotter and drier conditions in SE Asia. This an excellent and easy to use sight for climate data, averages, etc for nearly anywhere. Just input a country, province, state or city into the search ????. https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/thailand/bangkok/climate
