And for good measure we will throw in this plastic straw that you don't really need to drink that (plastic) bottle of water, some plastic spoons to eat your yogurt with and this plastic cutlery to go with your ultra processed, god awful prepacked meal. (presented in plastic of course)

My FIL in the UK had that same problem. He lost his right leg at about 5 years old.
The local garage fitted an extra throttle to the left of the brake pedal and the other end was placed on top of the existing throttle. it was a steel rod with a throttle pedal at the left end, and (I think) a clip or a clamp at the main pedal end. The steel rod was clamped to the floor of the car with U brackets.
I can see it in my mind and describe it, but I have no picture to show of it.
When able bodied people drove the car a small box was placed over the extra pedal.
The car was a Triumph 2000 with an automatic gearbox.
An alternative may be a hand throttle, but that may be more difficult to fit to a car.
Sadly I cannot ask him as he died in 1998 and the car probably was sold or scrapped.
You mean something like this:
Available on Ebay. I've just posted a link to the O/P.

Possibly he had difficulty walking and was using the trolley for support.
A phenomena I have noted regarding suicides in Thailand (and other Asian countries) is that jumpers tend to remove their shoes prior to falling. I'm sure the police will have noted that too.

I'm going to presume here that your pal has a prosthetic right leg and a functioning left one. If that's the case, then moving the accelerator over to the left of the brake pedal makes perfect sense. And from from the look of the photo, that's what he has and he is used to.
A better solution, IMO than having a hand throttle, which would entail 'one hand steering' which is not regarded as very safe.
Thais are pretty creative when it comes to novel solutions and I'm sure if you/he keep asking around, you'll find someone who can help. Good luck

Except that it's probably not heartbreaking for the community. For them It's karma and now the boys are now in their next life.
One of my Thai nieces (when younger), used to show me photos of her best friend with her head splattered all over the road after headbutting a concrete post. Not a tinge of sadness as she explained how they had to pick bits of brain out of the grass verge..... she's gone onto her next life - that's all.
And I suspect that you have hit upon the most important aspect of all as far as Thai culture is concerned. Death is not the end as far as they are concerned. It's merely a transient stage until they are reborn.
I've lived in my wife's village for 8 years now and seen many folks pass away, but there is no sense of loss or grieving. They go through the funeral rites, have a bit of a party, a few prayers and simply get on with their lives.

I complained to Wise and they cancelled the card and fully refunded me. Then they sent a new debit card which was also UNLOCKED!! The hotel manager stole the card again and I had to repeat the refund process.
After that, I gave up getting the card! My Wise bank account works fine, but I have no idea why they send out unlocked physical cards.
Reminder to self: Stay at a different hotel next time! 🙂
Wise, very wisely, will only send out a debit to your registered UK address. Which they would reasonably assume to be a secure address.
You, very unwisely had yours mailed to an address that obviously what not secure. And then to compound your error you made the same mistake again. Tut tut!
I'd say that you were very lucky that Wise saw fit to reimburse not just once, but twice!

Here in CM, the Tokay lizard has returned.
Just a moment ago, I heard, for the first time this year, the wonderful vocalizations of the grand Tokay.
Tokays typically live for 7 to 10 years, so your Tokay has probably never left. However it's only the male that make that lovely sound and only then during the breading season, which is coming up right now.
They are great mousers, by the way, so they are always welcome around our house.

Thanks. I wonder what will happen in practice - there was a recent poll saying that 58% of expats intend not to file at the present time. Also comments from the Finance Minister last month suggesting that the rules were under review. Three weeks until the deadline and things are still as clear as mud.
Yes, I remember that poll. It was published in the Thai Enquirer a while back. And here's another interesting factoid, closer to home.
In another recent tax thread, one of our flock, @MikeandDow posted:
'They will have to be knocking on my door before i fill out any of there (sic) BS'.
That one post received 68 'I agree' emojis (1 of them was mine) and 37 other positive emojis. I think that's the biggest reaction I've seen on this forum for many a year. So we know what the sentiment is on this forum. It's right at the top of page 1.

"My girlfriend thinks it hurts a cat's neck to bend down and eat, so she won't set the bowl of catfood on the floor. She puts something under the bowl to raise it up so the cat can eat without bending its neck."
In the wild, a cat will eat it prey from the ground, not needing a table or any such luxury.
If you feed your cat only dry food, (cat biscuits) it must have plenty of clean drinking water.
Kittens do very well on their mothers milk, as do all young mammals.
We have a selection of cats, and all are doing well on daily cat biscuits with the occasional treat of Plaa Tu or fish/ meat scraps.
We do not have any milk in the house, only Coffee-mate, or I am sure khun wife would give the cats bowls of milk.
Best food for cats is as they would get in the wild;- small animals and raw meat/fish. If they catch a bird or mouse, let them eat it, it will do them good.
We have a mother and two of her offspring that hang around our house and I know that one of her litter were borne in our roof space. But there's no way I would call them pets. They are borne and bred 'outdoor cats' and are atypical scroungers. I feed them a small quantity of dry cat meal and leave them to fill their bellies the natural way.
The wife moans about them sometimes but my retort is always 'do you ever see any rodents in the house?'
As far as milk is concerned, never. Most cats are lactose intolerant and should only ever drink water.

Why would any office want to block a marriage based extension?
2 hours ago, BrandonJT said:They're about the most complicated extension that can be applied for. The local offices are not even allowed to approve them and they have to be sent to a higher level office for approval, hence the "under consideration" period for marriage extensions. They often try to push people over 50 onto retirement extensions once they hit that age.
1 hour ago, Hotrats said:Because it is so much more complicated and more work for them. A retirement visa extension is relatively straightforward. The retirement extension can be approved on the spot, whereas the marriage extension can only be approved at head office. I remember when I first went with my Thai wife to apply for an extension based on marriage, they did all they could to persuade me to change and apply for a retirement extension. As it turned out the retirement extension was far better for them (less work) and me (less paperwork required and can be approved on the spot).
Thank you for your input guys. I do understand the difference between the two methods, having been on both myself. It was the use of the word 'block' I was querying.
I cannot accept that any office or IO would 'block' someone's application for a marriage extension simply because it caused them extra work! It's their job isn't it.

I think you have that statement back to front; it should IMO read;
"Zelensky is on the cusp of losing the entire country because of Trump's and Vance's tantrum with/against him".
Well, I slightly disagree with what you say @rough diamond. It's possible, just possible that Trump was being genuine, after all he has said so many times that he wants this war ended.
The meeting fell apart when that Pit Bull, otherwise known as Vance let rip and from there on it was all down hill. Afterall we cannot possibly have the POTUS and his Vice disagreeing in public can we.

Further, a DTA does not automatically exempt one from paying taxes in Thailand. The actual wording of the DTA specifies which country has primary or secondary (or any) taxation authority at all.
This is the only sensible answer so far.
We are from different countries, having a variety of DTAs, each with their own nuances. We may have become knowledgeable regarding our own situations, but that doesn't mean we can offer any meaningful advice to others.
And that's been the problem all along on this forum, too many pseudo 'experts', throwing in a bit of advice here and a bit more over there, until it's all become total mishmash.
I've sorted mine out now and I feel confident in the knowledge that I do not need to file a tax return and I won't be doing so. But that's me, You, @John Hansen are in a completely different situation.

That could give the World a glimmer of hope, except for one thing.
We've now seen the 'nature of the beast' that's waiting in the wing, just one 'heartbeat away' as they say.

The only kind of demolition possible for that building is top-down deconstruction. Basically engineers working from the top floor to break down the building piece-by-piece, floor by floor. It doesn't look sturdy or safe enough to get large machinery on top and there would need to be a supporting structure built around it. Thai companies do not have this kind of expertise. It would require a Japanese firm, or at the very least, extensive consultation and a partnership with a Japanese engineering company. The costs would be astronomical and with the amount of scrutiny now involved, no kickbacks for any Thais in positions of authority. In conclusion, nothing is going to happen.
I'm quite sure that if they bring the right experts in, that building can be dropped using explosives.
Plenty of Demolition videos on Youtube.

Bike is short for bicycle. Which is the Latin for 2 wheels (that's tongue in cheek). It was a quad, but it certainly wasn't a bike.
We refer to them as quad ATV's.
Bike is short for bicycle, which rolls off the tongue quite nicely.
Trike is short for tricycle, which likewise also rolls off the tongue.
But Quadickle? No, it just doesn't work does it.
Hence the universally accepted term 'quad bike'. Paradoxical, but that's they way it is.
And no, not quad ATVs. They are designed to be 'off road' vehicles, as many others have pointed out. ATV would imply otherwise.

I've been making on debit/credit card line purchases for well over 20 years without any issues, albeit I do stick to mainstream vendors.
On line banking makes it easy for anyone to check their accounts daily and spot any anomalies. I do it every morning using mobile phone app. It takes me less than 5 minutes.
No I not use a VPN when accessing my bank accounts. I see no point in that at all. Why would I want to conceal my location from my bank?
