  1. That depends on which part of the country you live in. (or visit) We'll be getting our winter woolies and thicker duvet out soon.
  2. There is no 'one simple solution' to the issue transport induced pollution.
  3. Expressways certainly do reduce greenhouse emissions by relieving urban roads of congestion. It's slow moving traffic on congested roads that causes most of the transport induced pollution. It would be much more affective if they also improve and clean up public transport and even better if they limit access to city centres for private vehicles as the do in many European cities and Singapore of course.
  4. What a load of rubbish. The only leg you're pulling mate is your own.
  5. No worries, it's happened to me twice.
  6. 'Friendly officers' being a euphemism for 'corrupt officers' of course. Let's call a spade a spade shall we.
  7. Absolutely agree. The only person who checks the tyre pressures on our motorcycles is me using a similar device. And I check them regularly, particularly the Click as they do tend to get a bit porous as they age.
  8. Doesn't it occur to you to say 'no' to all these sundry items? IMO the receiver is as guilty as the giver if they just sheepishly accept these things. I always say no thank you (politely of course) and I take my own bag.
  9. Suicides of the many veterans suffering from PTSD who have received minimal treatment amounting to a prescription is why I cringe at the phrase 'take your meds'.
  10. Toy guns can make noises too, in some cases, just like the real ones do. How would the labourers know the difference?
  11. The doctor had previously served in the south and could well have been exposed to some nasty situations. Adverse and sometimes irrational reaction is often associated with PTSD. It's a classic symptom.
  12. I do cringe somewhat whenever I read these oversimplistic solutions to what can be very complex issues. The treatment for PTSD, which is very likely this guy's problem rarely, if ever come out of a medicine bottle.
  13. 'The doctor, identified as a military physician from a hospital in Bangkok, had previously served in the southern border provinces'. Could be a case of PTSD here. No one was harmed, nor does there seem to have been any intention to so. I hope the Doctor gets the treatment that he obviously needs.
  14. That'll be Covid. Yes it was.
  15. Cor blimey is that still running? I bought a new phone about 2 years ago and never bothered to re-install it.
  16. Thanks for the tip. However Microsoft Money, ancient though it may, does everything that I need. (and lots more that I don't)
  17. The (not so) new tax that's being talked about is 'income tax'. You're talking about moving capital. You don't pay 'income tax' on capital. You're doing what many other folks are doing right now. Worrying too much.
  18. 'The accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of careful driving to ensure the safety of all road users, reported KhaoSod'. It should also serve as a stark reminder that a 2 door pick up is commercial vehicle and should only be carrying one passenger, seated in the cab alongside the driver.
  19. How on earth did you come to that conclusion? 'Somphon had attempted to overtake a car but had to swerve violently to avoid a motorbike coming from the opposite direction'. Try reading the full story before making stupid comments.
  20. This is very sad tale indeed and does seem as if the vets are milking the situation just to make more money. However that's not the whole story. It's actually a cultural thing that makes vets very reluctant to carry out your wishes and I think your only choice is to carry out the deed yourself. I'm in favour of @xylophone's suggestion above. This method is suggested by many 'assisted dying' organizations. Your beloved dog will simply 'go to sleep' once and for all. You will shed some tears for sure, but IMO it's the best thing you could do for your pet. My best wishes to you.
  21. Get your own monitor is IMO the only answer to that one.
  22. Empire brand jam jars, bought in packs of 3 from Makro.
  23. A person who can raise and maintain 800k in their Thai bank account is very unlikely to to have an income so low that it would be below his home country's tax threshold. And if they did, they wouldn't be able to afford to live here anyway. Besides, this is all academic anyway, because of the double taxation agreements.
  24. Is there a government in the west that is not concerned? And it would be no surprise that the closer to the Russian border a country is, the more they would be concerned, hence the scramble by Sweden and Finland to get into bed with NATO. IMO the west (read NATO) just needs to hold its nerve long enough for both Russia and Ukraine to fully realize that this costly war ain't going nowhere. Then they will come to the table, which where all wars end.
  25. How does such a person meet the financial requirements to come and stay in Thailand?
