My cousin just got back into Thailand. He was allowed to land in Bangkok and travel to Pattaya to a quarantine hotel there. Since he lives in Pattaya, it is convenient as his wife will be able to talk with him and see him in the window of his hotel, for his 14 day quarantine. He is happy that he did not have to go via Phuket to Thailand. I am glad that I am not so desperate to return to Thailand that I have to go to some quarantine hotel anywhere in the country. Just get your selves vaccinated, and when your numbers are up to 75 percent, I will take my chances on the country. Geezer

I wonder if poor Joe will be given nice sheets in his jail cell? I also wonder if the PM and government will be saying anything, about this case, and what they plan to do to improve the RTP in Thailand? Geezer

Blame it on Delta. Not only very contagious, but still deadly, after all it is from India, and look at how many people died in that country. Geezer

Every country needs to treat the COVID pandemic seriously. The cases in Thailand are pretty high, but the USA is getting new spikes in many states from the delta variant. There are still lots of people dying all over the world from this virus. Unfortunately in a lot of places in the world there are people who do not believe that they need to get a vaccination. I guess another million people need to die, because so many still think that COVID is just another flu. I lost another relative recently and they were in their 40s. They were non believers of the vaccine, and now they are dead. Ease the restrictions wisely, and try to remember that as a tourist destination, the more rules and restrictions that tourists have placed on them, the less chance that they will be coming to Thailand, when there are many places that they can travel without all the hoops to jump through. The high season for tourists is less than 100 days away. Just saying. Geezer

The Thai PM needs to seriously get involved with finding out how this Joe Ferrari was able to have such a lovely house and so many cars under his police salary. So considering the back ground of the Mayor of Pattaya, is anyone surprised of why there have been no permits etc, on many developments in Pattaya or area? I could be wrong, but back ground checks may uncover some of the reasons. Geezer

Yes getting 1 shot of COVID vaccine does not make you totally vaccinated, however its seems to be the case with officials or TAT or the Thai government, who all desperately want to see tourists come back to Thailand. Maybe by this time in 2022, the Government, TAT and other officials will be closer to the truth, if they spout off, their words. I do enjoy a short visit to Cha AM from Hua Hin, but I will not be doing that this coming Winter. Hopefully I can do that next Winter. Geezer

I sure hope that by December, there will be a lot more people vaccinated, and the numbers of new infections go down a bit, as well as the hospital deaths. I am still dreaming of coming to Thailand in the new year if there are less restrictions, and requirement involved, otherwise it will be the Winter of 2022 - 2023 that I will maybe show up again. When I read the Cipher post that COVID is not that dangerous. What are you on about, do you want COVID to be as deadly as Ebola? Without the vaccines, and measures that the world took with mask wearing and staying apart in areas where we all could, COVID would likely be even deadlier than the Spanish flu was. There are still people who are dying each day from COVID and yet some posters here think that it is not deadly enough, Amazing.. I just hope that by the end of this year, the amount of people in Thailand who have had their 2 shots are at least over 50 percent. Until all the children can also be vaccinated, or nasal sprayed, etc. against the COVID virus we will not be over this pandemic. Do not forget that some countries like Africa, and the countries that have internal wars going on, do not have many of their population vaccinated. How about the refugee camps in many countries, how many of those people have been vaccinated? Of course there will be people who are willing to take a chance to travel somewhere, as some people still think that they are bullet proof against COVID because of their age. My 40 year old, ex relative who was an anti vaxxer thought like that, but now he does not need a vaccine as he is dead and has been cremated as well. The pandemic continues, and I just hope that everyone gets the vaccine. Geezer

What some posters on this forum forget that they can sit around every day doing diddly, and live on their pensions, but have to wonder why the Thai people who do not have the same amount of money are using their savings? I have to wonder just how stupid or maybe I should be polite and say ignorant are these posters? It makes me sad that any expat or foreigner forgets that this is Thailand, a third world country that we are talking about. Wake up, people.. Geezer

So the tea drinking PM has 100 days until November, then what is he going to do for the start of Thailand's High Season? Is the evil alcohol ban going to still be in effect? In the USA there are anti vaxxer losers and red necks that are still dying because they are too stupid to get a good vaccination against the COVID 19 virus. In Thailand there are people who are still waiting to get AZ, or Pfizer, Moderna, or J & J vaccines and yes there are people dying in Thailand while they wait as well. I doubt that there are as many people in Thailand who are not going to get the jab, when they have the chance. That is because the Thai families have seen either one of their family members die, or their friends family member die. They seem to take this killer virus more serious that the freedom loving Americans, or even Canadians, Yes there are way too many anti vaxxers and red necks in Canada as well, even one of my ex relatives, I just hope that all of the Thai people and expats there can get a good vaccination as soon as possible, and then survive getting the Delta variant of COVID, as many news stories that I read say that most of us will get some form of COVID in the future. I am not sure of the hospital situation in Bangkok right now, but my old Thai relative had to wait at home sick with COVID for over a week, before she was finally admitted to a hospital. If she did not have some connections she would still be at home, or dead. I also have many relatives that live in the city and have to try survive while they wait for their vaccines as well as avoid a lot of people who are COVID carriers in the city. I guess they will be happy if they can dine in a restaurant on occasion, or have fewer restrictions. It has been a long time since life has been like it was in 2019. Or pre COVID. Geezer

Another 24 year old man child. A very sad news story, and I feel very sorry for this jerks mother and brother, he deserves a lengthy jail sentence at the very least. I hope the poor woman and his brother have some relative that the can go to live with. Geezer

Surprise for all you posters who can afford to live where you are at. Thailand is not just a country of the rich. There are many poor people all over the country and they are the ones hurting, especially any that live in the city. The farmers can at least grow and eat their own food, and survive on less money than people in the cities. Be happy that your retirement money is enough, if you indeed live in Thailand. Geezer

Well I guess all the party people will be kept in the same cell block as they are infected, or may start showing symptoms in the several days. I bet that most of them feel foolish for being at that gathering. I hope they all get big fines, and the foreigners get the biggest fines. Pretty stupid to be in a group of any size right now if it is not the immediate family. Geezer

Well I certainly can agree with this leading doctor. The stats in Thailand seem to have a lot fewer deaths compared with a couple other Asian countries. I doubt that the hospitals were able to save more people from dying since COVID began, than other near by Asian countries. Plus my Thai relatives who work at hospitals, have always told me that there was plenty of face saving at the start of this pandemic, and they were told to put cause of death as one of the lung diseases, and pneumonia instead of COVID 19. I have no reason to believe that my relatives would be lying to me, but I do doubt the Thai government and their total honesty. Just saying. Geezer

When I see the numbers for Aug 22 2021 in the Nation, chart, Impact of Covid 19 in ASEAN, and see Philippines New cases 215, total cases 1,839,635 and deaths of 31,810 Then I see Thailand new cases 233, total cases 1,049,295, and deaths of 9,320. I have to wonder why so many more people died in the Philippines? A difference in the the total amount of deaths is over 3 times the amount of deaths in Thailand, which makes me believe the numbers from Philippines and Indonesia a bit more. Just saying. Geezer

If November 1st is considered the start of High Season, then why not just come out and say, that hopefully Pattaya can start to reopen to tourists then. Maybe Thailand would get a few brave tourists by then. In December when the Winter is truly happening in the northern countries, there may be more brave souls who just want to go to a tropical country to stay warm, and maybe by that time more people in Thailand will have been vaccinated with 2 shots, and a bit less threat of COVID would be possible. If the rules and restriction have not been lessened, I doubt that there will be a mad rush from anywhere heading for Thailand. At least it is nearly 100 days until November 1st. More time for the businesses that have not been permanently shut down to restart and try to last through the Winter months. Geezer
