Well TAT and Thailand government, maybe asking all the world to come to Thailand and give a 60 day visa free stay, would be a good start of showing that you really want tourists to visit Thailand this Winter. 45 days are a nice start, but for retired visitors, a 60 day visa free stay would be so much better. Try a little harder.

I have visited Thailand for over 20 years and have been to most of the parks and the last time my Thai family went to Doi Suthep, I stayed at the entrance with the van driver, and the Thai family enjoyed their visit. I had my Thai wife explain that her and I had been their already 2 times in the past and I did not see anything new to warrant me paying the visitor price. I still enjoy visiting Thailand and seeing the museums and temples with my Thai family so I have many places I can still go without paying the tourist prices.

Thanks for another news update Rooster. I am just happy to be living in a country that is not at war. You still need to be vaxxed to get into the USA, unless you want to quarantine on arrival. Canada finally dropped that requirement on Oct 1st. I am glad to see a more relaxed soft drug situation in Thailand. Tourists still have to make sure that their suitcases and travel on bags are drug free when they head back home in most cases. I hope that Bangkok does not have too many more floods before the end of wet season. The last time I went north in Thailand, I flew from Bangkok to the NE, and spent a few days in Nong Khai looking for an old Canadian friend. It was a friendly place and people were friendly, plus food was great. Those pot holes in the one picture reminds me of a road to the west of Udon Thani. Thanks for the memories. That was a horrible event in NE Thailand and I feel sorry for all the parents who lost their tiny children to the ex RTP member. I just hope that we will see an end to the war in Ukraine, without it becoming nuclear. As boring to the rest of us, this invasion of Ukraine from Russia is, I do hope the war will end soon.

With the whole area being so flat, the residents have to do their own style of flood proofing their homes. Most have their main floor appliances raised up. and some have pretty good blocking means to keep at least the first half meter of their homes fixed to keep flood waters out. I hope the khlongs that still exist have been dredged and kept cleaned out, but that would be one big chore to do. Bangkok is one very large city in area. Good luck to all who live in the low lying areas.

Thailand has the highest number of privately owned guns in ASEAN
Stargeezr replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I have to wonder just how many ships in Asia get checked for illegal guns and other illegal stuff? Well that is my question on how guns get into Thailand and other Asian countries. -
At least 20 people killed in mass shooting in Thailand: Police
Stargeezr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What a horrible thing for this ex RTP to do. I guess in this country, the RTP do not get disarmed when they get fired. I wonder if that will change in the future? If this guy was also a drug dealer, maybe he should have already been in jail. Not a good day in Thailand. RIP to all the poor innocent people who died, especially all those small children. -
Some of you geezer posters better go see your eye doctor. Are any of you glad to see that some of the victims may be getting their stuff back? Most in the picture do not look as rich as you posters are, compared to them. Oh you forgot that you have way more money than many Thais. Well just a reminder then.

Some poster said legalize all drugs. You mean heroin and cocaine, as well, are you nuts? Just curious. -
Face masks still mandatory on public transport, cinemas in Thailand
Stargeezr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well I heard that in the UK the COVID, or SARS2 numbers are spiking again. Remember expats that you are living in the Kingdom of Thailand with basically military rule, so what do you expect? Do you remember that the current leader is an ex general and they all dress like they were all military in the past. Just saying. -
Just to remind everyone, CO2, and Methane gases are trace gases. both make up less than 1 percent of the atmosphere. Yet we get told everyday that Global warming, and climate change are because of them nasty greenhouse gases. Never get told that the world may be heating itself up again. That is my 2 cents worth on this subject.

Ukraine war: Biden says US will not be intimidated by reckless Putin
Stargeezr replied to webfact's topic in World News
I am just glad that everything is all talk and saber rattling. After the 10th Nuke bomb is dropped, it will not matte what is being stated on this forum or anywhere. I am hoping that Putin loses his support within Russia soon. Aren't you all glad that you are not some rich Russian now? Seems like some of them must be worried of just how crazy Putin is or will become. Just my opinion. -
Thailand’s currency weakens to 38 baht per US dollar
Stargeezr replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Today the Canada dollar is only 72 cents to the USA dollar. A lot of countries have the same situation. It is the US dollar that has increased in value. It certainly is not the USA people who are getting richer, except maybe the rich ones. Harvey -
Putin grants Russian citizenship to US whistleblower Edward Snowden
Stargeezr replied to Scott's topic in World News
Well I guess Edward will be learning to speak Russian. Have a good future living there and visiting locally. -
A fun time for all the vegetarians and vegan people. Enjoy. I was in Thailand one time during the festival, and was glad there were places to eat my Seafood and other meat dishes.

Wise move for sure. looks pretty dangerous to be close to. -
Well I hear that there may be lots of Russian tourists, but not the young men and likely some women of fighting age will be able to leave Russia for a while yet. I have not been to Phuket for years, but have fond memories of swimming at Kata and Karen beaches. Also had a few drinks in front of the Club Med at Kata beach.

Myanmar Beauty Queen Says She’s Safe In Hands Of UN Officials
Stargeezr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Glad she was able to get some help to prevent her from being sent back to Burma. There are worse places in the world than Canada, I just will not name them. Some are large countries as well. -
I am happy to get the new booster, shortly. Even if it will just help me from becoming dead if I catch COVID 19 again. I have a few relatives and friends who were anti-vaxxers. Some of them got Omicron and were very sick from it. I emailed them and let them know of my relatives and other friends who caught one of the first 3 variants and all had died. Since that e mail some have since went and got jabbed for COVID. Amazing what it takes to change people minds.
