  1. Sorry, eeworldwide, it seems that you forget who is running Thailand, also who is in power in Thailand. Who are the Elites and ultra rich in Thailand , All of that is why Thailand will not change much from what it was. The tourist industry will slowly rise from the ashes in 2023, or 2024, and maybe in 5 to 10 years, it will start to look a bit like the old place we knew. I think that a lot of the smaller businesses will be gone, and only a few of the hotel chains, that have very deep pockets in the back ground may survive. Do not forget that Thailand is s tropical country where many of the worlds tourist like to go in the Winter months to escape the cold climate of the northern countries. Or in the case of the Aussies, to escape the hot hot Summer time. Once the COVID pandemic is finally over, this situation will be why Thailand will once again become one of the Tourist destinations. By 2025 I think the tourist industry will be well on its way to a partial recovery. Geezer
  2. Actually my Thai family is just trying to keep me safe from COVID, but thanks for your comment. 2 of my Thai relatives have dies do far, and even they will not be going to the funeral as the ones who died contracted COVID Just so you know some of my situation. What only 389 posts, Newby... Geezer
  3. So 30 million doses arrive at the Bangkok airport, 20 million get delivered to the vaccination sites, and 10 million, uh, err, ummm, went missing somehow. Is that sort of Thai logic> Just asking. Geezer
  4. If anybody believes any official number of deaths from COVID, you are truly mistaken. Far more people have died all over the world, than what has been counted. This includes Sweden, Canada, USA, Russia, Europe, China, the ME, India, South America, Central America, and likely Asia, and Africa. Maybe Indonesia has reported closer to the actual number, but I believe that almost every country has had COVID deaths, that were classed as something else. I hope that the doctor is right, and of course with most people in Asia who like to flaunt most rules, well lock down to them does not apply, does it? Carry on. Geezer
  5. I think that mostly people with family in Thailand are the ones travelling to there at present. I guess a few desperate tourists who just can not wait to see the tropics may travel to Thailand in the High season after October. My Thai family tells me to stay away until October of 2022, or better October of 2023. They are hoping that the variants will have died off, as well as the original COVID virus strain. I agree 100 hundred percent. Looks like another cold Canadian Winter for me this year. Geezer
  6. Well if people can trust Bitcoin, they surely can trust the baht. Same as people trust the USA dollar, from a country that is trillions and trillions in debt. Geezer
  7. Maybe by November of 2022, most thai residents will have been vaccinated, and some businesses will be open. I sure do not want to go and see any ghost towns, and that is what a lot of Thailand is looking like these days. Nor do I want to face the present fees and rules, and chances of having to quarantine for 2 weeks. Geezer
  8. Why test, test , test, without vaccinate at the same time? Wondering... Geezer
  9. Three of my relatives did this test and tested positive, they then paid money to get a different test and 3 days later one of them died. The other two are at home sick, as there are no hospital beds available at the hospitals. We do not expect that they both will survive, as the Mom is 90. Vaccines would have been a lot better, but the Thai government insisted in not having vaccines available, except for the Chinese version. Now it is too late for them. Disgusting!!! Geezer
  10. I have no sympathy that these people got infected with the virus. Getting together in groups is still dangerous. I have 3 relatives in Bangkok who caught COVID. One has died, and the other 2 are in their home, as there is no room for them in any hospital. One of them is on oxygen, and will likely die at home as she is very old. Her son may survive as he had his 2 shots and is not too sick feeling. They were all trying their best not to get infected, but the Delta variant is so contagious, and unfortunately who ever was shopping may have caught the virus at a food store or market. Other relatives have to ride the BTS every day to get to work and they are very scared that they will also catch COVID and hope that they can get the vaccination soon. Until the pandemic is truly over, people should stay cautious. Geezer
  11. The blue collar workers in Thailand get such low wages that only migrants who are willing to live in horrible conditions, are willing to come to Thailand to work for the pathetic wages that they get. Posters on this forum should really go out and talk to the workers, oh sorry I guess you would have to learn to speak Thai to do that. I am glad that my Thai relatives are lucky enough to have better paying jobs, but they do work hard to get the money that they earn. If the construction companies gave a living wage to the workers, then maybe more Thais would work in the industry. Just saying. Geezer
  12. I sure hope that Thailand does not have a new wave like the USA is getting. Can you imagine over 100 thousand new cases in a day. The people from 50 and under who have not been vaccinated will likely be the ones getting sick, and I am wondering just how many will start dying soon? It may make some of the anti vaxxers think again of just how bullet proof they are with the COVID virus. Today the fully vaccinated Americans are being allowed to enter Canada by land, as well as by air. I would like to go to Thailand this Winter, but will wait a year to be sure that the people of Thailand have mostly had at least one shot of some kind of vaccine by then. I guess by November more people will be vaccinated, and hopefully the good vaccines have arrived and have been used by Thais and expats alike. Geezer
  13. It is so sad that many people in Thailand, are willing to get any of the good vaccines for the COVID virus, but in North America, there are so many people who still will not willingly get the vaccines offered. I even have an educated relative, who is in his 40s, and he thinks the virus is just another flu, so he refuses to get a vaccine. I have asked his wife and their oldest child to go and get vaccinated. His brain washed mind is such that he believes only what information he gets from the computer. He thinks that the TV and news on the radio is all fake. If he gets the Delta variant that is raging across Canada, I will not feel sorry for him if he dies. I will however feel sorry for his wife and children. So far I have had several relatives and friends die from COVID, so I am not sympathetic to people who decide to not get some protection. Geezer
  14. Unless Thailand bars unvaccinated children from coming to the country, the Phuket sand trap is just that. Already a couple of unvaccinated kids who were COVID carriers came in with their mom, who also became infected. How stupid it was of Thailand to let anyone into the country who did not get vaccinated. Very simple math involved here. I am glad that I have not gotten the travel bug, and I will not be travelling anywhere, as long as there are unvaccinated people travelling anywhere in the world. Money and greed is one thing, but Stupidity is quite another. Geezer
  15. Considering how many COVID cases are still happening in the USA, this guy took the gamble and lost. Time at the airport in the USA, a long time in the air on more than one airliner, time in a stop over airport, lots of risk involved. This is my one big reason for not being anxious to travel anywhere, for now. He is in Phuket, yes? If so he will be able to go to the beach after he is out of the ASQ and then can holiday or what ever. Too bad for his drama. Geezer
  16. For the anti maskers on this forum, the cheap masks will protect others from you. That is if you have a could or flu, or even COVID, your spittle from a cough or sneeze will stay in your mask and not reach other people. To sway a mask is useless is to show a general ignorance, after this long time that the COVID virus has been among us all. It would be nice if the husband can limit his gambling and take better care of himself and have some money for his future. Geezer
  17. I just learned today that my 2 old Thai relatives have not been vaccinated and have contracted COVID. Another Thai relative who has had his 2 shots has also gotten COVID, and I am hoping that he will survive. I doubt that the 2 older relatives will as they already had health problems. I have had one of my good friends in Canada just die of COVID, and am still very cautious when I am around other people. I do hope that the Delta, or Indian variant does not kill too many people. Good Luck to you all. Geezer
  18. I thought the virus numbers were bad in Thailand until yesterday when I heard on the radio that the USA has had over 100 thousand per day. Wow, I will not go to the USA for as long as the people have not all been vaccinated, and I hear that there are still way too many that still will not get vaccinated. I even have a younger educated relative, who has been brain washed and will not take the jab. He does not believe any news except what he reads on his computer. He thinks the local radio and TV stations are all putting out fake news. I hope that all of you can get your AZ, Moderna, Pfizer, or J and J shots soon. Geezer
  19. Thank the English for the porn in a Thai name just listen how the Brits talk. air is aihhra. If you actually read the Thai language, you would see that. in England porn is pronounced pawn. Like a chess pawn. and yes my Thai wife has porn in her translated to English name. Geezer
