The thing I am surprised that no one is talking about is the fact that the proposed manufacture of the AZ vaccine in Thailand is slated primarily for export and not for use in Thailand,  "on a non-profit basis to Thailand"

"AstraZeneca which planned to manufacture 200 million vaccine doses a year in Pathum Thani. Only a small faction of those doses would remain in Thailand with the rest destined for export."

I wonder where, does it begin with C ?

In Hong Kong Sinovax is free to all residence there but no one is taking up the free offer of this Vaccine. If you wanty the Phizer or Astragenica Vaccine you have to pay for it and is available from all private practices and Medica Clinics.

What does that tell you about trusting China ?  Not even the HK Chinese trust the Chinese.......

i think its gone above AZ .its a govt issue,uk and eu have tried to loosen the hold of the elites to a small extent but this sudden onrush of heavy oppression has turned the corner for the brits, they are the govt and will be in close communication with the company AZ and of course the university,i hope many ex thai alumni are keeping their old classmates and present classmates up to date on the regimes actions so..... students at the uni wont let this pass.the EU unfortunately is another story as it snuggles up in bed with Xi and his boys.oxford though and the people that attended that uni have a hell of a lot of clout, every brit PM has gone to oxbridge.most cabinet members too.i was surprised they picked thailand in the 1st place and now with the manufacturing companys pedigree we will see the uni say no,they have no choice really.pressure must be mounting by the day.china vacc ummmm no thanks.looks like thailand will have to buy it.where from? AZ looks the best bet still.price and efficiacy.i t is good on the uk mutation too, many other mutations will follow tis the nature of the beast.lets see how that goes but they can re key it very quickly so alls not lost we dont have to start again from scratch.they seem to think that everyones besotted with money ,total control, feudal political system and the fact they can do exactly as they wish, total lack of a moral compass.sounds like china!

As usual they're probably scared the Thais will copy it, flog it for loads more and of course give it to China.....  This is a great opportunity to reel in the boys in government with all the farang bashing that's been going on for years..... Them "Dirty Farangs" have got Anutin and his mates by their short and curlys.......   and rightly so...... Karma......

  4. I've taken this from a previous post from the Nation......... Hopefully some higher help might be Thailands saviour amidst all the political wrangling........

On Monday, Thanathorn went on Facebook Live to slam the government for its tardiness in providing Covid-19 vaccines and pointed out that the company – Siam Bioscience – tasked with manufacturing the vaccine locally is owned by the King.

It surely will, I understand thais have a lot of personal debt and when they start losing cars and motorbikes and are still hungry ? ?

That's why they enforced the lockdown on the country with all its social restrictions because it was getting nasty before the C19, after a few months of starvation and selling everything just to survive they'll need more than the threat of the Army to keep hold........   Oh yes....... A day of reckoning is on its way........

    Eh?

Thailand was the destination for backpackers with no money and no insurance for decades.

As a former offshore worker myself, to be ranking ourselves above other visitors to the LOS is quite frankly absurd, given many of us are losers ourselves; alcoholics, sexual deviants, immoral cowards, unfaithful to wives etc.

Dead right, i've met some of the worst specimens of humanity offshore and i've worked for some pretty high profile outfits........ Judging backpackers and travellers as harshly as that is very sad indeed....... When i first came to Thailand it was the hippies and the backpackers that opened the place up......  Thailand was a very poor country back then........ Sadly lots of people have forgotten this or were not there to see it.....

You tell me , how can anybody abscond from a Thai hospital without paying the bill, they will keep your passport to begin with. I have been in hospital 4 times  but not a 'snowballs chance in hell' of not paying.

Exactly, even when i was sparked out last time in Bumrungrad they'd been through my pockets and found the visa card in my wallet....Checked the date and Bingo !   300 quid for fifteen stitches, and the worst part i could of done a better job blindfolded.......

  8. I posted this on Wednesday........ I might of missed my vocation..... tea leaf reader !

Looking at the way these figures are doing somersaults in TAT fashion i would predict that miraculously this virus vanishes at just about the same time that the people running show realize that the ship's just about to sink with all hands. The next and life saving move for the country will be to fling the doors open wide and get all those people back that immigration drove out over the last few years, after all, if there's no tourists there's no money, and if there's no money........ Then there's no honey......

  9. Typical Thailand. The woman's just had an accident and she's been surrounded by God knows what they are, coppers or toll booth monitors and the attitude of them is that of who's to blame ?   She should of been sat down and asked if she was ok ?  Who in their right minds thinks she did that on purpose ?    Lucky it wasn't James Hunt, he would of laid the lot of them out !   A severe lack of common sense when dealing with an accident and an individual who's probably in shock......

I agree.  And, if you took those 18 trips in 2010 they would have been counted the same way then as they were counted in 2019.  2010 Thailand counted 15 million visitors.  2019, 39 million.  The numbers show a steady rise except for 2014, the year of the coup.  I think if TAT wanted to cook the books they could have done so in 2014 to also show a rise from 2013 but, instead, they published the number showing arrivals dropped.

I always find it laughable when posters claim tourism was declining for years even before covid.   I live in Pattaya and even just by observation you could see that wasn't the case.  But, the concrete proof was also there--in all the very many new additions to the city--topped off with the massive Terminal 21.  When I arrived in 2010 (and was counted), Pattaya had grown enough with tourism to be able to support a Central Festival.  By 2019, it could add T21 and much more to the mix.

I live in Bkk, it's been on its knees the last three years now and if i was to believe figures released in Thailand then i would add a little more water to my whisky.......  Thailand's losing all it's character and if a shopping mall is progress then i would suggest a move to Singapore, Hong Kong or even Shanghai........   I think you might want to find out how many new condos have been built that have been empty for years .......

  12. This is a sad case of course and i'm glad something was done for man.  Nobody has yet mentioned the glaring fact that if the governments policy of getting rid of Farangs wasn't interupted by the C19 scourge then most farangs on here and indeed Thailand would of been writing on his forum from anywhere else but Thailand.  Remember the governments plan was to flood the country with Chinese and to hell with those "Dirty farangs"  (Anutins words) but a sentiment i believe shared by many in the government, the question is now, when the threat is over will the government return to making what's left of the farangs jump through all the hoops they can think of until Thailand's finally cleansed, then resort back to the old plan of flooding the place with Chinese...... I personally thought the C19 test for visa application was the fourth ace in the hand and such a great way to expel certain individuals to arrive at their desired plan of a farang free country.   This government and their policies have caused a lot of grief for many people and i can see why people both farangs and Thais are in such desperate circumstances that they might consider something as drastic as suicide.......  Personally unless something happens with the present individuals in charge then i seriously think every farangs days are numbered in this country, regardless of how many hoops you jump through........  I'm praying for a change of management as it seems the only way of returning Thailand to the once happy country that it was......

I don't think the doctor has actually read the report of the 23 death in Norway,  the Norwegian Authorities have said 23 elderly and frail people who received the vaccine have passed away, BUT there is no evidence at this stage, that it is because of the vaccine and further test are to be conducted,,  I personally think the answer is in the question.. "old and frail"

And think the Thai Government is useing this as another excuse, as they have been pussy footing about over obtain the vaccine, will start in February, then June, then more will be vaccinated in 2022,  my opinion Thailand hasn't got the funds to purchase vaccine... ????

They've used this excuse to BUY the vaccine they've been ordered to use from big brother..... 5% off next Submarine purchase......
