So your payment to the hospital for your medical treatment you just received is a tax and not a payment for a service, hmmm you live in a bubble. I guess any payments you make for services such as gas, propane etc...are taxes because you must have them in order to get around, or if on foot the payments to the MRT, BTS, and Taxi's are a tax, or the entry fee into a National Park or other location is a tax....hmmm you must get taxed to death.

Your view and mine are different obviously from the written words and what actually occurs. If you say the boots on the ground do not have to do what's listed and the information about the reason the extension came about which I posted and is verified in the Thai imm8gration letter is not correct, then I guess we can stop debating because we will never agree on this. If you could please direct me to the extension being given where folks needed approval letters from their embassies, or was that a misnomer and bad information I had obtained at one point. My only complaint is this, was there not a more appropriate type of Visa that could have been obtained other than the Covid extensions had the Covid extension not existed? From what I remember the Covid extensions were supposed to be for those that could not travel back out of the country to their homes because of the Covid Closures and needed letters from their embassy's or consulate stating such. With the world being open now for awhile could these folks not have left and returned on a Tourist Visa. Sure you played the game the way Thailand allowed, but was there not another Visa you or the others could have obtained instead of the one you were allowed to have because of the Covid situation? Happy it met your needs but then many were forced to leave awhile ago, and then returned with a tourist visa or such. I accept that it was allowed and is still allowed in some cases. A neighbor here left the country in March of 2020, and it took him 20 months to return based upon the closures.

2 years of staying here on a Covid Visa is telling me he is under 50, Working as a Digital Nomad, and couldn't care less about staying legally in the country. He should be applying for a single entry or a multiple entry Tourist Visa from outside of the country and playing he game the right way. Sounds like he obtained the Covid Visa's in his favor by using the system, just like those who use to do border hops.

I insure from the US as well, so your point is moot. I am double insured, no out of picket costs at all. This scheme is for tourist insurance they want to make eryone pay for, I get that, it's the fact that most on here are not tourists and it will not cover us, so we will be throwing money into someone else's pockets. It is the principle of it that you just don't get... It is not a tax.
