  1. This morning TNN 16 just had a puff piece on the flooding in BKK and showed the new Governor inspecting locations. One concern he had was on the elevated freeways, and another in the tunnels which become flooded out. He also wanted to know why certain sections of the elevated highways had huge dips in them which fill up with water. Well I have an answer for that, engineering failures.....nothing is straight in this country and roads have telephone poles, and power poles right at the edges.........
  2. Here in BKK we do have bicycle lanes on the bigger streets but cars use them to drive in as well as motorcycles and so the Bicycles use the sidewalks, and then the lazy motorbike riders who do not want to be inconvenienced by having to drive a few 1000 meters further they ride the wrong way. If the flipping police would do their jobs then traffic would be less of an issue and accidents reduced as well.
  3. +1 on this sentiment, only need to add in that last evening the GF and I almost became flattened by a moto taxi driver riding on the sidewalk (Foot Path), and a few seconds later by a grab delivery rider, and they were driving the wrong way even on the sidewalk......but wait for it.....this was all done in front of the RTP running the traffic box at Rama 4 rd, and Sathorn Thai Rd.....in plain view as the police officer standing in the lane watched and did nothing......
  4. Maybe they went to tell him suspended is SUSPENDED and the acting PM is now also the Defense Minister.....
  5. Didn't Prayut and his ilk say they would ensure Bangkok did not flood again? or was I blind back in 2016 when we had this OP https://aseannow.com/topic/926649-pm-prayut-vows-to-overhaul-bangkoks-drainage-system/
  6. I submitted a pension letter from my pension program which shows the amount per month I receive and that it is a lifetime defined benefit pension which never decreases. I also supplied them with all of my passport information and copies of all pages and stamps including my current extension of stay. Remember this was for the document review before the LTR goes live tomorrow, so I was pretty shocked to see the email indicating Fonal Approval with the LTRWP number listed and the information I posted above. I never resubmitted a health Insurance document, but in my initial email I gave them all of the policy information, number for the policy and who the carrier is. I wonder if they did not contact PCH or maybe they have access to the same database immigration has which is the insurance database and they could see the information there. Hopefully I get another email with a date to show up at BOI for the certificate with the LTR number to be placed in my passport before I go to immigration at Chaeng Wattana for the first actual 5 year visa
  7. In my view, and again it is my view, the DOJ had a feeling based upon exchanges of words between camps that Trump would try the special master angle, and so they were strongly prepared to slam him and his lawyers hard, which this filing does.
  8. The only places that mask wearing is still mandatory I have found seems to be inside Government buildings. Inside DLT today masks were mandatory. As a foreigner was entering the physical testing location he was told to put his mask on correctly and not under his nose. Using the MRT today I would say 99% were wearing masks and inside Termina 21 the only ones not wearing masks appeared to be tourists.
  9. This 300 Baht is not a tax, it is a specific amount for Tourist Insurance, why is everyone so blind. If it was just raising taxes on entry then I would be the last to go out on a limb, but it is for a service, a service some of us who would pay it are ineligible for.
  10. No I got it full force, my retort was satirical as well.....
  11. More bad news as seen through MSM eyes. @Longwood50will not like the article if he bothers to read it and see the actual photos of items found...very damning especially when items were found in Trumps personal desk mixed with his own papers. It is like finding the smoking gun.... Legal Experts Say Late-Night DOJ Filing Is Damning For Trump (msn.com) The 36-page brief included an image of some of the documents discovered when the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month, and counters many of the claims made by Trump’s attorneys. “This factual recitation has him dead to rights, there’s no question about it,” conservative attorney George Conway said on CNN. Conway, a longtime Trump critic despite his marriage to Kellyanne Conway, who served in the Trump White House, added that the filing shows the former president is “guilty as sin”:
  12. The only viable defense Trump has is to point the finger at someone else, and state those are not my pants, even though he was wearing them....oh wait that is what many of the drug arrestees tried when we arrested them, and then tried to use the defense in court. For Trump to try and say someone else planted the TS Classified materials in his house in a locked room, where he had told the National Archives where he stored items. Will just open up a can of worms which Trump does not want. If and when a case is made and he is charged, he will start throwing everyone and anyone under the bus to save his own skin. Many of his republican allies have started to move away from him based upon his last outbursts. It is actual sad to see someone who was a president to act like a down and out individual. Once someone wields certain power they can never become normal again, and is why many remove themselves from the public eye, but not The Donald.....
  13. Nah they will just takeover a boat and become dog pirates.......arf ye matey
  14. Buying a lift to attach to the side of my penthouse unit on the 45th floor, so I can lift up my boat and store it on the balcony. Then I can go and come as I need navigating the waterways of BKK.
  15. As always he is deflecting instead of facing facts.
  16. McGeorge School of Law, Sacramento, CA. You want my CA. BAR number also., obtained it in 2005 after passing my BAR Exam. It doesn't matter to you because you know nothing of law, ethics or accountability something the Donald has none of. My background is such that I also owned an investigations firm which I closed during Covid and was licensed out of Nevada as an LLC.
  17. you are exactly correct, I am not arguing over how cheap it is I am just arguing over who gets the use of it over those that pay for it and do not.
  18. This is not an airport tax now is it, it is a health insurance product for 300 baht.......My Flights in and out of Thailand I pay airport taxes on, no where do I pay a fee for tourist insurance to visit the US, The UK, Switzerland etc....
  19. You still miss the point. 300 Baht is being paid for a product Insurance, but those who live here, work here, or pay into a insurance plan and live here long term obtain no benefit, read the word benefit.....I couldn't care less that it's 300 or 3 million, it is the principal of it. Not everyone obtains a free entry into Thailand either. The other countries are a deflection on your part. Thailand charges room tax, VAT etc... for everything as well and there are fee's paid for airfare in Thailand as well. You just do not see the issue because your blind to the point. If I was a passenger on a flight arriving and was a tourist I would love the fact that I had 500k worth of insurance I only paid 300 baht for, and so if I stubbed my toes on the rocks at the beach then it is paid for. If I or anyone else who is a long term stayer, worker bee or so on stubs our toes on the rocks then we ourselves, our insurance pays, not the 300 baht tourist scheme. Why should I subsidize Thailand's tourist insurance scheme if it does not assist me in any way shape or form.......your looking at it from it's only 300 baht but when you x's that by 4 million it adds up, and with a new LTR Visa where I can fly in and out of the country as many times as I want, yet I still have to have 50K USD in insurance here in Thailand, how can I use the insurance I am paying for at 300Thb a pop, if I travel in and out 12 times a year for a 1 week or a few day trip to Vietnam etc... I am not a true tourist and as such have to have my own insurance, much like a tourist should have travel insurance which covers them....
  20. But that's for your visa not insurance.....
  21. All smoke drifting from the site is being collected in balloons to be sold on Khao San Road.
  22. Just received a new e-mail indicating my LTR for Wealthy Pensioner has Final approval. I was given a number which started with the letters LTRWP with 8 numbers following. The e-mail indicated this: "please make an appointment to seal the number" Best regards, The Board of Investment of Thailand There was an individual email account listed which was a Thai name with a Gmail account. I emailed the name to Inquire when and where this number could be sealed in my passport. Hopefully this was not a scam e-mail like folks received after applying for Thai Pass as the email it originated from was this.
  23. Do you get a service from the UK for your donation or is it a tax Sandy. Here the 300 thb gives a TOURIST insurance coverage but expats and workers who have Insurance get nothing out of the scheme.
  24. A tax is different than a fee. This one gives the end user insurance coverage which we as expats or employees here in Thailand can not use. Can you not see this? Sure it's only 300 baht, but we get no use from it. I would be better served flushing the money down the toilet.
  25. It's the point that matters. They also have Thai insurance already through the SS and WP, can't you see that.....
