So,  i can come and go as much as i like until June 2019 without a re-entry permit, as long as i return within that one year period...if i return on the last day before expiry, i will be granted another "extra" year, but during that year i will need a re-entry permit each time i leave...otherwise i lose my O-A visa...

i do appreciate your detailed info?

    thanks much!!!

You’re welcome!  And..... reentry permits come in two varieties, single entry and multiple entry.  If you plan to leave more than once during that “extra year” or if you believe there is a chance you might leave more than one time, get the multiple re entry permit.  It will save you from attending to purchasing a second single entry reentry permit by going back to immigration or attending to the purchase of the permit at the airport.  Check thoroughly if you decide to get the permit on departure at the airport to determine where and how, etc....  personally I prefer to get mine at the immigration office simply because I don’t want to put anything to chance as I’m leaving the country.  Good luck!

  2. The tortuous process in Chiang Mai to obtain an extension of stay suggests that you may best be served by using an agent.  Otherwise, plan on showing up at or before 2AM to gain a seat in the line that will eventually allow you to get a queue number for your extension.  Even then, there are no guarantees that you will be “early enough” for success.  Some consider agents to be expensive.  I’d rather pay for the service than subject myself, or a paid “seat sitter” to the ordeal.  But, as always....  “Up to you!”

  3. LEARN ABOUT REENTRY PERMITS AND HOW THEY WORK.....Something more for you to consider and understand clearly....and this may seem redundant to you but ...... be sure you understand when your visa expires. E.g. the “enter before date”.... and do not confuse that with the extension you receive at the last time you enter before that “enter before date”..     whenever you leave the country after the “enter before date” which is in your case, apparently, in June 2019.....  be sure you first have a re-entry permit stamped in your passport.  If you leave Thailand and return on the day before your “enter before date”you will be granted permission to stay for another year.  HOWEVER....  if you leave the country WITHOUT a re-entry permit during that “extra” one year period, and you return to Thailand during that same “extra year”  you will not be granted permission to stay until the end of that “extra” year.  Leaving without the re entry permit negates your permission to stay for that extended period of time and you will have to start all over again, from the beginning.  Sorry to be so pedantic....but it’s worth understanding clearly.

  4. It would be VERY unwise of you to make any comments to him that could lead to his taking steps for retribution.  Do NOTHING on the internet to upset him.  Your efforts to do so would become nothing but actionable under Thai law.  I suggest that you block him, as planned, but also consider changing your Facebook “name” as a  second level of security.  Dropping out of his sight with his being completely unable to track you down is, IMHO, the best way to end this fiasco.  Block him from your phone or better yet, get a new number.  Does he have your email address?  Take that into consideration too as you ponder next steps.Keep that copy of his Thai ID.  Retain it in more than one place so you have zero chance of losing it.  NEVER destroy your record of it.              I came to Thailand about 15 years ago looking for a gay relationship.  I found someone who was attractive and was attracted to me.  He was in college at the time.  We met several times over a long period before I began considering moving to Thailand.  He was sweet, unassuming, without demands for cash. We fell in love.  He came to the USA and obtained his Masters degree in Business Administration there.  We were later married in San Francisco.  A few years later we came back to Thailand, bought a condo and will soon celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary.  All of this is simply to say that there ARE Thai guys out there who are self sufficient and looking for love.  Keep looking.  Be patient. You will find someone better!

  5. Others have mentioned transiting in the airport at the first stop.  Reinforce that he should not exit the secure area and that he must remain in the transit area.  If he travels via Tokyo, he will have to go through a security check point, not immigration...just security...before he moves to the airline gate area.  Maybe the same in other airports, not sure.

Oh dear.  Sued for self-dealing and accused of using the charity for corporate & political interests, so what do they do?  They prove the Attorney General's point by putting out a response from their corporate e-mail account.

Also, the org gave away more money that it received?  Wouldn't that mean it's deep in debt now?

Furthermore, Ivanka & Eric Trump violated numerous laws in their management of the org.  Maybe they should be separated from their families and detained in a tent city until we can get them arraigned.

...or perhaps the re-purposed Walmart where children are being held away from their parents.  Ya, Walmart,  a better place for the Trump kids.

Now I don't have any Central Air A/Cs, but some folks in my village do (non-inverter types) and I walk by several of the homes daily when walking my dog.   And one thing I can say for sure the Central Air "outdoor" units (i.e., condensers/compressor) are just as loud as any other manufacturer's "non-inverter" type unit which I hear regularly in my walks around the village where I get to hear all makes and models....Mitsubitshi, Daikin, York, Panasonic, LG, etc.  Can't speak to how quiet the inside unit/evaporator is; nor there overall reliability.

One neighbor has a new Central Air non-inverter type and I would have say its outside unit is the loudest on the soi block.   But maybe it's just it's location...how it possibly reflects sound off the house wall seems to make it loud.  . Every time I walk by it, I think to myself, Man, that's a loud A/C.

If a person lives close to their neighbors how loud the outside unit might want to be a consideration.  All too often folks only concentrate on how quiet the inside unit portion is.

Just a quick note about our Daikin inverter outside units.....they make VERY little noise and we hardly know they’re running except when you walk past them and feel the warm air coming from them....  Our neighbors never complain.  Just sayin....   hope the OP finds what he’s looking for.....  it’s not always an easy choice.

  8. Daikin inverter units have served me exceptionally well.  I installed them in my Bangkok condo and later, in my new house in Chiang Mai.  They offer super

quiet operation and ease of cleaning for inside filters.  I use the SMART models.  They have motion sensors that, when switched on, will allow temps to rise 2degrees when no one is in the room, returning to the lower preset temperature  when motion is detected.  This option can be switched off very easily with the hand held remote....in case you decide not to use it...like when sleeping and no one is moving in the room, allowing a constant temp.  I shopped around until I found the best price...from an independent Installer who reps Daikin and others, too.  HomePro was always higher in price.  Recommend properly sizing the unit to avoid under powering and overpowering the rooms each of which has its own disadvantages; e.g., constant running or lack of dehumidification.  No matter what brand you ultimately choose, inverters offer the MOST efficient use of electricity.

  9. MSG may also exacerbate BPH. If you have an enlarged prostate msg may create additional difficulties or increase the severity of ones symptoms.  Best to avoid if you have BPH.

  10. There a lots of places available through agents.  Perhaps contacting one or two ( google search)  and letting them know what you're looking for.  I do have one recommendation however.....  stay away from Riverside Condo in Nong Hoi.  The building is old and not well maintained.  Lots of noise from owners renovating old units.  Rats, too.  The pigeon problem on the balconies is also a very big issue.

  11. Looking at this as a GM myself...... I proffer that your "partner" is more of a part time companion who is less interested in developing a long term relationship and more interested in himself.  There are many men out there looking for a long term partner.  IMHO it's time to move on gracefully....  Best of luck to you.

  12. I think you would be ill advised to invest in such a venture.  What are your expectations for return of investment?  What legal standing would you have to recoup your investment if it goes sideways.  Does your BIL have property which he could mortgage to raise funds to invest?  If so, and he is not willing to do that, I would steer clear.  If he has no net worth then, well, I guess that speaks for itself.

If you have no expectations for a return, please protect yourself from any possible downsides by keeping your name, signatures, and all connections (even through marriage) as far away as possible. from this transaction.

Ask yourself this question: " If a bank would not invest in this type of venture, why should I?"
