  1. If you mean cannabis it encourages peace and quiet as opposed to alcohol which encourages aggression and noise.
  2. 40 years with my Thai partner, married for 33 of those years. I'm now 81, she's 66. Still very happy and active together and, most importantly, we are, and always have been, very good friends.
  3. Best to check the odds being offered by bookmakers, not the polls. They are giving Trump a 50/50 chance of winning the presidential election if he is nominated by the Republican party.
  4. Thai banks definitely not immune, just as they were not immune in 1997/8 and 2008.
  5. In over 40 years I've been seriously conned once, in a business deal which, in hindsight, I was stupid to get involved in. However, foreigners being charged more than Thais for taxis, entry fees, accomodation etc etc has never bothered me. Only small money, not worth worrying about.
  6. No need to restrict yourself to 7 elevens. You can buy beer pretty much anywhere in southern Thailand, in shops, in markets, in hotels, in bars, in convenience stores etc etc...
  7. Nobody should be criticised for wearing a mask if they want to.
  8. In Mandarin it is ping pong, sometimes ping pang. Why should it be called table tennis ?
  9. Whatever the true story behind this is the Danish guy is a drunken slob who lets all westerners down with this kind of behaviour.

  11. I agree. Bang Kaews are the best guard dogs I have ever had. You need to be a bit careful when friends visit. Bang Kaews don't like people they don't know. If you, sadly, don't like dogs consider geese. They make one hell of a noise when strangers appear.
  12. The emphasis is more on the need for a UK address, with some supporting documents such as utility bills, NHS cards etc. In the name of the account holder. Less emphasis is placed on where the account holder is actually located. Basically many UK banks do not want account holders using overseas addresses on their books.
  13. You're missing the point. I repeat, many countries charge tourists, visitors and non-residents more than residents. This not only applies to education but, for example, to hotels, services, entertainment etc. booked in advance in package deals,
  14. Sounds to me you need to go in person to sort it out.
  15. If such small money issues upset you go and live somewhere else. Many, many countries apply dual pricing eg the UK universities charge foreign students fees at least 4 times higher than local students.
  16. You appear to be a rude and intrusive loudmouth. I would suggest you take a good look at yourself, identify your faults, and thereafter try to behave better.
  17. Regarding Covid, Johnson's first reaction was to go for herd immunity, not lockdowns. He changed his mind, and now the mess he is in, and most Brits, is the result.
  18. Not very smart to take young children to a beach well known for monkey attacks.
  19. An American friend who is a lifelong supporter of the Democrat Party fears that if Trump is arrested it will guarantee him public support and a win come election time.
  20. All of this could have beem avoided if you had applied much earlier for a new passport. Personally I have always renewed a year earlier than the expiry date. In your son's case maybe obtain a temporary passport to get over the immediate problem.
  21. Alvin Bragg is a lifelong Democratic Party supporter and part-time activist. He is almost certain to indict Trump.
