  1. If it was me I wouldn't be on here asking whose responsibility it is. I would be banging on the landlords door, informing them I was getting the exterminators in for the vermin and what was she prepared to do about it, and rapido! I would not be able to sleep if I had those things anywhere near my house, disgusting creatures they are.
  2. Or Ophthalmologists that promote laser surgery that wear glasses!
  3. It's just a desperate attempt to try and swing the senate to keep the old guard in power. My god, the guy can hardly stand up unaided and often appears ' three sheets to the wind ' in interviews. He looks to me ' three sandwiches short of a picnic ' He's their best last hope with Prayuts miserable showing at the polls. Of course they will be desperate to have a clown like this in power, they don't want questions and investigations into how they have managed to make such a giant mess of this country over the last 9 years. All the laws that Prayut introduced such as stacking both houses of government with his lackeys and generals and all the disgusting policies he put forward and made law ' on the nod 'need dismantling. Let's face it, some of the first laws that they pass are to give themselves ' immunity from prosecution ' for when they are ousted from power. The entire Thai system of government is just a complete ' basket case '
  4. Politicians - the biggest liars on the planet! Full of lies, dual standards and self entitlement, .....................Boris Johnson being a classic example!
  5. Thank you, this was the kind of information I was seeking.
  6. Yes, thanks a lot, I am aware of the above following an email from Pacific Prime explaining all this. My main worry was people saying they had difficulties with Pacific Cross when they made a claim.
  7. Has any other board members who insure with Pacific Cross had problems when they have made a claim? I was told they were a popular company and very competitive for expats and had a good name. I have been with them a while but granted, I have never made a claim.
  8. You talk nonsense. I had no idea at 25 years old that I would end up in Thailand. I did save and have substantial assets in Thailand and the UK. However, that has nothing to do with this thread. Up until now, I have always used insurance companies for health insurance since I have lived here. What I am saying is that now I have hit 61 they are going up at a rapid rate. No, as a reasonably healthy individual on the whole, I didn't think about health insurance premiums too much but I am doing now. I did not give it much thought as a 25 year old young man and most of my circle of friends at that age, do not really think about life at 61! Saving for the future and building assets is part of life, it was for me as a young businessman as is looking after both a UK family and a Thai family. Nobody on this board no matter how much money they have wants to get hit with a disaster and end up with a bill of millions of baht because they didn't have insurance. So, it's a calculated risk. Some feel they can jump on a plane and fly back to their country of origin, but you cannot do that if you have a severe road accident or say, a brain aneurysm, which a friend of mine suffered in Pattaya at the age of 65.
  9. Have a look at this place on Klong Prao beach. It's bang on the beach with multi swimming pools, great food, firework displays and shows, resident Filipino band, Good food high quality bungalows. https://www.agoda.com/koh-chang-paradise-resort/hotel/koh-chang-th.html?checkIn=2023-07-09&los=1&adults=2&rooms=1&travellerType=1
  10. Good luck with educating these lot up in Isaarn, many can't even read or write, let alone string a sentence together. And a great many young ones are simply not interested whatsoever in work. Effective laws? How can that be achieved with a Police Force rotten to the core.
  11. Well, Thailand isn't big on helping people rehabilitate or get over their addictions, so let's just make an example of these two and sling them where they belong!
  12. He doesn't want a prompt peaceful transition and he doesn't want to step down. The next thing we'll be having a convenient small explosive device go off in a dustbin in Bangkok., Then the military will use it as an excuse to step in and start blaming terrorists and everyone except themselves in an attempt to wreck any transfer of power. There are no limits these guys will go to to hang on to power. They can't even accept they have achieved nothing for the benefit of the country, politically or otherwise, since they seized power illegally way back in 2014.
  13. Dunno, But I would be interested to know myself as I am on one. Many board members think it wont happen as too difficult to implement.
  14. Thanks for taking the time to assist. What I have actually done in the last hour is ' bite the bullet ' and renew again through Pacific Cross. The broker from Pacific Prime explained that there are a number or pitfalls in moving. 1. Medical costs go up annually for medical procedures, that's just inflation I suppose. So, no matter where I go there will be an increase. 2. I would have to start afresh with a new company with all the form filling, seeking underwriter approval and going through all the paperwork again. 3. I have a few years history with them and all with no claims so she assures I won't find better elsewhere. 4. She says the jump was because I am now in the new band of 61-65 years old, but assures me it wont jump by 20% plus next year or until I am 65. 5.She mentioned downgrading my policy to reduce costs but I feel pretty well covered with 10 million per procedure so I';ll just leave it as it is. As i have said multiple times I use this insurance should a tragedy strike and for inpatient care only. Bumps and bangs in outpatients, I just pay myself. Thanks guys for all your comments and recommendations!
  15. Thanks, The only thing that concerns me a little bit is I am looking at getting new lenses inserted into my eyes to enable me to see near and far without glasses. However, in the photo on their webpage, four out of five surgeons featured are wearing glasses. Thanks for the tip, I will check out this hospital.
  16. I already did all that and that's why I was able to move to Thailand in my very early thirties and I still have income and properties in the UK. However, we were talking about self insuring regards health insurance, not life goals and planning. At least I was when I opened this thread.
  17. Yeah, Sounds ' fishy ' to me!
  18. Do they actually mean we have to physically hand the money over, it's not added to the ticket price? I suppose if it was added to ticket price, they wouldn't be able to make exceptions for work permits, border passes etc. Obviously this will mean queues again to pay this degusting money grabbing 300 baht, on top of queues for immigration entry?
  19. ATM fees go to the banks. Another scam. Border passes, I can only think of people transporting goods between Thailand and Cambodia, Thailand and Laos etc. or people that have business over the border and returning the same day as in , not tourists.
  20. 19-25 would have been a non starter considering I am British and we had the NHS. Of course we would have given no attention at all to private or self insurance when our hospital costs were free
  21. Another load of people with little to do with themselves, so feign outrage to get a bit of attention and their faces on the local news. That'll keep the gossip mongers going for another week. Rebels without a cause!
