it's jealousy over young people getting long stay visas...

I have no jealousy, and I am contemplating getting one.

My issue, same as other long term expats is that once it gets abused, which it will, how swift and what sweeping changes will come into effect, changing the criteria in obtaining one.

If I was to get the soft power under medical reasons, I have the ability to prove, I need to get a medical procedure done by an ENT surgeon every 4–6 months, so it could work for me.

Leaving every six months? I already do that on retirement visa.

Well if you need to understand whats going on in America (about anyhting) from your perch in the Kop, I suggest www.realclearpolitics.com. As to January 6, as the trial date draws closer, more and more will be coming out. Watch because in the USA, everyhting comes out sooner or later.

    I'll stay here, thanks!

Heard enough about Trump for a lifetime.

Got it. Hes elected now so you Leftists would rather just shut us up. Censorship is the only weapon other than  violence you have, you cant convince anyone

You mean violence like Capitol Hill?

Fairly obvious how you have spent your time in Thailand, creating a blinkered view with everything under the same umbrella, completely ignoring what was said.

The OP is about temporary relationships, dating apps in a nutshell, but according to you they are only "prostitution apps" in Thailand. That falang mentality again.

Prostitutes date back centuries but it was the western prudes that attached a stigma. In biblical times goods were often used in payment for sexual favours, not much different to the ways in many countries.

You are talking a lot but not saying much.

Payment for goods and valuables by sexual services is the definition of prostitution.

    A temporary relationship?

You mean like the bigoted way ISIS and Muslim fighters got married ' for the night '  and divorced the day after, so they could bypass the laws on not having sex outside marriage!

Ridiculous, just call it what it is, no shame in it, unless you want to see it that way, but don't try putting lipstick on as pig.

And neither are the overwhelming majority of other nations potentially facing Trump's tariffs.

But when have facts mattered to some posters in this thread?

They don't allow the truth to get in the way of a good story.

Whats the diplomatic term for arschlecker as our German friends would say?

I wonder who else is gonna come crawling? The Mullahs? hey Melania the Mullahs are here, lets have a nice breakfast meeting, tell them we want bacon and egg on bagels.

Happy times for you then, time to look in the wardrobe and dig out the white uniform, pointy hat with eyelets and the cross to burn in the gardens of naysayers.

Nothing trendy about the name. It nothing more than the ignorance of some to put them all alongside rent boys.

There is no dispute that Thailand has, like every other country, many involved in prostitution, but there is also a great number of girls just trying to escape poverty. A foreign husband is a fairly common way out and bar scene was little more than the origin of  "dating apps", now widely used in the west.

In the UK, Wetherspoons have a "try before you buy" arrangement on real ale, nothing wrong with tourists taking a similar approach.

It's prostitution, plain and simple, no matter how you try to dress it up. Everyone can make an excuse for selling themselves, poverty usually being top of the list.

Lack of education is also another to limit a person's opportunities.

We hear this old chestnut also trotted out as an excuse for thefts, robberies, burglaries, citing poverty and poor childhoods, over here and in the West.

Regarding dating apps, they are more popular than ever in Thailand, especially for those who don't wish to stand on a stage and don a number.

Lastly, many of them forget that their reason was poverty or to help out family once they hit the lights of Pattaya, Bangkok and Phuket and soon find other vices to drain any money that they get.

All night partying, drinking until out of control, gambling and drugs to mention just a few.

The salute should go out to those who choose not to go down this route and work near their homes in menial jobs to keep themselves above water.

I had Comfy for a while not too bad although catch-up was a bit limited.

    Biggest problem was making payments.

Ended up using Moneygram which was expensive or Neteller not too bad once I set it up.

Bloke is in Kenya and I am not sure his English was up to scratch.

    You are right,

    They now take credit cards!

I got cheesed off with the Neteller nonsense.

I mainly just want Football, the other stuff I get elsewhere with Netflix, Amazon, and all that jazz.

  9. They can never simplify things, they are always harping on about protecting national sovereignty,

it's all jingoism. That's what it is.

Everything comes here with never ending caveats, only to be shelved because they can't agree.

Don't forget westerners, if you want to make full use of your newly acquired condo at 10 million baht plus, it will cost you an extra 35%

    I don't think I will bother.

Is Comfy easy to install on a smart tv or android box ? Does it get much buffering / freezing ?

I am same opinion as @bubblegum easy install, rarely buffers.

It has on occasions, but they all do. If it was frequent, I wouldn't be using it, as I am an avid football fan.

    I am on AIS.

Being non resident in Thailand means you can send as much as you want so long as it was profit from a year when you were non resident.

OK, understand from that point of view now.

However, it won't matter to me myself, as I won't be bringing any more large lumps of money as I did in the past.

As I have said in previous posts, I probably won't buy any more cars or big ticket items either whilst this rule remains.

Singapore is my go to alternative. Although it is expensive, everything in Singapore works, and best of all I can drink the tap water. My clothes will never smell like wet dog, and the likelihood of food poisoning is low. No cop shakedowns and people speak  English. medical care is top quality and there are building safety codes. I will be hiding out  in Singapore (or Japan) for Songkran 2025.

    I agree with you completely,

But I think two expensive alternatives.

I'm in Cambodia, got a 1 year multi entry business visa through an agent in Phnom Penh named 'call kim' - highly regarded - there's some other agents who are also highly regarded and likely many who are not.

1 year visa with express fee $500 in 1 day, you can get it cheaper but I just wanted it quick and it's 100% legit, I've left and returned to Cambodia a few times this year - when you come into the country there is no exit date, no 90 day bs and if you extend the visa you don't need to leave I believe....

I'm paying $700 a month rent - will keep the place for a full tear, so in US Dollars it's less than $10k for a full year before any incidentals like food and electricity, etc, and that's for me and the Mrs who I also purchased a 1 year business visa for - she's Thai and had no problem getting the same visa as me with the same agent.

Oh, i you want to live comfortably in any apartment you're going to need to buy a load of stuff like decent fridge, freezer, big TV, some furnishings, etc so I probably spent like another $5k on all that stuff as well - including a full office setup and powerful new computer which cost nearly $2k alone. But each to their own I guess.

I'm going to continue doing this for a few years, maybe 4 or 5 years and I will be checking out Siem Reap next year, who knows, maybe I'll move there.

Yes, I have a Cambodian visa myself, I got mine in Phnom Penn on the front riverside, and I also did the express method, as I go there on personal business stuff for myself.

But It looks like you are planning to stay there for reasons best known to yourself. I am not sure how that would go down with your Mrs, as Thais tend to miss home.

I actually prefer Siem Reap to Phnom Penn, but it's got to be PP if you want to get things done. Siem Reap has quite a long list of characters living there and a vibrant expat community.

It's not for me, nothing wrong with it, but I like to be on my own.

However, my previous post was about with associated costs of staying outside Thailand, like you mention, this would be far in excess of any tax I had due for staying in Thailand.

It definitely wouldn't work for my circumstances.

For a start, I have no rent, all the items you mention I already have.

I am probably older and in a different situation to you, as I am 62 years old.

  14. On the Telegram app channel, there is a sports service available for a small yearly fee that gives you all the Sports listings and which worldwide channels they are available on with IPTV.

I use Football on TV, but there are others that give all the different sports listings altogether, the same day as the games.

They also list more obscure channel feeds where big games are available, and you get better reception.

Example is, this week Liverpool will play Man City, no doubt it will be the main event channel on Sky TV or TNT etc which means with huge traffic to the site, chances of buffering increase a lot.

It will then probably be on a number of alternative feeds such as Hub, Bein sports, Now TV, Optus channels, Super sports PL, Stan sports, etc all in different countries.

The trick is to put all these channels in your favourites and flick through them all 30 minutes before a game, and attempt to get the most stable feed without buffering.

Maybe look at moving back. I did and it is working flawlessly.

He should give you a good free trial.

    No, thanks,

I was with him a long time and many followed me, on my recommendations.

It's 2,200 baht for a year now with Comfy, compared to 7200 baht, for more or less the same service.

His service worked, but towards the end of my time, certainly was not without problems,

Eric did get buffering on his service, especially with sports and my beloved football, and his answer was, to take a further subscription backup service on top of the existing subscription.

The issues became worse when I moved from 3BB to AIS, he said they were throttling the service, but now I do not having issues and can use it, usually without a VPN.

I have come to the conclusion that any of these IPTV services have a limited lifespan, and it is best not to take out extended contracts with any of them despite their offers of great deals for 12 months. They eventually get caught and closed down.

When the service goes down or gets blocked, you have no chance of a refund.

At the end of the day, they are all SECONDARY sellers themselves, meaning they are just acting as agents, shopping around networks to use services that are available to us direct, and reselling them for profit.

However, people should go where they get the services they want, from whomever they want.

Bear in mind, all these IPTV services we use are illegal, and as the saying goes' nothing lasts forever '
