  1. I am with the above poster. I am 62, never needed them, but been with Pacific Cross 4 or 5 years now. Furthermore, I mentioned in another thread, I want it for big ticket items only, such as serious issues and not run-of-the-mill dentistry or eyes or OPD. Not only that, but I paid last year with NCD and a 40,000 deductible excess charge, 47,000 for the year. That is up to 10 million Thai baht on an illness /operation/hospitalization with 400K personal accident. Not seen cheaper or better coverage for the price.
  2. I am not so sure about that. It was made from fermented sticky rice, and these days molasses such as sugar beet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lao_khao
  3. If they had been stoned and not on Yaa Baa, they would have fallen asleep eating the porridge!
  4. We went for the 2-year then straight for the ten year, we didn't bother with the five year. I suppose you could try the five year, we just wanted easy, and it seemed a bit of a jump from 6 months to five years. After we had done two X two years and considering my age, I didn't bloody care to be honest and after that Covid malarkey, I'd had enough, and just went for the 10 year. Not much change out of 1,000 quid if I recall.😆
  5. Ah, I see what you mean. Have you had a 2-year visa before? If not, that would be the first step instead of jumping for a 10 year, which can raise red flags. I told them in the letter we had been together 25 plus, our bank accounts have been linked for a long time etc, plus we had travelled extensively to Europe, North America, and Asia. We had six months visa on a number of occasions, then 2 x 2 year visas and then, I told them straight, I didn't want at my time of life, to be up and down begging for visas, with my age being a factor (62 now) and also that of my siblings, (who are older than me), in the UK. If something were to happen, we want to be on a plane, not begging for visas. That's how we did it, and it came back 10 year with no issues. We do have a long track record and likewise, we have never been in the UK longer than 4 weeks on any given trip. We proved long term sponsorship by having a decent amount in the bank in joint names. But, I am sure having a decent job would satisfy them, plus you have 10 years of marriage. I think the only thing they are on the lookout for is those going for six months, returning for a week to Thailand and then another five months. In effect, living in the UK on a tourist visa, which is not what they are for.
  6. It's amazing that they can just ignore the ' elephant in the room' which is Yaa Baa, Ecstasy, Ketamine and focus solely on the least harmful, which is Cannabis. Now I understand that the above drugs are not legal, but they represent far more of a challenge to the peace and harmony of the country, that they love banging on about, than what Cannabis presents. Yaa Baa usage is at epidemic proportions in the country, and so is Ketamine and Ecstasy. A ridiculous deflection from real issues that need addressing.
  7. Had a couple of 2 year visas first. And proof of a very long relationship plus assets and money in bank.
  8. They do love their uniforms. Even the security at Nana Plaza look like Generals.
  9. Or if nobody is tapping in to his meter, and the meter is still running, it can mean a ' leak to earth ' as I found out after returning to Thailand in February to a large bill when I was expecting a small one as I hadn't been here and nor had the Mrs, she was with me. I mention the leak to earth, because he states they neighbour has had cowboys in messing with wires.
  10. Odd comment, obviously from somebody who has never served or put on a uniform and defended their country.
  11. I did that yesterday, so that people who don't read threads or are not reasonably quick on the uptake, to make it perfectly clear. I actually thought it was clear all along. Fairly natural when asking about 90 day reporting I was referring to Thailand because Cambodia doesn't do it, Vietnam doesn't have it etc and this is a THAI message board.
  12. Get your MAGA hat out, Trump to the rescue. 91 charges, were they all made up? And people like you think he's fit for President. I THINK NOT.
  13. @Skipalongcassidy can't define anything, only his own bigoted points of view.
  14. You are the one who needs to get a life, you think AN was created solely for you and your rants? What a clown.
  15. Me as well, I'll take it. I'm up for renewal in July....😆
  16. Goodbye, RIP and thank you for serving your country.
  17. Obviously not as much as AN readers feel they need to know.
  18. Cheers Guys, That's cleared that up. I know the way of applying for the EU Schengen area, we have done it before when we visited The Netherlands and Spain.
  19. I am with you on that. I have been with my current insurer, Pacific Cross, quite a while now and get maximum no claims discount. My cover gives 10,000 baht a day room and board. I am covered for 10,000,000 baht for total treatment of a condition and 400,000 baht for personal accident. I am 62, have a deductible of 40,000 baht, because small OPD ailments I will pay as I go. Likewise, I have had cancer of the larynx, but survived after major surgery many years ago, (18 years) this is not covered. Not only that, but I was told by my surgeon that no way was that specific cancer coming back. It hasn't, courtesy of Bumrungrad. My annual fee last year was 47,000 baht. My health insurance is in case of worst case scenarios, and I didn't want lumbering with a 4 or 5 million baht medical bills. I don't smoke, drink little, am slightly overweight, but I am exercising. Likewise, I also have the good grade annual check-ups. That's actually a lot more than I would be doing to look after myself in the UK.
  20. My other half is already in possession of a 10-year UK visitor visa. On her next trip, I was planning on going to Ireland and Europe. I know we can basically just walk into Ireland from Northern Ireland, but can we obtain a visa through the Irish Embassy that allows free travel through Europe? That would be the simplest method, if it's allowed. All other routes to Schengen, we have been in the past, have involved buying tickets and accommodation upfront before applying for the visa. I was thinking, with the Irish visa, we could cut the need for air tickets etc and make life easy. Our last Schengen visa was a long time ago and for sure, rules change. So, I would appreciate any updated advice in case I have missed anything. The idea would be to visit the Irish Republic and Spain, for a couple of weeks in total.
  21. Not according to Reuters and it's been fact-checked, which you can find under the ' VERDICT ' section at the bottom. And some of the conflicts involving Obama were forced on him by ISIS and involved the NATO alliance not just the USA In fact, most of the recent US wars have been courtesy of the two Bush Presidents. So, you are in error about what you state. Trump actively pursued targets in Syria by the way. https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN2A22QR/
