  1. If they continue to not assist, get him to nip to another province or office and take it there. Chonburi centre or Rayong. Mind you, @bbko has already put all the answers and test questions up above in this thread.
  2. I live near the Mukdahan/Laos border and I don't need border bounces at my age unfortunately, as I used to love the adventure aspect of them, but I still fly out to Cambodia and Vietnam every so often for the different vibe. I don't understand why people are so adverse to nipping out of the country for two or three days, and so desperate to find shortcuts to stay in. It's not as though they have any desperate need to be here 24/7. Everything will still be here when they get back.
  3. I don't need to enter and exit but was interested in what you said, It's a long time since I have been up your way but I did like the change of environment and scenery. I thought they had closed the Myanmar/Thai border for now? Obviously not.
  4. Exactly what I was thinking and are they expecting an influx of HIV + gay people with a good sprinking of STDs. for good measure? This has nothing to do with GAY people and everything to do with PEOPLE full stop. They do come up with some ill conceived ideas without thinking them through. I think gay people would find this touristic gem of an idea that they have come up with, downright insulting
  5. The stuff some people will do for a bit of publicity.
  6. They would have given without a doubt far more leeway had it been one of their countrymen in that condition. I have seen it and see it regularly. He may have been a drunken clown, probably was, but the response seems way over the top, but it usually is in the likes of Pattaya and Phuket etc.
  7. I've done my best as a person of average intelligence to try to answer your post the best I can with the information available. I find you have granted yourself a lot of leeway interpreting what actually occurred without evidence. What is apparent is the guy was heavily intoxicated. However, for his trouble he now has a broken nose, he is minus three teeth and has a cerebral hemorrhage. Is that adequate punishment for you? Maybe, they could have allowed for the fact he was very drunk and done what they normally do with Thais in that condition and totally ignored him.
  8. To justify this they will roll out that all standard prisoners are entitled to an additional 3 days a month off for good behaviour, Additionally, when Royal Pardons come around for important royal celebration days, such as King or Queens birthday, or his fathers remembrance day, etc they usually release those over 70, and those with less than a year to serve and also they release quickly on parole, those guilty of non violent crimes. Just another day at the Thai office!
  9. At the young age of 94 years! Bloody good innings I would have thought.
  10. I actually just don't fancy Ukraine at the moment. Maybe I'll do North Korea or Afghanistan this next year.
  11. OP seriously needs to take a chill pill especially if that is all he has on his mind. The world revolves around advertising.
  12. That pretty much sums it up, Thais thinking they are too good to do certain jobs when they have no language skills nor educational qualifications with the exception of tik tok and Facebook. Ah well, swing away in the hammock at home, borrow from Mom and Dad until they have nothing left and watch the Cambodians and Burmese do all the work, because working is beneath you.
  13. Thanks all, This has been useful and as a frequent flyer I will take on board your comments for future flights and definitely check them out instead of just glossing over them as I usually do. Another poster has given me good insights into both Oman air and Gulf air for business class seats which have been available at far better rates than Qatar and Emirates. I am Qatar through and through with a Gold membership but their recent economy and business class flights have been eye watering price wise, so I will definitely be looking around on future trips. There comes a time where it becomes a balancing act of what the advantages there are with your loyalty benefits are outweighed by the better price of a decent business class seat.
  14. The whole lot of the Thai military and Police are regarded with contempt and disdain by the outside Western world with regards to their role in policing and security. They just are not to be taken seriously.
  15. He is nothing special and just another megalomaniac obsessed by having the press around for everything right down to the ' opening of an envelope ' It wasn't that long since they threw him out of the Police and his car was shot up in Bangkok. Also, with regards to him constantly being referred to as a Police colonel, that does not reflect in the uniform he is wearing which is that of a Lieutenant General. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Thai_military_ranks He also seems a bit young to be getting the top job as they usually give that to guys who have 1 or 2 years left before retirement, unless he is planning on the top police job and then shifting to politics. Then if that's the case we are just moving from a military junta to a Police junta.
  16. He actually will be entitled to that also, about 3 days per month served. Then he will be eligible very soon for parole due to his age and alleged health issues. Also, he is allowed up to 120 days in a hospital outside which can specialize in his "health conditions". So, that will be it, no time served. We all know it's pure garbage. The door has also been left open regards ' politics ' as the statement from the Royal Gazette mentions that not only was he was loyal to the monarchy but also his experience and expertise will be useful for the new government and benefit of the country.
  17. Yeah I wanted to do that. The outstanding tax is already paid However, local officials won't transfer the bike to her, until it has been transferred and end registered in Kalasin. It seems bloody long winded
  18. Flying to Manchester from Bangkok this Wednesday with Qatar as usual. A380 to Doha at the front of the aircraft, I am in economy but with legroom seat and then in business class to Manchester from Doha. Looking forward to it. I gave up with Thai a long time ago, I was a fan of EVA at one time but since I now prefer Qatar, followed by Etihad and Emirates. You can't beat the Middle Eastern airlines at the moment, although all flights to the UK from Bangkok at the moment tend to be eye watering with the prices, except for Lufthansa and Austrian airlines who I have never flown with.
  19. Full of lined up Sycophants!
  20. I am not believing this at all. And I am fairly sure they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot and tell you if that was the truth anyway. Many Thai women are coming to the Western guy with baggage and getting out of bad relationships, abuse at home, two or three kids, absent or drunkard husband etc. I see many foreigners putting themselves and others down with comments like old and fat etc. These things are a trade off, they go with with older Thai wealthy men as well. A lot of Thai women are well prepared to trade youth and beauty for a better life, travel, good food and clean surroundings and financial security. They don't have much chance of that with the average Thai males.
  21. And now the second part of the plan comes to the front. Thaksin applies for a Royal pardon which has already been received by the Justice minister. A normal prisoner requesting this would take years just to reach his desk. Anyway, I can't see a coalition government with so many parties involved lasting more than 6 months.
  22. Up where I live there are always complaints from the owners of bars and restaurants about police underpaying for goods and services or signing bills and then not honoring the debts due.
