  1. Has the Government issued any recent figures regarding the number of non Asean foreigners, living in Thailand, working or retired compared to pre 2020 numbers?

A lot has been stated as to the lower foreign tourist figures upon the economy. But what about the long stay expats?

You can apply for your extension of stay (it is not a visa) up to 30 day early at most offices and 45 days at others.

You do not require insurance for a extension based upon being the parent of a Thai.

I am perplexed by the variety actions  at different IMOs. Immigration laws and rules set by the Government are National requirements, why, "You can apply for your extension of stay (it is not a visa) up to 30 day early at most offices and 45 days at others."  Perhaps there exists in Thai Law a degree of amelioration allowed by Government employees when implementing them.

  3. I am in the UK and hoping I can return to Thailand as soon as both UK and Thai Governments allow entry. However at present I am bemused, confused and rapidly becoming traumatised.

I have had both AZ jabs. Yes , I will take another pcr or whatever Covid test when I Know that I can meet all other documents required by Thai Immigration Office. Therein lies monkey puzzle.

I am confused because I do not understand why a separate Certificate allowing entry to the country is required. Why not include these requirements in the Visa Application and make them mandatory for all countries? Do I need a CofE as a tourist from UK. Presumably this requirement has arisen because of the pandemic and therefore all that should be required is validation of having received the necessary jabs within the defined timescales and negative test results.

Some Ministers within the Royal Thai Government and Regional Authorities are pleading for the return of foreign tourists while there appear to be no steps being taken to ease the bureaucracy involved.

  4. I am in my "Home Country". Wishing I was NOT and yearning to come back to my home and garden, my adopted family, my dogs and all my friends and acquaintances in Thailand.

Why do so many expats moan about almost everything in Thailand and remain?

During the course of my 81 years i have lived and worked in UK, Africa, India and SE Asia. The only country I truly miss is Thailand.

However I do not miss the bureaucratic processes and the inevitable corruption that exists in all forms authority.

I recall meeting a young Medical Doctor employed at a Government Hospital with him asking what I disliked about the country. I replied, 'Only one thing', He interrupted with, ' I know, Corruption'.

In the pre-covid-19 year of 2019 there were only around 1 million arrivals from the UK. 2013-2018 there were consistently around the same number.

    6 million in 2021?

Looks like Anuntin's been passing around the wacky baccy again  ????

Is Anutin still wearing the same hat, or has he passed it around for a donation to his Clown Fund?

There is a lot of science that needs to be understood before paying any attention at all to the click-bait headlines.

Even just this little bit makes the situation a lot clearer:

" The Sinovac study was to look at how the vaccine works against the entire range of clinical symptoms, from mild infections to severe ones, including death. The efficacy data of about 50% is for very mild disease, requiring no treatment. For infections requiring some medical intervention, it’s about 84% and for moderate-to-severe Covid cases, it’s 100%."

What is the source for the data that mahjongguy  has posted?

You wish to enter Thailand, get married, then apply to extend your permission of stay from your entry based on marriage.

First question, how do you intend to enter Thailand - VE, TV, Non O, Non O-A?

    You don't.

    Hello Tanoshi,

I was planning to use TV, but i have just seen something I have not been aware of. I inderstand that a UK citizen can get a OX Visa for long stay. Don't know what that is? It would help if there were a published list of ALL the various visa acronyms and details.

  8. A few years ago while living in Thailand I had to get a letter from Immigration before the bank would allow me to open an account.

I am now in the UK and wish to get a marriage visa. IMO have told my GF that I must have 400,000 baht in the bank for at least 2 months. How do I open  a Thai Bank a/c whilst in the UK?

Had a similar issue with a friend of mine - her boss wasn't paying her (farang boss)

Long story short she went to the Tesabahn - a lady from there went to visit the workplace and told the boss he had to pay his staff - if he didn't he would no longer get the paperwork he needed to continue his business and action would also be taken against him for not paying his staff

So my advice is to go to the Tessabahn and see what they say

'until 2019 i live in rural NE Thailand for 12 years and never came across rhe word Tessabahn, What, who is it?
