Not surprised.
Given the ill thought out procedure required.
Book flight, get insured, apply COE, get visa.
Coe not processed earlier than 4 weeks. If refused who is likely to be out of pocket?
Is all the hassle worth it?

Well stated Richard Coleman, I whole heartedly concur,
"Flash my vaccinations at the airport and get on the plan and I'll come November first week".
Also if the Thai Minister of the MFA were to conduct an audit of the efficiency of their overseas embassies we might see better responses from some of them.

once again, it would appear that the IT system and pre programmed Q&A are unable to respond to changes . A change in rules may not have been programmed into their Systems.
A vexing scenario which is being experienced all across the globe as authorities rely more on robots.
"Hey Doc, I think this patient is alive"!
"No the m/c says DOA".

DrJack54,
I presume you do understand that USA has Federal Laws and State Laws. You are confusing laws enacted by Thai Regional Authorities and those posted in the Govt Gazette.
Question for you. Does obfuscation of the law assist the lawbreaker at the expense of law abiding citizens
-
Presumably this is an issue that does not concern the foreign diplomatic community in Thailand as they do not have to deal with it. Diplomatic immunity et al!
Hence the normal law abiding foreigner trying to stay within legal boundaries is faced with this problem. Hence relevant dialogue regarding this topic with Thai Govt., is ignored.

The regional variations to the application of laws passed by the Central Lawmakers is a continuing open gateway to corruption.
I copy below a recent advisory from the UK Embassy regarding getting married in Thailand.
"You need to make an affirmation of marital status in order to get married in Thailand.
It is your responsibility to check which documents are needed by the district office (amphur/amphoe) where you will register your marriage before attending your appointment. Each district office has different requirements and Embassy staff are unable to advise you which documents each district office requires."

No checking for a vaccine, no COE, no ASQs, no PCR testing, no insurance requirements, no wondering what businesses will be open, etc... Just, you know, OPEN!
Try the other side of that coin? there have been 278k deaths upto the end of August.

Unless you are a British citizen in a desperate need of going back to dark land why would you want to go to the UK anyways ????????♂️
I reckon this is just a money making speculation, unsurprisingly !
it’s a mega rip off rainy and dingy place, you must be insane to live there ????I therefore conclude there must be a few foreign insane people living in the UK now. Perhaps that was just tongue up the £$^& comment.

Bretta pistols were all the rage 20 or 30 years ago when they were still used by US forces but now Thais are crazy about Glocks which are easier to shoot and just as reliable with a greater cool factor. Also spare parts high capacity mags are readily available and Glocks are easy to tune up. There must a lot of unwanted Berettas floating around as well as old revolvers, of which he also had one. Thais often don't realise they can easily inherit a gun from a deceased family member to register it in their own name and legally sell it, if they have no use for it. So they just tend to sell old guns of deceased family members into the black market, where they can fall into the hands of sleezy farang yobs and crims in Pattaya, Hua Hin & etc.
Cops can't hold anyone responsible for these guns as the registered owner is dead and the family will just say they never saw the gun in the deceased's possessions, so he must have lost it or sold it before he died. Another route for distribution of genuine firearms is the Interior Ministry's civil service welfare scheme that imports huge quantities of guns to sell at discounted prices to civil servants, state enterprise employees and even local defense olunteers. This is a massive money spinner for corrupt ministry officials who control the import and distribution of the guns. Many civil servants sell their guns into the black market, file a police report of a lost or stolen gun and apply to buy another one.
Thanks Dogmatix for your info, I often wondered how such a proliferation of firearms existed in Thailand when i lived there.

In my case Sinovac as recommended by my doctor for a type 2 insulin dependent diabetic. This morning I received my free 2nd vaccination of Sinovac. When I enquired about getting a third booster jab, I got a bewildered look and "we have no idea - could be 3 months or 6 months, no vaccine at the moment".
Certificates are verified and genuine?
I am sure the resources are available, it is the effort and leadership of the FCO staff that is required.

Hi, living on Koh Chang, My missus a health volunteer, just told me ''you have to show hotel 'everything' " To clarify show covid test, within the last 72hrs or double vaxed. As far as i know you can still board a ferry and take your chance on a hotel. Bottom line please have a test and keep Covid off the Island as much as is possible. There are positive cases here already we don't need more. Yesterday I went to D-Save and it is all shuttered until the 1st, I'm not sure why but i believe a customer has become infected. GET your test PLEASE & come and enjoy Paradise.
i WISH I COULD COME AND ENJOY. BUT I NO LONGER THINK KC IS PARADISE. STAYING OPTIMISTIC HOWEVER! MY REGARDS TO ALL LONG STAYERS, i MEAN THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN ON THE ISLAND SINCE BEFORE 2006

Thanks Mikesil,
Having previously lived in LOS for 15 years and experienced personally the topics you have mentioned I concur.
However, this does not explain why!
There is a legal firm based in BKK which has advertised it's services regularly on ThaiVisa and whom I approached for advice on obtaining a Yellow Book.
After diligently following advice and obtaining required documents I presented self and docs at the local Amphur Office based in Surin. I was turned away. Friends base in Buri Ram in exactly the same situ as self gor their books without any hassle.
Querying this with the legal eagles in BKK I got a reply. "The rules are applied differently in each Province.
Given the above what is the point of issuing National Laws.
Do Provincial Governors have the power to over ride Parliament and the Senate?
If anyone is aware of a cohesive document that explains the Thai Legal System please advise!

From past browsing on this site I have come to the conclusion that the laws are open to different interpretations at many Immigration Offices. Are not the laws concerning Immigration applicable nationally? Are they so loosely defined that individual IOs can adopt and implement their own version?
Why is there no avenue available to appeal against these various interpretations?

I have noticed the word, brutality, mentioned several times. Never seen `corruption` being mentioned regarding his wealth. Is there some legal reason why the media have not used this word?

What effort is being made to export this fruit either fresh or canned to Europe, USA and UK?
In the UK the supermarkets display a large variety of fresh, canned and frozen fruit. There is no visible active marketing of imported Thai products.

I understand that proof of any annual income from overseas is deducted from the 800,000 required to be held in a Thai Bank a/c. I am querying this as all comments associated with this 800,000 seem to neglect this issue. Is this joint financial amount still valid, or has it been superceeded?

You could apply for a tourist visa or enter visa exempt and then apply for a non-o visa at immigration. To apply for the visa you would 800k baht in a Thai bank on the day you apply Then apply for a one year extension during the last 30 day of the 90 day entry.
The only insurance that would be required is the $100,000 covid 19 insurance valid for your length of stay (60 days). The insurance is can be issued up to the age of 99. See: https://www.tipinsure.com/CovidRegional/product_detail
Thanks Ubonjoe. I am due my third AZ jab in October and will be in touch after my anticioated arrival in November. Thanks again fort your always helpful advice.

the last time I tried to contact the Thai Embassy in London was back in Nov and December 2019. It seems as though nothing has changed since then. I eventually took Ubonjoe's advice and travelled without. I got a tourist visa on arrival and was able to change it later.
Thank you Ubonjoe, I am unfortunately back in UK and waiting for the gates to open again. At age 81 I am having a problem meeting the requirements of the C of E.
I have been double jabbed with the AZ vaccine in the UK but I understand I will still have to quarantine on arrival. Who is going to provide be with affordable Health Insurance at my age?
