  1. No more rats in Hat Yai than elsewhere in LoS. Why the bias mikebell?
  2. Not enough money to fill a brown envelope in Yala apparently.
  3. Capt. Steven Ponter, aka HammerMan. Not just any old geezer.
  4. All these ferry routes are dead in the water. Captain Steve has recently retired, so no chance of any restart in the near future.
  5. I often walk right next to where the bomb went off. Scary to think it could happen at any time. Inshallah my loved ones and I will be spared from disaster.
  6. Wait a minute. Can I already pay across the border in, let's say Malaysia, using my Thai account, by scanning their QR codes?
  7. Yes, the insurgency has its temporary flare-ups. Hopefully, one day a comprehensive peace agreement or long-standing cease-fire between all parties involved will be achieved. But I'm not hopeful.
  8. Frothing at the mouth again about muslims? Mashallah, can't expect anything else from a darn Brit alhamdulilah. Inshallah you will one day see the light. Barakallah to you.
  9. Why would they? It's a local conflict.
  10. I never worry. Foreigners haven't been deliberately targeted in 20 years of conflict. Besides, if it's my time, then it's my time. Only God knows when that is.
  11. Though it's become much quieter, with fewer incidents, the conflict has never quite stopped since 2004. I live in Narathiwat btw, so I experience the insurgency firsthand.
  12. Guess that's gonna be the plan: just see how far I come, and hold a taxi whenever I get stuck.
  13. Not the day of arrival or departure. Just dropping off a car at the terminal in the early evening, after dark. I love walking and my hotel will probably be close, in the King Kaew Rd./ Lat Krabang area, so why not? Not doing it to save money, but just for the heck of it.
  14. Drop-off is in front of the terminal.
  15. Not asking for justification. I love walking, especially when unobstructed by a suitcase. My hotel will be right outside of the airport. In theory, at least, could I walk there from Suvarnabhumi?
  16. Not doing it with luggage. Have to drop a rental car first, so can walk without carrying anything. But, is this a viable route? Parts of it look accessible to motorized traffic only.
  17. Just curious: is there a way for someone to reach the BKK Airport terminal on foot from the outside (Lat Krabang)? In particular, I am interested in actual walkable paths, not risking my life on the busy, clearly-not-suitable-for-pedestrian, roads leading directly to the terminal.
  18. Alhamdulilah. May our thoughts and prayers help his family gather strength.
  19. Thoughts and prayers to the victims.
  20. Muslims looking for a good time don't even visit Hat Yai anymore. They have different outlets for that purpose.
  21. No real answer, but I did a teaching course of a Philippine university and did not the diploma recognized. All in all, I am still teaching unqualified. Buyer be ware!
  22. Let the public decide what to do with this animal: chop him into bits, burn him alive or skin him and drop his bloody body into a pit full of flesh-eating maggots.😝
  23. Thoughts and prayers for the deceased and her family. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun.🙌
  24. Tourism would be welcomed in the region, as long as the tourists keep in mind the ethnic and religious nature of the region. Small-scale eco-tourism could be a way of providing some extra income to the locals, while not infringing much on their way of life.
