Songkhla would be my choice, but make sure you speak some Thai there.

I've not been there yet for any dental work, but I may choose to do so. It still takes about three hours each way to travel there, but if it's really good I'd be willing to go for it. After all, I trust a university hospital more than a random clinic in my small town.

Three Officers Killed in Pattani’s Bomb Attack
MarcelV replied to snoop1130's topic in Southern Thailand News
...some are, just like some Brits are beer-guzzling mongers, but not all of them. -
Please guys, create your own topic if you wanna discuss these matters. I don't care about your retirement, as I'm still working and will be working for the next 14-20 years at least.

Yes, I have read it, and I qualify for the teacher licence according to this outdated list. In practice, however, I do NOT qualify because the graduate diploma in teaching I possess is no longer recognized. Basically, if that diploma wasn't acquired from a recognized shortlist (very short) of institutions, then the TCT does not recognize it. This leaves me with the only current viable route being the modules offered by the TCT themselves. If they don't dispatch any info about it, what am I supposed to do?

Fyi, I have a temporary license. Just need to get qualified after 7 long years in Thailand already. It ain't the 90s anymore, I know. One can't just keep teaching in this country on waivers forever. And I know what you must be thinking: "why doesn't this guy just go back to his home country to study for an education degree?" Well, I can tell you that ain't worth it anymore. I'm in my 40s, living in a far-flung corner of Thailand with wife, house and cats and I ain't got no desire to completely uproot my life. I just wanna get enough done to get me that 5-year professional teachers license, and maybe, just maybe, I'll go for an MEd sometime in the future. Last year I completed a Filipino teacher course, but that diploma proved to be worth less than the paper it was printed on. Yeah, I got skills and I demonstrated them, but if Thai bureaucracy doesn't recognize them, then what's a man gotta do?? Money is not really driving me, more so living a quiet life and being the best teacher I can be for my students, you know what I'm saying? Therefore, I don't need any people's condescending me. Just advise me on the current TCT mess I - and many others - are in. Thanks bro.

C'mon people, please answer my question. I am interested in doing the TCT modules for non-licensed teachers, in order to get a professional license. Who is in the same boat as me? There must be someone on AN who knows about it and has registered too. The payment deadline of August 30 is looming and the TCT is not responsive.

Stay on topic please. I wanna get some kinda teaching credit here in Thailand. Any way to study some online course or something? I've been teaching here for 7 years and next year they will probably kick me out if I don't get qualified. I get nothing from the TCT.

@banglay It's so beautiful in the deep south. It's been a pleasure living here for the past 7 years. And the number of actual checkpoints is not that high. At 99% of them, the soldiers just wave you through, if they're even checking people/cars/bikes at all. No stress about it. Living in the area, you quickly get used to the military presence anyway.

Dude,I got 7 years of experience already. Also got a bachelor's degree. I ain't exactly a noob y'all. Just wanna make sure what im signing up for,and how.

Looking for school for 9yrs old daughter
MarcelV replied to Gerjan's topic in Primary & Secondary Education
My employer doesn't offer any benefits for my children. Oh, and I don't have kids btw. So no cheese. -
Of course not, dude. Save up or invest your money in crypto or hedge funds. As farangs we have the money to do so. The Thai are poor and must rely on SS and us western Caucasian white farangs to feed their families.

Does anyone know when, how or what? I have downloaded the ONE app on my phone, but besides the Thai webinars there ain't nothing there for aspiring, unlicensed teachers. Apparently, I gotta pay some kind of fee or something before the end of August, but there ain't no info whatsoever by the TCT. No emails, nothing. Does anybody know more, like what to sign up for and when it starts? Also, I can't find the payment link anymore.

I would postpone my trip if I were you, until February or March. (Make sure to arrive well before Ramadan month) The rain has been torrential for this time of the year. It's currently not a good time to visit.

I live in the region. It's certainly worth a visit, if only to see an authentic part of Thailand with its own culture, language and religion. Like you, I also have the goal of visiting and staying at every province. Still quite a way to go, but I hope one day I can "complete" Thailand.
-
I will have to check that and compare prices. By now it's pretty clear to me that a combination of root canal plus crown is preferable over a dental implant.
-
Would a private clinic or hospital charge more? In my hometown, I was quoted 12,000 baht for a RCT, with my social security covering none of it. I am familiar with PSU, but also with its long wait times. If I can get the same treatment at a private clinic in a more comfortable environment, I'd prefer that. Hat Yai is fine btw, not too far for me.
-
Very close to Malaysia, so not in a foreigner-heavy area. English is not common here. I am not sure if I trust the local clinics with such an important procedure tbh.
-
Btw, I live in the south, but would be willing to travel to Bangkok for a reputable dentist for a root canal, if the treatment wouldn't necessarily require returning.

Outgoing PM Prayut congratulates incoming PM Srettha
MarcelV replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
His name is Prayut, but you may affectionately call him Lung Tu. -
The powers-that-be may have been able to hold off MFP for now, but the genie is out of the bottle and the progressive movement will only get stronger as time goes on. A mere tip of 10,000 baht, IF the handout happens, won't be enough to enamour the electorate with the Party of Thaksin again. Young people do not care about PT. There will be change soon enough. You can count on it.

I'm just worried about the tooth eventually failing anyway. Mine has gotten a few successive fillings along the way, to replace the original one, with for each filling more of the original molar having to be bored away, to the point that the molar is now more filling than tooth. I'm in my mid-40s and would like the fixed - or new - tooth to last me as long as possible. I'm not scared of the dentist's, but it's not exactly my favorite place either.????
-
Can anyone recommend me a good place for a root canal treatment for one of my back molars? Alternatively, is it possible in Thailand to get a dental implant instead? This I would prefer over a root canal. Any good experiences with either treatment?
